Chapter 59 - Rage

Standing off to the side, Jiraiya watched the scene unfold—

Naruto's tear-filled eyes finally finding release, his smile bright and unburdened at last, and Tsunade's domineering yet utterly dependable back.

This man, who had weathered countless storms, felt his eyes grow moist as well—

yet the corners of his mouth lifted high.

In his heart, he shouted silently:

Minato… Kushina… can you see this?

Your son… he can finally—truly—live in the sunlight now.

That's wonderful.

Not long after Tsunade finished speaking with Naruto, a notice—personally issued by the Fifth Hokage's office—was posted across every bulletin board in Konoha and transmitted through every level of the shinobi system.

The wording was concise.

But its impact was earth-shattering.

Effective immediately, Naruto Uzumaki is formally cleared of all past false accusations.

His true identity is hereby announced:

Son of the Fourth Hokage, Namikaze Minato, and Uzumaki Kushina.

All previous rumors are nullified. Let this be known.

The instant the villagers read the announcement, all of Konoha fell into an eerie silence—one that lasted several full seconds.

Then—

Like a volcanic eruption, shock and uproar swept through every corner of the village.

"W-What?!"

"Am I seeing things? Naruto Uzumaki… the Fourth Hokage's son?!"

"How is that possible?! The Fourth was a hero who died for the village! How could his child be… the 'demon fox'?"

"But this came from Lady Tsunade herself. There's no way it's wrong."

"Then… what have we been doing to that kid all these years…?"

"No wonder Lady Tsunade moved so decisively the moment she took office—this was about restoring the Fourth Hokage's legacy!"

"My god… we treated a hero's son like that…"

The streets.

The Academy.

The mission center.

Homes across the village.

Everyone was talking.

Shock. Disbelief. Shame. Confusion.

Countless emotions tangled across the faces of Konoha's people.

Those who had once glared at Naruto with hostility—or hurled cruel words his way—now felt their faces burn with humiliation, shame crashing down on them like a wave.

The "demon fox" they had feared and rejected…

was the orphaned son of the Fourth Hokage they revered?

The contrast was unbearable.

After all, Namikaze Minato was the only Hokage born of commoners—

the pride of the village's ordinary people.

"I… I'm a disgrace…"

The words were murmured again and again.

The Ninja Academy erupted.

"Naruto… that idiot… is the Fourth Hokage's kid?!"

Kiba gaped, Akamaru perched on his head, his jaw nearly hitting the floor.

"So… he never brought disaster at all…"

Hinata whispered softly, her eyes filled with aching sympathy—and relief.

"Tch… that dead last…"

Sasuke clenched his fists, emotions churning violently.

He had always believed he was special—

the prodigy, the avenger, the one bearing an extraordinary fate.

Yet the dead last he'd always looked down on possessed a background so…

tragic, and so overwhelming.

Beneath Hokage Rock, villagers gathered of their own accord, gazing up at the stone visage of the Fourth Hokage's gentle smile.

When they thought of that lonely blond boy—

tears of remorse streamed down many faces.

With a single notice, the tide of public opinion in Konoha flipped completely.

"Naruto Uzumaki" transformed overnight—

from a symbol of calamity and rejection

into the unjustly wronged heir of heroes, a figure deserving sympathy and respect.

Tsunade had used the most direct, most forceful method imaginable to tear Naruto free from years of misery.

She knew one announcement couldn't erase every prejudice overnight.

Naruto's future would still be something he had to walk himself.

But from this moment on—

when he walked beneath Konoha's sun,

what he carried was no longer the curse of the "demon fox,"

but the honor of being a hero's son.

This was Tsunade's belated gift to the child—

and her most uncompromising correction of the old era's mistakes.

Even the sky over Konoha seemed a little clearer because of it.

Yet after the initial shock faded, something even fiercer followed.

Rage.

As people recovered their senses, the logic became painfully clear:

The Fourth Hokage was a hero who died protecting the village.

His son should have been cherished and respected by all.

But what kind of life had Naruto Uzumaki lived?

Isolation. Rejection. Being cursed as the "demon fox."

So—

who was responsible?

The blame snapped into focus with brutal precision.

The retired Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi—

and the former Konoha high command under his rule.

"Hiruzen Sarutobi! What exactly did you people do?!"

"Why was Naruto's identity hidden?!"

"Fine, you played politics and protected your factions—but why treat a hero's orphan like this?!"

"How do you answer to the Fourth Hokage?! To the Will of Fire?!"

Waves of accusations, condemnation, and furious shouting surged toward the Sarutobi clan compound.

Though no one could breach the heavily guarded grounds, it didn't stop crowds from gathering outside—voices raised, emotions boiling, demanding answers and justice.

Those in the most agony were the Fourth Hokage's former subordinates—

and the shinobi and families Minato had once saved.

They hadn't known.

Under deliberate information suppression and the constant spread of "demon fox" rumors, even they had—

gone with the flow,

looked at the boy coldly,

spoken words that wounded him.

Now that the truth was revealed, remembering their own actions—

and comparing them with Minato's past kindness and protection—

a suffocating guilt swallowed them whole.

"I… I yelled at him once… told him to stay away from me…"

"The Fourth Hokage saved my life… and I treated his son like that?!"

"I should die of shame…"

The guilt was so intense it drove some to the brink of despair.

And so, their fury turned toward the ones who had hidden the truth—

while their remorse took another form.

Night after night, people quietly brought gifts.

Food.

Toys.

Clothes.

Even expensive ninja tools.

They left them silently at Naruto's new home—

under cover of darkness or when no one was watching.

Before long, the offerings piled up into a small mountain.
