Chapter 2 - Chapter 1: The Fourth Prince

Time flew by, and two months passed. Ryan, now known as Liser von Jiran, could not see clearly at first, but his vision gradually sharpened. Once he gained the ability to observe his surroundings, he quickly understood his situation. He was the fourth prince of a kingdom named Jiran.

He was the second child of the current queen, but due to complications during childbirth, the queen died. Because of this, he was called the "Cursed Prince."

At first, he thought God had favored him by allowing him to be born into a royal family.

"Why do I need to work hard? I can just lie down and enjoy life. I have the power of the royal family behind me," he had thought.

But this dream was shattered on the third day after his birth.

"Do you find the young prince peculiar? He doesn't even cry or fuss like other children," a maid whispered.

"Indeed. Do you think it's a cursed child? Even the queen died giving him birth," another maid chimed in.

'What does that have to do with me? I wasn't even aware of anything yet, and you're already blaming me? What kind of thinking is this?' Ryan complained in worldly.

Suddenly, a sharp voice cut through the air.

"What are you doing speaking like this about His Highness? The queen died giving birth to him, and we should keep a close eye on this child. After all, he is still the queen's last son. If I hear you talking like that again, don't blame me for being rude."

"We apologize. It was our mistake," the maids stuttered quickly, lowering their heads.

"If you know you are wrong, then reflect on yourselves."

The woman who spoke was Silia, the late queen's most trusted lady-in-waiting.

Everyone treated him like a cursed child. He only saw his cold father once, and the king never visited again. Only Silia treated him with genuine warmth. Seeing this, Ryan's heart was momentarily filled with a sense of security. He realized he truly had no one else. Silia had chosen to stand by him.

After four months, Silia discovered poison in his food. On another occasion, a maid flipped him upside down and whispered, "Little fellow, go to sleep. Your mother is waiting for you." Her voice sent a chill down his spine.

This woman… Are all the palace maids against me? I didn't do anything. Why are you harming me?

Fortunately, Silia arrived at the right moment and saved him.

Two assassination attempts left Silia worried, but she was merely a palace maid with no real power. She could only protect him as best she could.

More bad news followed.

The second concubine, Helena, rose to power and became the new queen. Soon after, Liser was exiled to a distant mansion under the pretext of being cursed.

Yet, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Life there was peaceful, and the servants were polite. Under Silia's care, he spent his first four years in relative peace.

During those years, he was not idle.

He learned to speak at the age of two. From overheard conversations and Silia's subtle remarks, he began to understand his situation.

"The queen was replaced so quickly."

"I think the former queen had already fallen out of favor. Otherwise, how could a new queen ascend the throne so fast?"

He learned that the current queen had once attempted to harm his mother but failed. Her first son was born soon after, helping her secure the position of queen. However, that son showed little talent for ruling and was obsessed only with warfare.

On the other hand, another concubine's child had shown great potential, and now Ryan's mother in this world died during childbirth. According to Silia, she had been perfectly fine before, but something went wrong, and she bled excessively. No matter how one looked at it, it was suspicious.

After learning all this, Ryan's expression became complicated.

He had been overjoyed to discover he was reborn into a royal family, but he never expected to be caught in such a vicious power struggle. Coming from a normal background in his previous life, the situation gave him a headache.

He sighed, feeling sleepy. Perhaps it was because his small child's brain was unable to process everything. Though he had never known his mother, he still felt a faint pang of sorrow. It might have been the lingering emotions of this body.

Could it be that the child also died, and he took over this body? Ryan sighed

But he would never give up.

In his past life, he had lived an ordinary existence and suffered. Now, this life had given him a golden opportunity. If he understood anything clearly, it was this: he needed power. He needed wealth. He needed status.

Thus, the story of Liser truly began.

Since the age of three, Liser has been reading books and has gradually come to understand the geography and political situation of the world.
