He vanished.
It wasn't an absence, but pure speed. And the only record of his movement was the sound of impact. His fist connected with Inori's stomach with the full force of his metal prosthesis.
Inori was launched off the ground.
Her feet left the earth and her body flew backward, bent over the point of impact, until she crashed into a mound of dirt that gave under her weight and partially engulfed her.
Evelyne reached her in a second.
She grabbed her by the head. Her metal fingers closed around her skull with a firmness that wasn't cruelty, just unmodulated strength. She began dragging her backward as if her weight didn't exist.
Something wrapped around Inori from above. Three pink tentacles seized her by the torso, shoulders, and hips with a force pulling in the opposite direction.
Freja let out a small laugh.
"I want to hit things too."
Inori spat blood.
