AN : PICKED UP SERIES

Hello! I don't know how to start this so I'm just going to go straight to the point. Ahem, If you're here it's probably because you are aware that this is a novel created by another author. The original writer goes by the name AuthourClevvy and they wrote two novels, one called "God's Judgement" and the other called "Reincarnated As A Tree?!" With that being said I do hope that you support them.

I recently got permission to pick up this novel that they dropped. Please note that the reason for them dropping their novels was because they didn't have time to continue writing, they unfortunately got way too busy with two jobs, school and traveling with family to write.

I'm slightly less busy at the moment and because I thoroughly enjoyed the novel I am more than a little happy about being allowed to pick it up. Alternatively, I'll also see if I can get permission to write their first Novel as well because that was quite good too.

Now that we've gotten the important information out of the way, I'll be explaining some other equally as important information as well. Starting with The world.

Firstly, after talking to Clevvy and reading their novel I found out that about halfway through writing their novels 3rd or 4th chapter, they began to recognise that their novel was very similar to the novel Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken (Alternatively known as That Time I got reincarnated as a slime), the creator watched 7 episodes of the anime after and agreed that it was basically a carbon copy of the anime which unfortunately made them very sad since the story was handwritten by them several years ago. They also stated that they're in no way trying to claim that the story was stolen, only that as expected as it was for their story to be similar to someone else's, they didn't expect it to be practically the exact same.

I told them that it simply means that great minds think alike and that if they had known about webnovel and published the novel when they made it, that it would have been very popular. That succeeded in cheering them up a bit. They also strongly recommended that I watch the anime because they're fully convinced that I'll love the protagonist because I love the protagonist of this novel. (You think I'm kidding but I'm Vaelis's number one fan. If he has no fans I've simply perished.)

I'm going to watch the anime I promise, I simply haven't gotten around to it yet :[ I keep forgetting. Though, I do know a bit about the slime world, Clevvy told me that after watching the anime themself, they decided that these things were definitely the same/similar:

The name of the main character (pre death)

The naming system in the new world (Although unlike the main character in the slime anime, Vaelis isn't named by anyone, he names himself, so I think it makes a bit of sense that he is really strong considering that.)

The magic system in the new world (He said something about magicules, please… I don't understand magic theory yet that's why I've been struggling with my own novels—)

World system(?)(This is a bit confusing to me, but apparently in Tensei Shitara Slime, there was something called a "world voice" and skills and abilities and the slime had a system(?) or a skill that acted as a system. In this world, there are skills and a world voice but unlike in other novels where only the main character has a system, everyone/thing does. Only, some creatures are unable to see/use theirs simply because they aren't intelligent enough to check or use it. Also, it's not the standard system interface that shows things like [ System]

It's a slight difference but it's notable in my opinion.

And last but not least: Death. They specifically explained that "sometimes when someone or something does, they're not really dead because they can simply come back through a different body" 🧍 …

Now that we have the similarities out of the way, I'll explain the main characters' powers (I've probably changed the name of a few/most of the skills, I also likely removed or simply not mentioned a lot of the skills since he has so many, the world system, races and racism, the main characters' background along with very specific visual details since simply showing you is impossible unfortunately, and probably some other info dump that I can't think of right now.

Skill ranking (Ascending Order)

Common - As you may be able to guess from the name, common skills are skills that everyone has. Typically, these skills aren't necessarily very important or useful as they're as natural as breathing.

Uncommon - Skills that aren't common but aren't special either. They're skills a lot of people have, but not everyone. (Think: Blue eyes. Not common, but not something completely rare either. Also not something that only one race of people can have, so it's not a trait specific to that race.)

Special - These are skills that aren't necessarily rare but they aren't completely common either. They're skills that certain races have exclusively. For example, a vampire needing blood to survive would be considered a "special skill" since most vampires need blood to survive unless they're high Ranked or mixed, but other races don't need blood to survive.

Rare - These are skills that not everyone has. You probably won't meet that many people with the same skill. Rare skills can have subvariants, like two fire manipulation skill user's, one being able to use [Fireball] and the other being able to use [Flame Pillar] (Basically, two people can have a skill that's similar but not the same, in the example given, both people have fire manipulation but each one uses a different version of the skill.)

Unique - Unique skills are skills that are given to only certain creatures or people. Like someone being able to see the future with a skill called [Divine Foresight], having this skill would be unique only to that person. No one else will have the same skill, there may be skills somewhat similar to that skill but being born with the same skill is impossible. (As a one piece fan I like to think that the simplest way to explain is like how every devil fruit only has one, and no one else will have the same power until the holder of the power dies. Except, I don't think the skills in this world will appear even if the user dies.)

Legendary - Legendary skills are skills that others are unable to obtain through any means. Unless the user is a *Hero, *Demon, *Angel, *God, or an *Anomaly, having these skills will be impossible. Legendary skills are typically skills related to holy or demonic magic. It is vastly different from Physical Enhancement, Elemental, Darkness/Psychic or Spiritual magic.

(Think: A group of people are summoned from another world and are exchanging skill information with the summoner(s), one person has a legendary holy skill. They would likely hear something like "Woah, I can't believe it! You have a [Legendary Skill]! That person would likely be monopolized and/or even forced to marry a prince or princess because they're so valuable that they wouldn't even be sent to missions/battles unless they absolutely have no choice. Legendary skills are "rare" but not necessarily "Unique" since more than a handful of others have at least 1, but because such a small number of people can even get one and even fewer people are able to use the skill since they require an abysmal amount of magicules to use. Heroes with legendary skills can only use these skills once or twice, often resulting in the skill being used as a trump card only. I hope I've explained this well because it's the best I could manage. ;;; )

Ultimate - Ultimate skills are skills that do not and cannot have a copy. Ultimate skills are able to be traded by the users with other ultimate skills users, however, ultimate skills cannot be traded or handed down to people or creatures who do not already have an ultimate skill.

Alternatively, only a handful of ultimate skills exist, and they are not skills that can be blocked, parried, erased or absorbed by others unless it's by another ultimate skill of equal or higher power.

(I did a bit of research and if my understanding is correct then it should be exactly like how Rimuru (I hope I said his name right, please don't throw tomatoes at me ;;;) used his ultimate skill [Beelzebub] to swallow up and absorb Clayman's Ultimate skill)

Skills

[Ultimate Skill] Thermal Fluctuation Nullification - This skill allows the user to always maintain a comfortable temperature regardless of the weather surrounding the user. It also means that unless fully intended, the user's internal and external body temperature will not be affected. (Basically, even if he were dropped into a molten volcano he'd be fine. He has the durability of a Nokia phone ✨😼)

[Common Skill] Evolutionary Death - Causes the user to undergo a death-like state during evolutions. When in this state it is best for the user to find a safe and quiet place, as they will be unable to react or defend themselves until they are finished. After successfully evolving, the user will have received an explosive amount of power and magicules. (For the protagonist, this skill can be used multiple times, it's one of the only skills that everyone has, however majority of people/creatures only manage to undergo one or two evolutions)

[Unique Skill] Duplication - A complete mimicry. This skill allows the user to completely mimic the features of another. From their appearance to their skills, everything will be the same. (Has a cooldown of a week after each use)

[Unique Skill] Avatar Creation - This skill allows the user to create functional avatars that can act on their own. Alternatively, these avatars can function as additional bodies for the user, their durability is weak though making them only useful for acting as decoys. (This skill is quite op because of how it was used though.)

[Unique Skill] Insight - Allows the user to read the information of anything that they focus on. (Skill is not limited to items)

[Rare Skill] Elemental Manipulation - Allows the user to use and manipulate the elements (Fire, Wind, Water, Earth) however control must be learned through strict practice.

[Legendary Skill] Spiritual Attack Neutralization - This skill allows the user to withstand any and all attacks to the spirit via dark or holy magic. Does not grant total immunity, magic above a certain threshold will greatly damage and may even fatally wound or kill the user.

[Unique Skill] Iron psyche - This skill allows the user to have a strong mentalitude, preventing most things from influencing their thoughts or memories. Things such as hypnosis, brainwashing, Irrational Fear, or Intoxication will have no effect on the user.

[Unique Skill] Sleep Nullification - This skill allows the user to function properly without having to rest. Skills involving sleeping, losing consciousness, or dazing are ineffective against the user. User may still choose to sleep, though it is entirely unnecessary. (Unfortunately this also means they don't dream because the sleep is no different than simply laying with your eyes closed but still being awake.)

[Uncommon Skill] Self Heal - Allows the user to completely heal almost any wounds inflicted on themselves with the exception of holy, demonic, or fatal wounds.

[Unique Skill] Pierce Resistance - This skill protects the user from being pierced with attacks from weapons. (Spears, Knives, bullets, swords, daggers, and arrows, etc. It means that while he can still get attacked and take damage from these things, it will be very difficult and even when/if you succeed in the attack its effects will be reduced along with the damage taken.)
