Chapter 60 - Chpt 58: Wild Current

The Land of Lightning was a jagged, vertical world where the clouds didn't just hang in the sky—they sat on the shoulders of the mountains. Here, the air was perpetually ionized, a constant low-level hum that vibrated in the teeth of any traveler. It was the ancestral home of the Voltage Gate, and for the Hatake, it was a pilgrimage of blood.

Renju stood at the edge of the Canyon of Whispers, his indigo cloak whipping in the gale. Beside him, Saya and Kakashi were anchored to the rock using the polarization techniques they had perfected at the Iron Plateau.

"The Gold and Silver Brothers' descendants aren't just shinobi," Renju explained, his voice cutting through the wind like a blade. "They carry the 'Sovereign Treasures' of the Sage of Six Paths. Specifically, we are hunting the Kōkinjō and the Shichishiken. These aren't just weapons; they are conduits for the absolute suppression of a soul."

Kakashi looked at his hands. Even here, in the natural cradle of lightning, his skin felt different. The static in the air was trying to "talk" to the Voltage Gate in his chest.

"They use the Nine-Tails' chakra to supplement their own," Saya noted, her dual blades reflecting the purple flashes in the clouds above. "If we engage them, we aren't just fighting lightning; we're fighting a Tailed Beast's echo."

"Which is why we aren't fighting them with speed," Renju said. "We are fighting them with Pressure. Kakashi, your task is to isolate the Kōkinjō (Golden Canopy Rope). It creates a vacuum where chakra cannot flow. If you can move within that vacuum, you have mastered the Stillness of the Abyss."

While the Hatake team moved like ghosts through the lightning peaks, Team Minato was facing a different kind of storm in the Land of Frost.

Minato Namikaze was pinned. He was facing a battalion of Cloud Jonin, but his primary concern wasn't the enemy—it was his own student.

Obito Uchiha was standing in the center of the battlefield, his black visor shattered. His eyes were wide, the forced Sharingan tomoe spinning so fast it looked like a solid ring of blood. He wasn't crying; he was laughing, a high, strained sound that made Rin recoil in horror.

"I see it!" Obito roared. "I see the flicker! I see the heartbeats!"

He lunged forward, but his movement wasn't the fluid grace of the Uchiha. It was a jagged, violent surge. The Heavenly Stimulation Method was tearing his muscles as fast as it was fueling them. He struck a Cloud Chunin, but instead of a clean kill, he unleashed a blast of raw, unrefined Fire Style that scorched everything in a ten-foot radius—including Rin's medical supplies.

"Obito, stop!" Rin screamed, dodging a stray ember. "You're burning out!"

Minato vanished in a yellow flash, appearing behind Obito and slamming a palm into his back to disrupt his chakra flow. Obito collapsed, the red light in his eyes fading into a dull, agonizing grey.

"The mission is scrubbed," Minato said, his voice trembling with a rare, cold fury. "Rin, prep the sedatives. We're going back to the village. I'm going to have a word with Danzō that he won't forget."

Minato looked at the horizon. He realized now that the "Will of Fire" was being smothered. One of his students was a broken weapon, and the other—the one he had hoped would be the bridge—was a stranger training under a "Calamity" in the Land of Lightning.

At the border of the Cloud, the Hatake team found their targets. The descendants of the Gold and Silver brothers were a pair of twins named Gin and Kin, each wielding a massive, glowing relic.

Kin swung the Kōkinjō, a thick, golden rope that crackled with orange-red chakra. It didn't strike the body; it struck the identity.

"Leaf rats!" Kin roared. "You think you can play with the Sage's toys?"

Renju stepped forward, but he didn't draw his sword. He opened the Sixth Gate, and the surrounding rain simply ceased to fall, pushed away by the sheer density of his aura.

"Saya, take the left flank. Kakashi, the rope is yours. Show me the Pressure."

Kakashi engaged the Second Gate. He felt the "Wild" lightning of the Land of Lightning trying to invade his pathways. He didn't fight it. He used the Abyssal Stillness to "sink" the external energy into his own gate.

As the golden rope lashed out, Kakashi didn't dodge. He moved inward. He calculated the frequency of the Kōkinjō's chakra and adjusted the Voltage Gate to match it perfectly.

To the Cloud twins, it looked like the boy had vanished into the rope itself. Kakashi slid along the golden cord, his hands polarized to create zero friction. He appeared inches from Kin's face, his silver tanto humming with a violet-black light.

"Hatake Style: Void Piercer."

The strike didn't cut flesh. It pierced the connection between the user and the treasure. The golden rope went limp, the Nine-Tails' chakra back-feeding into Kin and causing him to vomit blood.

Saya moved in the same heartbeat. Her blades, enhanced by the Abyssal Pressure, struck the Shichishiken (Seven Star Sword) held by Gin. She didn't try to break the legendary blade; she used the Swift Style to create a vacuum around it, depriving the sword of the air it needed to manifest its elemental effects.

With a twin strike, the treasures hit the dirt.

Renju walked over to the fallen relics. He didn't pick them up with his hands; he used a containment scroll made of lead and Abyssal-pressed paper.

"These will serve as the foundation for your next stage, Kakashi," Renju said, looking at the exhausted seven-year-old. "The village will hear of this and claim these belong in the Leaf's vault. We will tell them they are welcome to come and take them from the Estate."

Kakashi nodded, his breathing heavy. His silver hair was scorched, and his small hands were raw, but for the first time, he felt a sense of equilibrium. He wasn't just a child being pushed; he was a component of a machine that worked.

"We have what we came for," Saya said, sealing her blades. "But the Cloud won't let us leave their borders easily. The Raikage will be informed within the hour."

"Let him come," Renju said, his eyes glowing with the indigo light of the Abyss. "Renza is already moving to the Northern border to intercept any pursuit. The Twin Calamities are finally operating on the same map again."

As the Hatake team crossed back into the Land of Fire, they didn't return to a village in celebration. They returned to a village in a state of high-tension anxiety.

Minato's team had returned three hours prior. Obito was in a coma, his chakra pathways scarred by the ROOT-taught "shortcuts." Rin was in tears, refusing to leave the hospital wing. And Danzō... Danzō was nowhere to be found.

When Renju, Saya, and Kakashi walked through the gates, the ANBU didn't even try to stop them. They simply watched as the three "ghosts" walked toward the Hatake Estate, carrying weapons that were older than the village itself.

The "New Order" had reached its zenith. The Leaf had its heroes, but the Hatake had the power. And as the war entered its final, most brutal year, it was becoming clear that the "Will of Fire" was a candle in a world that was being consumed by the Abyssal Tide.
