Leon's Pov:
I shouldn't have agreed to meet him.
That thought sat at the back of my mind the entire time I drove to the café, repeating itself in different ways but never changing its meaning. I knew exactly what Rico was doing, and still, I showed up. That alone irritated me more than anything else.
The café wasn't crowded, just a few people scattered around, minding their business. It was quiet enough to think, which only made things worse.
I sat down at a table near the window, my fingers tapping lightly against the surface. I checked the time once, then again. He was late.
Good. That gave me a reason to leave.
I stood up, grabbing my keys, already turning toward the exit when the door opened and he walked in.
Rico didn't look surprised to see me halfway out. If anything, he looked amused.
"Leaving already?" he asked, walking toward me.
I didn't sit back down immediately. I looked at him for a second, then exhaled and pulled my chair out again.
