Chapter 7 - Chapter 6

Freedom.

It's what we want.

What we desire most.

What we yearn for.

But what happens when we get it?

Have a taste of the forbidden nectar and you will hunger for nothing.

A haze of a blur rose to greet the morning. Getting up already in motion, it ran around the room cleaning everything before making its way to the bathroom. Taking only a few minutes within before darting out.

Leaving the home as nothing more than a streak with the wind behind it, breaking the still silence of the slow zone.

She ran with a limiter that flashed with a single digit different from the one she wore the day before. A digit only a single step above it, and yet it was enough to make her feet feel light and unbound. It was enough to make her take a breath and let go with a smile on her face.

"Ho oh!!!!!" Rushina yelled out loud as she darted through the city, her streak rattling most of the other pedestrians zooming through the street alongside her.

Moving fast, Rushina made her way to a nearby food stall. Stopping there, she let out a heavy breath with her heart still racing with a form of ecstasy she had never felt before.

"You okay, little lady?" she heard the gruff voice of an old man speak from the stall.

Turning her head to face him, she looked at him for just a minute, registering his words and then smiling and nodding her head.

"Yeah, it's just," she looked down at her limiter. "A really good day for a run,"

"Isn't every day," the man joked with a light chuckle.

Rushina could only flash a light smile his way and say softly, "Yeah."

She then heard a rumble come from her stomach.

"Looks like someone's. Wanna grab a bite? I was just about to get started on chinta meat skewers," said the man.

"Er…" Before Rushina could give a reply, her stomach let out another loud rumble.

"That would be great actually," she spoke in a weak and soft voice.

The man just flashed a smile her way before saying, "Okay, but you'll have to wait awhile. I don't move as fast as I use to in my youth."

Rushina's limiter then pinged with a message from Zoomie.

"Are you coming to work today?"

Rushina looked down at it and paused for a moment before she began typing on her limiter.

"That's okay," she spoke to the old man as she hit send. "I'm in no hurry."

With the message to Zoomie reading: "I'll be there in a flash."

Zoomie just looked at Rushina's reply from her apartment with a confused look on her face. Wondering what she meant by 'she'd be there in a flash.'

"Yaseki," she spoke underneath a tired breath and nodded her head. Choosing not to think too much about it, all that mattered was that she would be at work today.

Her mind that flashed back to the grueling and total nightmare yesterday was for her, with a part of her being that she didn't have to face those customers again. But at the very same time another part of her felt sorry for Rushina, who had to deal with all that every day she showed up for work.

With a sigh, she could only pray to Yaseki above that she'd find the strength to bear it all just like she always had.

That was all she could do before racing out to the door and making her way to work.
