Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: Training

Soon, class was over. After class, Welt reminded Aili to follow Mei and learn the knowledge she had missed earlier.

After Welt left the classroom, the students inside couldn't help but gather around.

These new classmates were all curious as to why Aili was enrolling at this time, when the enrollment period had clearly passed a long time ago.

Previously, when Mei and the others enrolled, they weren't as curious because they knew Mei and the others were survivors of the Third Honkai Impact, brought back personally by Sister Himeko.

They knew Aili had returned with Dean Theresa, but they didn't know Aili was also a survivor of Nagazora City. Previous posts about Aili had been deleted once she arrived at the academy.

Many people believed Aili was also a powerful Valkyrie, as she had returned with Dean Theresa, which proved she could undertake missions with Dean Theresa. Dean Theresa was an S-Rank Valkyrie, after all; to be able to do missions with an S-Rank Valkyrie, even as support, she must at least be a B-rank.

To these classmates' guesses, Aili just smiled and only said that she was also from Nagazora City; otherwise, the academy wouldn't have arranged for her to live with Mei and the others.

Aili kept answering her classmates' questions with a smile, which made the surrounding classmates, after asking their questions, not leave. They all stood quietly to the side, listening to Aili's answers while looking at her.

Soon, the break time ended, and the second class of the morning began. This class was mathematics.

In this class, Aili was completely confused.

She didn't understand, she really didn't understand. Looking at the classmates around her who were listening attentively, did they all understand?

Had Aili been separated from this society? Why didn't they include Aili in their evolution?

Do Valkyries need to learn such advanced mathematics??

Aili's second class at school ended with her falling asleep.

Before Aili fell asleep, as she was nodding off, Fu Hua Class Monitor had already focused her attention on Aili.

Seeing Aili suddenly nod off sharply, Fu Hua Class Monitor gently supported Aili, then softly let Aili lean on her shoulder.

The teacher on the podium saw it and had no questions. After all, she knew the pain of math class. Although sleeping in class was bad, Aili was new today and so cute, so she should be more forgiving and didn't bother Aili.

Looking at Aili sleeping on her shoulder, Fu Hua Class Monitor frowned. It felt very familiar; she always felt like she had let someone lean on her shoulder and sleep like this before.

And with Aili's eyes closed, she felt even more familiar, and the style of Aili's clothes also seemed very familiar, as if she had worn similar clothes before.

And so, our good student Fu Hua Class Monitor also zoned out for a long time during math class.

After class, the surrounding classmates gathered around again, but upon seeing Aili sleeping, they all tried to lighten their movements.

At the same time, these classmates also saw that their rigid Class Monitor actually had a gentle side!

The sky was falling!

Their Class Monitor would actually let someone else lean on her shoulder and sleep!

The three little ones, upon seeing this, all expressed their opinions.

First was Kiana. She was very angry. Why did the teacher treat them differently? When she slept in class, the teacher wasn't so good-tempered!

Then there was Mei. She thought it was natural for Aili to be popular, but she didn't expect Aili to just fall asleep.

Finally, there was Bronya. She didn't have any other thoughts, she just saw Aili leaning on Fu Hua Class Monitor's shoulder and remembered the frail girl who had once leaned on her own shoulder.

When the third class was about to start, Fu Hua Class Monitor gently shook Aili and woke her up.

Aili, who had just opened her eyes, suddenly got up from Fu Hua Class Monitor's shoulder and sat there properly, because as soon as she opened her eyes, she remembered she was still in class!

She glanced at the classmates observing her, and the teacher wasn't on the podium anymore. It was over; her image in the eyes of her classmates and in the teacher's mind was beyond saving!

But that wasn't important. Aili cautiously glanced at Fu Hua Class Monitor. Seeing that she had no other actions, she let out a sigh of relief. "I'm very sorry, Fu Hua Class Monitor."

"It's nothing, Aili. But during class, you still need to listen carefully."

"I understand," Aili said, a little embarrassed.

Although she was open-minded and not afraid of anything, this situation was really quite...

Aili diligently listened through the remaining morning classes, but whether she remembered anything was another question.

By lunchtime, the three little ones and Aili sat together. Aili was almost burnt out by this point.

No matter how much enthusiasm she had, it couldn't withstand the teacher's lecturing voice.

But thankfully, there were no more academic classes in the afternoon; the afternoon was all training.

The entire afternoon was Sister Himeko's class.

As soon as class started, Sister Himeko smiled and looked at Aili. Aili, a little embarrassed, turned her head in another direction, avoiding Sister Himeko's teasing gaze.

After the teams had all assembled, "Alright, although we have a new classmate today, the training intensity won't change for you all! Now, everyone, first run ten laps around the track to warm up!"

Aili looked at the size of the track, then listened to Sister Himeko say ten laps... This was just a warm-up?

But seeing the accustomed expressions of her classmates around her, Aili confirmed it: these ten laps truly were just a warm-up.

Somewhat resigned, Aili followed beside Mei, jogging slowly around the track at Mei's pace.

After running a few laps, Aili felt nothing. Aili felt that if she continued at this speed, she could probably run until dark.

Everyone was running seriously; no one was looking left and right like Aili.

"Aili, run more seriously! If you think it's not challenging enough, add ten more laps!" Sister Himeko's voice came from across the track.

Aili quickly and obediently ran beside Mei. She didn't want to run any more laps.

After the warm-up, "Alright, everyone, rest in place for five minutes. Then we'll switch training grounds. Today's training will be simpler; it won't require much effort."

Then Sister Himeko walked over to Aili's side. "It seems your stamina is quite good, Aili."

Hearing Sister Himeko's words, Mei also nodded beside her. Being constantly next to Aili, she was the one who could best feel Aili's speed.

From the start of the run to the end, Aili's breathing wasn't disordered at all, and her speed was maintained very well, meaning that these ten laps were no different from a leisurely stroll for Aili.

"Is my stamina very good?" Only Aili herself was a bit unsure about her stamina.

"Have you trained before?" Sister Himeko asked a question.

"I haven't trained," Aili said with certainty.

"You haven't trained but can easily finish the warm-up, and you still say your stamina isn't good?" Sister Himeko said, patting Aili's back.

"Didn't all the classmates in the class finish?" Aili was playing dumb at this point. Indeed, her stamina was very good, even though this was her first time training.

"It's expected that they finished, after all, they've been training for so long. If they couldn't even finish the warm-up, they would have transferred to a normal school long ago." Sister Himeko looked deeply at Aili.

Aili didn't continue speaking. Explanations at this moment were the most powerless.

"Alright, everyone, gather up, prepare to change locations." When the time came, Sister Himeko called for the students on the track to change training grounds.

Sister Himeko led them into an underground facility where many machines, whose purpose Aili didn't know, were laid out.

"Alright, you all know what kind of training happens here. Everyone find a spot, then control the machines yourselves to begin training. I'll take our new classmate and explain how to use these machines." After Sister Himeko called out, Aili's classmates one by one entered the machine closest to them.

Once there was no one else outside, Sister Himeko led Aili to an empty machine.

She pressed something on the machine, and a door opened in front of it. "Alright, go in. This is your first time operating this machine. I'll operate it for you this time, but for future training, you'll have to operate it yourself." Saying this, Sister Himeko pushed Aili inside.

Once Aili was inside, the machine closed the door. Then, around Aili, one projection after another lit up, illuminating the space inside the machine. When all the projections connected, Aili felt as if she had entered an empty space.

Sister Himeko's voice then sounded in Aili's ear, "This machine is used to train reaction speed. However, training is always just training. When you're in actual combat later, don't apply the training directly to the fight."

"Are you ready, Aili?"

"I'm ready, Sister Himeko," Aili said after looking around.

"Then I'll start here."

As Sister Himeko's words fell, a rushing Honkai Beast appeared in Aili's vision, and it was rapidly approaching Aili.

"In this training, we're not training your offensive capabilities, only your reaction speed. So, for the next period, you must avoid all attacks as much as possible," Sister Himeko said, her tone very serious.

The Honkai Beast directly in front of Aili suddenly accelerated and charged towards Aili after reaching a certain distance.

Aili quickly dodged to the side, but unexpectedly, when the Honkai Beast rushed behind her, it suddenly spun around, and its wings directly struck Aili's body.

Aili looked at the projection that had passed through her body. She knew that her training had failed this time.

"Remember, Honkai Beasts won't move according to your thoughts. After all, they are the most unreasonable things."

"I remember, Teacher Himeko. I'll be serious. Let's continue." Aili decided to try seriously and see how many attacks she could dodge. Of course, she wouldn't use her incomplete Corruption ability. Inside this machine, she could easily hack into it.

But this time, Aili still didn't react in time. Right after she finished speaking, a wing's projection had already swept past her body.

"In sudden combat situations, enemies won't give you time to prepare, so you must always remain vigilant."

"Of course, this is just a machine, and it can't simulate all situations, such as the airflow caused by monster movement. This machine can't simulate these situations."

Aili didn't know what to say at this point. She had just cheered herself on to be serious, but then she was instantly defeated again.

"Next, you can choose the difficulty for your training. On your right-hand side, you'll see a panel where you can adjust the training intensity."

Aili glanced to her right; there was indeed a panel with various difficulties and conditions for the trainee to choose from.

After the setback just now, Aili decided to start from the lowest difficulty.

After an afternoon of training, Aili could perfectly dodge attacks from the front. She could dodge side attacks if she concentrated, but as for attacks from behind, sorry, she couldn't see them, couldn't dodge them. How could she possibly dodge them?

By the end, when Aili opened the machine, her legs were a bit weak. The moment she stepped out, she almost fell directly to the ground.

If Fu Hua Class Monitor hadn't happened to come over and help Aili up, Aili might have really fallen directly to the ground.

"Thank you, Hua." Aili took two deep breaths, adjusting her breathing. "Sure enough, Hua, you make people feel very secure."

"Hua?" Fu Hua Class Monitor didn't know why she came over to help Aili, but deep down, she strongly resisted seeing Aili fall.

"Hmm, can't I call you Hua? My very reliable Fu Hua Class Monitor-sama ♬ ~" Aili did it on purpose; she wanted to try and see if she could make Fu Hua Class Monitor remember something.

"If you want to call me that, then call me that." Fu Hua Class Monitor agreed to let Aili call her Hua. It seemed that someone had called her that a long, long time ago.

Fu Hua Class Monitor helped Aili to the resting area by the wall, then took out a bottle of water and handed it to Aili.

"Thank you." Aili took the water and thanked her again.

"You don't need to thank me," Fu Hua Class Monitor said inexplicably, then sat down next to Aili.

At this moment, Mei also slowly walked over, supported by Bronya. Seeing her trembling body, Aili knew that this training was also quite difficult for Mei.

As for Kiana, Aili had already seen Kiana arguing with Sister Himeko. From the looks of it, this training was still very easy for her.

Mei, supported by Bronya, sat down next to Aili. As soon as she sat down, she leaned to one side. Aili quickly reached out and pulled Mei, preventing her from falling to the ground.

Mei directly fell onto Aili's lap.

Suddenly, a weight was added to her thighs, which were already sore from exercise, and Aili trembled twice.

"Mei, are you alright?" Aili looked at Mei, who was lying on her lap.

"I'm fine, just overtrained," Mei's breathless voice came through.

Bronya also went to get water and handed it to Mei.

Mei struggled twice, then finally used her hand to support Aili's leg and sat up.

Aili bit her lower lip, trying not to make a sound.

After sitting up, Mei saw Aili's expression and said somewhat flustered, "Are you alright, Aili? I'm so sorry."

"It's alright, Mei. How did you train yourself to this state? In my understanding, Mei, although a very hardworking child, shouldn't be so reckless," Aili said, softening her voice. Aili's voice now had no musicality, which showed how tiring this training was.

"Because I don't want to drag you down," Mei said after taking a sip of the water Bronya handed her.

"But Mei is already working so hard, and aren't you already very strong, Mei?"

"But I still can't catch up to you, so I can only train as much as possible," Mei said, looking Aili up and down. "And Aili, you're not much better than me, are you?"

"Mine was an accident," Aili said, blushing a little. "I wanted to test my limits, but when I was setting the time, I set it wrong, so I just tried to dodge as much as possible."

"So Aili makes mistakes like that too," Mei chuckled weakly. "Kiana also made that mistake before."

"So I wasn't the only one who messed up?" Aili gave a dry laugh.

Fu Hua Class Monitor, listening to their conversation from the side, spoke, "Training should be done in moderation. It's not that the more you train, the better the results."

After speaking, Fu Hua Class Monitor stood up and left.

Watching Fu Hua Class Monitor leave, Aili covered her mouth and chuckled twice, "Hua's way of caring for people is quite special, isn't it? She clearly cares a lot, but she's still so awkward."

Mei looked at the departing Fu Hua Class Monitor, then at Aili. "How do you know Class Monitor is caring, Aili?"

"It's just... a feeling," Aili said playfully. By now, her physical strength had recovered somewhat, though the soreness in her legs was still unbearable, but thankfully, it wasn't as intense when she wasn't moving.

Bronya watched the two chatting and squatted beside them, helping them massage their leg muscles.

Mei was fine, as Bronya had already massaged her before, so she was mentally prepared. It was just her constantly bitten lower lip and flushed face that Aili kept teasing her about.

While Aili was teasing, Mei didn't say a word, just glared fiercely at Aili, but that expression made Aili not know how to describe it, as if Mei was seducing her.

After Bronya finished, Mei completely slumped into the chair.

Then it was Aili's turn.

When Bronya put her hands on Aili's legs, Aili understood why Mei had that expression earlier.

When she first started kneading, she couldn't help but cry out, then quickly covered her mouth with her hand.

Her whole body was tensing up.

Mei saw Aili's expression from the side. "Now, do you know why I had that expression, Miss Aili?"

Mei even reached out and poked Aili's thigh repeatedly.

At this point, Aili also glared fiercely at Mei.

Soon, Bronya finished the massage.

Aili also let out a sigh of relief. "Bronya, did you specifically learn massage? You're very skilled."

Bronya sat down next to them. "Yes, Bronya has learned massage." After all, when Bronya was still an assassin, she had learned most things.

"Bronya really is versatile," Aili said, because in the dorm, Bronya always knew some strange things. If there was anything she didn't know, she just asked Bronya.

At this moment, Kiana also walked over, still muttering something under her breath, but the distance was a bit far, so Aili didn't hear what she was saying.

Kiana reached Mei's side and directly threw herself into Mei's arms.

"Mei, Mei, Teacher Himeko bullied me!" Kiana immediately started complaining.

Mei could only pat Kiana's head. "Teacher Himeko certainly wouldn't bully you for no reason, right?"

"But..." Kiana then saw Mei's gaze. "Alright, it was my fault."

The four of them rested there for a while. When their stamina had mostly recovered, they helped each other up and planned to return to the dorm.

Sister Himeko had already left; she still had to go back to the office to handle some things, so she wouldn't go back with Aili and the others.
