Derek's
I sat at my desk with the letter from the council held tightly in my hand. I squeezed it until the paper was nothing but a crumpled ball in my fist. The words written on that page felt like they were burning behind my eyes. The language was formal and cold, delivered with a finality that made my blood boil. They had actually done it. They had held a secret vote behind my back. They wanted me gone. They wrote that I was to be removed from my position and replaced as if I were nothing more than a broken tool.
