As they neared the peak of the first summit, Joji found his thoughts straying back to the troll they had eaten.
Curiosity got the better of him, and he called up his status window, half hoping the creature's flesh had given him something worthwhile.
What he saw left him disappointed.
None of his attributes had risen. Not by a full point, not even by half.
The numbers sat where they had before, stubborn and unmoved, as if the troll's meat had been nothing more than common fare.
Still, it had not been for nothing. He had gained something. Just not the kind he had hoped to see.
