Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: Clan Meeting

The Yamanaka Clan's "Clan Meeting" was held in the clan's flower garden, specifically within the covered corridor of a two-story wooden building connected to the center of the garden. Clan members were gathered all along the long corridor, some leaning against pillars and others sitting casually on the wooden railings.

"Taking attendance now—Yamanaka Aoyama... Yamanaka Koji... Yamanaka..." Inoichi Yamanaka began the roll call, and those whose names were called responded.

Among those present, some had come in person, while others who were unable to attend due to other commitments had sent Shadow Clones.

The roll call was completed.

Inoichi Yamanaka got straight to the point:

"The Jonin and Chunin of the clan are all present according to the roll call. Therefore, the discussion for this meeting officially begins. First, I would like everyone to see something!"

Scrolls labeled 'Hai Flash' and 'Hai Shi no Jutsu' were handed out, and Inoichi Yamanaka allowed the clan members to pass them around and read them first.

A burst of whispering broke out... "This Ninjutsu..."

"It's actually an auxiliary Ninjutsu specifically for our Secret Techniques... I wonder where the Clan Head got this from..."

"It seems this meeting is related to this matter..."

..."According to the principles of this auxiliary Secret Technique—in the future, when we perform the Mind Transfer Secret Technique, we won't have to send our entire spirit over at once. Instead, it'll be more like using spiritual energy to control a puppet... This Ninjutsu..."

The "value" of such a thing was obvious not just to the Jonin and Chunin, but even the ordinary Genin could see its worth.

Inoichi Yamanaka waited until the clan members attending the meeting had discussed it thoroughly and reached a consensus before he finally spoke to explain:

"Both of these Ninjutsu come from Ino. So there is no need to be surprised by their origin... Therefore, the topic of this meeting is about Ino."

Inoichi Yamanaka's words left the clan members utterly shocked—after all, Ino was only four years old. A four-year-old child wouldn't even be clear on what Chakra is, let alone the fact that they had all heard Ino had been learning hand signs for a long time and was "talentless." How could these Ninjutsu have been invented by Ino? Just the basic principles within these Ninjutsu... is that the kind of knowledge a four-year-old could possess?

Inoichi Yamanaka quite enjoyed the "shock" of the clan members; the more shocked they were, the more he, as her father, felt a sense of shared glory.

As the old saying goes, "To achieve wealth and honor and not return home is like walking in the dark wearing silk clothes." If you don't show off when your own child is a genius, it's physically uncomfortable!

"Although it does sound a bit hard to believe, it is the truth. Ino indeed has a unique natural talent in this regard. Her slow progress in learning hand signs before was actually for another reason—she was doing it just to feel the nature of the hand signs themselves. She places great importance on details that others overlook, which is why she has abilities that others do not."

"So, the matter I want to address in this clan meeting is this. To avoid wasting Ino's talent, I am proposing an idea in my capacity as Clan Head. If you all agree..."

...The clan members pricked up their ears.

Inoichi Yamanaka then stated his thoughts: "First, the Yamanaka Clan's Ninjutsu, miscellaneous studies, and various book collections will be open to Ino. She can access any book or Secret Technique at any time, and within certain limits, she can utilize some clan personnel—limited to Ninjutsu experimentation and recording. Second, we will collect as much Ninjutsu data as possible..."

"Accessing books," "experimenting with Ninjutsu," and "collecting Ninjutsu data"—he mentioned two points, but it was actually three things.

However, none of them were considered major issues.

"Agreed!"

"Agreed!"

The clan members raised their hands one after another to vote.

Ninjas have a high level of acceptance for "geniuses"—after all, the Ninja World has seen one young genius after another.

Inoichi Yamanaka added: "From now on, every Ninjutsu researched by Ino will be included in the Yamanaka Clan's school curriculum... But as the creator of the Ninjutsu, Ino will permanently enjoy half of the proceeds from these techniques—the tuition fees from the young clan members will be allocated to Ino's name proportionally."

There was nothing to argue about here; it was very fair... The clan members nodded again. Of course, if they had known how many Ninjutsu Ino would come up with in the future... they might have reconsidered.

The Yamanaka Clan meeting ended in such a friendly atmosphere. Inoichi Yamanaka's younger brother, Yamanaka Takeyasu, then asked Inoichi: "Does Ino... need to find an excellent private tutor? With such talent..."

Inoichi Yamanaka shook his head and said, "No, that won't do—a traditional teacher might be excellent for other children and a good guide, but for Ino..."

Yamanaka Takeyasu asked, "Is there a problem?"

"Yes, there's a problem." Inoichi Yamanaka nodded. He was very cautious regarding his daughter's issues and had thought things through thoroughly. "A traditional teacher would only bind Ino's genius. What she needs is not a guide to constrain her thoughts—but an open environment where she can get whatever resources she needs when she requires Ninjutsu resources."

"Big brother... is Ino really that much of a genius? But a genius always needs to grow; if there's no teacher for these things..."

"Takeyasu... I won't joke with Ino's future. An eagle of the sky must spread its wings and try to fly from a young age. We cannot keep her confined in a cage—right now, Ino is actually doing something incredible. I believe very soon, you will all be able to feel that kind of inconceivable thought and power..."

Inoichi Yamanaka patted Yamanaka Takeyasu on the shoulder.

After that, Ino received this "good news."

Inoichi Yamanaka rubbed his newly grown stubble against Ino's little face, lifted her high up, and asked, "Ino, are you happy? From now on, you can freely read all the books stored by the clan... If you have an idea, you can also find someone to help record it so you don't have to write it yourself, and you can even have people help with experiments..."

"Hmm... I want to find a beautiful secretary!" Ino proudly stated her "idea," and Inoichi Yamanaka laughed loudly.

When he mentioned the "Clan School" matter, Ino's understanding was that she would be "compiling textbooks"—goodness, this was compiling textbooks, and especially with continuous, fifty-fifty split earnings.

Ino's eyes sparkled... "Compiling textbooks—then how could just Ninjutsu be enough? Watch me compile the 'Principles of Chakra' and give the little kids in the clan a real hard time."

However, Ino, who was only thinking of making things difficult for the "little kids," never imagined—it wasn't the little kids she was making things difficult for!

The ones truly being "troubled" were the clan's Ninjutsu teachers.

The war between "new theory" and "old theory" is the most cruel; a clash at the level of thought has no smoke, yet it is also the most grueling.

Transformation—

Is a painful process.
