Inside the portal…
Damn, it's humid, and it looks like we are in a forest.
"How, though, weren't we just on earth?" Lyra asked.
My best guess is that these portals are gateways connecting Earth to other worlds inhabited by monsters. Because the portals link the two realms together, the monsters can eventually break through into Earth if the portals are left unchecked.
"That explains why adventurers are in
such high demand," Lio added.
Yes, but I'm more curious about these other words. If Earth and this world are connected, then this world must be within the same space-time as Earth, but where or when?
That's a question for me to answer later.
Let's clear this portal so we can get paid and clear a few more before the end of the day.
Then Aerin continued further into the forest as his friends followed…
Eventually, Aerin and his team came across a hillside with a cave…
Well, we haven't found any monsters yet. Let's be cautious while we explore this cave.
In the cave...
"It reeks in here; it smells of blood and death," Lio said, covering his nose.
Of course it does, there are goblins ahead, and they are eating some sort of animal.
Let's ambush them while they are busy. Y'all ready?
"Ready as ever," Lyra replied.
Then they rushed towards the goblins and beat them...
"Hey guys, there is a massive door over here," Aelira said while standing in front of the massive 25-foot-tall door.
Alright guys, we can do one of two things. We can continue to explore and open this massive door and risk there being a powerful monster on the other side, or we can turn back and not risk it and go clear another portal.
"We are already this far in, why not see it through to the end?" Lio replied.
"I agree with Lio, we've already come this far, let's see it through," Lyra added.
How about you hun?
"I'm fine with continuing," Aelira replied.
Alright, in we go then.
Then Aerin pushed the massive door open, and they saw a massive goblin sitting on a throne with two smaller goblins on either side...
"Who dares come into my domain?" The Goblin King asked.
It doesn't really matter now, does it?
"Not really because I'll kill you puny little humans in an instant," The Goblin King replied, getting up from his throne.
Oh, really now? Well, you are welcome to try.
Then Aerin and The Goblin King rushed at each other...
Boom! Pow! Crash! Whack!
The fight continued with no side seeming to overpower the other...
Well, you are definitely stronger than most of the opponents I have faced, but you are still just an ant in my eyes.
After Aerin said that, he began to unleash his Aura, and it caused not only The Goblin King to cower in fear but also his friends...
"What are you?" The Goblin King asked.
It doesn't matter since you are already dead.
Then The Goblin King looked down at his body and noticed there was a hole in his chest. As he slowly looked back up, he noticed Aerin holding his heart...
"But how?" The Goblin King asked as he drew his last breath.
Then Aerin crushed The Goblin King's heart...
As Aerin began to leave, he felt as if he had gained another power but decided to ignore it...
Let's go claim our reward and get some food.
"Yeah, but we need to talk while we eat," Lio said.
After Aerin and his team had claimed their reward and found a place to eat...
Alright, now that we have our food, what did you want to talk about?
"Just how strong have you gotten from your time in heaven till now?" Lio asked.
I don't really know, but I'd say around fifty times stronger. I also learned many skills.
"What abilities did you learn?" Lyra asked with curiosity.
Hmm, let's see...there is Absolute Freeze, there is Supernova, there is Teleportation, there is Dominant Aura, there is Death Aura, there is Physical Enhancement, and there is Divine Eye.
Léōn taught me quite a few abilities over the years but those are the new ones.
"There is an even greater gap between us now, I'll never catch up to him. It seems he's destined to be beyond even infinity, I can't keep up," Lio thought.
Let's eat up and go find another portal, y'all alright with that?
"Yeah," Lio, Lyra, and Aelira all replied simultaneously.
I like the energy.
After everyone finished eating…
Let's find a B-Rank portal.
"Alright, one more question though," Lio said.
Yeah, what's your question?
"Where you holding back at the Adventurers Association?" Lio asked.
Yes and quite a bit. I only used around 10% of my power.
Lio in that moment felt as if he was looking at a mountain that could never be climbed…
