Chapter 30 - VS Beedrill!

Living in the same forest, it wasn't the first time the Combee had run into Beedrill while gathering nectar in the wild.

Although they were momentarily thrown into panic at first, it didn't take long before an older female Combee stepped forward. In the absence of the Vespiquen, she took on the role of leader and organized the Combee to prepare a counterattack against the Beedrill.

"What do you think, Pichu?"

There were five invading Beedrill in total. If Pichu were to face all five alone—without any type advantage and at a numerical disadvantage—Chen Mo would've grabbed Pichu and run without hesitation.

But with the Combee present, Chen Mo felt it was worth a try. Maybe they could even earn the Combee's gratitude—and that Honey he'd been craving for so long.

Faced with Chen Mo's question, Pichu glanced at the Beedrill tangled up in combat with the Combee, carefully assessing their strength. Then it patted its chest confidently.

"Pichu pichu!"

"Don't underestimate them, Pichu. The most dangerous part of Beedrill lies in the poison stingers on their arms and tails—especially the one on their tail. Not only is it the most toxic, it can also be used for ranged attacks."

Hearing the reminder, Pichu took another careful look at the Beedrill, then nodded firmly at Chen Mo, clearly memorizing the parts that posed the greatest threat.

"There's no rush. Right now, the Beedrill's attention is entirely on the Combee. In a moment, we'll sneak in quietly, seize the right opportunity, and strike one of them first—try to make it lose its fighting capability in an instant…"

With the boost from the Light Ball, Chen Mo was fairly confident in Pichu's strength.

Still, since this was their first real battle against other Pokémon, Chen Mo was operating at full focus.

The atmosphere in the livestream grew tense along with his words.

[You're really letting little Pichu fight those Beedrill? Won't it get hurt? Mo-bao, maybe we should just forget it…]

[Pichu isn't worried—why are you? Mo-bao respected Pichu's choice, and Pichu is willing to fight. I think that's great.]

[A Pokémon vs Pokémon battle? This is my first time seeing one. I'm weirdly excited.]

[Go, Pichu and Mo-bao! Drive away those Beedrill invading the Combee!]

Inside the flower field.

The Beedrill were incredibly fast, their flight speed clearly surpassing that of the Combee. With their high mobility, they swung the poison stingers on their arms again and again, launching rapid thrusts at the Combee.

If an attack missed, they immediately retreated.

Their movements were sleek and clean—like assassins.

On the other side, the Combee, now organized under the older leader, were no slouches either. As Flying-type Pokémon—and like Pidgey, proficient in using Gust—they weren't without the ability to fight back against the Bug-type Beedrill.

Back and forth they went, the battle falling into a stalemate.

Then, in a flash—

A sudden flanking maneuver by one Beedrill broke the balance.

This particularly clever Beedrill found an opening on the left wing of the Combee formation, targeting a Combee that was clearly not very skilled at using Gust.

After waiting for the Combee to finish releasing a round of Gust, the Beedrill vibrated its wings and lunged in, flashing right up beside it.

Just as the Beedrill was about to end the Combee with its stinger, a voice rang out.

"Pichu! Grab its antennae!"

Before the Beedrill could even react, a heavy weight suddenly slammed onto its back. The next instant, its antennae were yanked violently backward, forcibly interrupting the attack it had been about to unleash.

Seeing Pichu riding on the Beedrill's back—pulling hard on its two antennae like someone driving a carriage—Chen Mo knew they'd succeeded.

This was exactly the moment he'd been waiting for.

Antennae were critical to Beedrill. Their sense of touch, smell, and even their ability to fly were all heavily dependent on them.

With its antennae seized, the Beedrill panicked like an ant on a hot pan, flailing wildly through the air.

"Now, Pichu—use Thunder Shock!"

At Chen Mo's command, under the gaze of countless viewers, brilliant electricity rapidly gathered around Pichu. Crackling arcs of lightning wrapped around its body.

Scenes that had previously only been seen in shaky, stolen footage now unfolded live on stream, delivering an entirely different, overwhelming impact.

Chen Mo's command.

Pichu's execution.

The two meshed together seamlessly.

"Pi—CHU—!!!"

The raging electricity exploded outward. A full-powered Thunder Shock detonated without restraint, and the Beedrill let out an agonized screech before instantly losing consciousness and plummeting from the sky.

Timing it perfectly, Pichu used the falling Beedrill as a stepping stone, gave a light hop, and landed safely on the ground.

For a brief moment, the entire livestream chat seemed to freeze.

Then—

The screen was completely drowned in a flood of comments.

[That was insanely cool!!!]

[Spamming support for Pichu!!!]

[Oh my god, how can there be a Pokémon this cool and this strong?! Mo-bao, please give Pichu to me—I can't live without it ┮﹏┭]

[I never thought Mo-bao was handsome before, but watching him command Pichu in battle—holy crap, how can this man be so stylish? I thought I only liked 2D girls!]

[Don't say anything—count me in. Mo-bao and Pichu were unbelievably cool just now!]

[I'm completely stunned. Now I want to raise a Pokémon too—even a Caterpie would do!]

[Pichu, use Thunder Shock!]

[Worthy of being the first man in history to command Pokémon in battle. That coordination was flawless.]

Ignoring the chat entirely, Chen Mo focused his gaze on the remaining four Beedrill.

At this moment, the battle between the Combee and the Beedrill in the flower field had already come to a halt due to Chen Mo and Pichu's sudden intervention.

The Combee naturally recognized Chen Mo as the strange human who'd been standing by the edge of the field earlier, but they couldn't understand why he and Pichu had suddenly stepped in to help them.

Still, they understood one thing clearly—

Chen Mo and Pichu were on their side.

Especially the Combee that Pichu had just saved. It flew over immediately, wings buzzing loudly as it circled Pichu, repeatedly expressing its gratitude.

The enthusiasm left Pichu a little embarrassed.

On the other side—

Chen Mo looked at the four Beedrill hovering midair, their posture tense and wary, and smiled faintly.

"Well? Do you still want to keep fighting?"

As he spoke, Pichu hopped back onto Chen Mo's shoulder, eyes locked onto the Beedrill. Sparks of electricity crackled across its pink cheeks, wordlessly threatening them with sheer strength.
