Chapter 17 - With Love, Your Fairy Godmother

Jennifer took the letter from him.

If she could read a "book" written by a child in her K1 class, she could probably read anything—even hieroglyphics.

Fortunately, it was neither.

It was simply a letter, written in beautiful cursive penmanship.

My Dearest Prince Angus,

Should the weight of your crown grow heavy, and the noise of court and kingdom weary your noble heart, you will always have refuge with me.

My abode is modest, yet it has known love and laughter, and it shall know yours again. Should you require a quiet sanctuary for rest and remembrance, it would please me beyond measure to receive you.

I have kept your mother's apartment exactly as it was in her time—untouched, as though she had only just stepped out for a morning walk. May it bring you comfort, as it once brought her peace.

With unwavering affection and devotion,

Your Fairy Godmother.

"My godmother was the landlady here when my mother was still a commoner," Prince Angus explained. "She was the only family my mother said she had in this world. I understand it was a long time ago, but I would still like to stay—especially if my mother's apartment is still here."

"What about your castle?" Jennifer asked. What would he do about the monstrosity he had built next to the university in Chapter 57?

Prince Angus shrugged. "It proved too grand for my purpose. I shall require more… common living quarters."

Well. There was already a boy idol group and a young alpha wolf living here. What was one love-struck prince?

"Come along then," Jennifer said with a small shrug. "Let's sort this out in the office."

And then she remembered the horse.

Actually, she smelled it.

"But first," she added, glancing toward the lobby, "please park your horse outside."

Prince Angus looked faintly offended.

"He is not a carriage."

"I am aware," Jennifer said patiently. "But this is not a stable."

The horse snorted as if in agreement.

The werewolf warrior bared his teeth slightly.

Adrian rubbed his temples.

The redhead whispered, "This is better than Netflix."

He whispered too loudly and caught Adrian's attention.

"You better not be on livestream, EJ."

"Not me!" The redhead bounced and waved both hands in the air in protest.

The other phones quickly disappeared in the background.

Meanwhile, the prince was still deliberating the parking options available for his horse.

"There is a backyard," Jennifer offered. "It's fenced and away from the main road."

Angus gave a small, dignified nod, as though granting a royal concession. "Very well. Nimbus and I shall relocate."

"Nimbus?" Jennifer repeated.

"My steed."

Of course.

Angus turned, his arm swishing dramatically—despite the absence of any actual cloak—and allowed the wolf doorman to lead both prince and horse down the connected hallway toward the backyard.

Nimbus left another… contribution.

Jennifer closed her eyes briefly.

That was why fairy tales stank in real life.
