Chapter 67 - Chpt 65: Independence

The morning after the audit, the Hidden Leaf awoke to find the North End transformed. The Hatake Estate was no longer just a collection of buildings; it had become a geographic anomaly. A thick, swirling mist of ionized particles clung to the perimeter, shimmering with an indigo hue that hummed with a frequency that made the village's standard sensory barrier short-circuit.

The response from the Council was swift and terminal. By noon, a formal decree was posted on the mission board: The Hatake Clan is declared Missing-nin in entirety. The Estate is under total blockade. Any individual entering or exiting the North End is to be apprehended or eliminated.

The blockade was led by the Uchiha Military Police and ROOT. They set up a perimeter fifty yards from the Hatake gates, but they quickly realized the "Atmospheric Shroud" was more than just a smoke screen.

"Stay back!" an Uchiha officer barked as a young Genin tried to approach the mist.

A stray bird flew into the indigo haze. The moment it crossed the threshold, it didn't fly through; it hit the air as if it were solid concrete. The bird dropped, not dead, but completely paralyzed by the Abyssal Pressure held in the vapor.

Inside the shroud, the world was silent. Renju stood in the center of the courtyard, his hands resting on the hilt of the Abyssal Sovereign. He wasn't looking at the blockade; he was looking at his disciples.

"They think a blockade can starve the Abyss," Renju said, his voice carrying through the pressurized air. "They don't realize that the Abyss doesn't need the village's light to breathe."

Kakashi sat at Renju's feet, his body vibrating. Since the Kannabi Bridge, his Voltage Gate had been evolving. He was no longer just a conductor; he was becoming a source.

"The village calls this treason," Kakashi said, his voice flat, though his eyes showed the strain of the metabolic output required to maintain the shroud. "The Academy students... they're calling us the 'Traitor House'."

"Let them," Renju replied. "The 'Will of Fire' is a philosophy of sacrifice. It asks you to die so the elders can live in peace. Our philosophy is Utility. We do not sacrifice; we dominate the space we occupy. Today, Kakashi, you will learn why the Voltage Gate is the Warden's Key. You are going to synchronize your frequency with the Shroud. You will become the nervous system of this Estate."

Renju placed a hand on Kakashi's head. The indigo light flared. Kakashi's vision shifted. He no longer saw the walls of the estate; he saw the electrical signatures of every man, woman, and bird within a mile. He could feel the heartbeats of the Uchiha officers at the gate. He was the barrier.

While the Leaf was busy eating itself from the inside, the Hidden Stone saw an opportunity. They didn't want the blockade to end; they wanted to use the chaos to eliminate the Twin Calamities.

They deployed the God-Killer Squad—a trio of experimental shinobi who had been "modified" with Tsuchikage-level Earth Kinjutsu. They arrived at the northern perimeter, bypassing the Leaf's blockade by moving through the bedrock, four hundred feet below the surface.

They emerged within the Hatake Shroud, thinking they had bypassed the defenses.

"Target sighted," the lead God-Killer whispered, his skin the color of obsidian. "The Warden is—"

He stopped. He couldn't move his tongue. The Abyssal Pressure inside the Shroud was five times higher than at the gate. The Stone shinobi, accustomed to the heavy weight of their own Earth-style, found themselves pinned by the very air they breathed.

"You shouldn't have come through the floor," a childish voice whispered from the mist.

Shisui (5) appeared, or rather, the mist seemed to coalesce into his form. He wasn't using the Body Flicker. He was moving through the Vacuum Paths Kakashi was creating within the Shroud. To the Stone shinobi, Shisui was everywhere and nowhere.

"Sub-Abyssal Style: Neural Sever."

Shisui didn't use a blade. He used a high-frequency vibration delivered through his fingertips. He flickered past the three God-Killers, touching the base of their skulls.

In the span of two seconds, the Stone's elite squad fell to their knees. Their brains were still sending signals to their muscles, but the signals were being "grounded" by the Shroud before they could reach their limbs. They were prisoners in their own bodies.

Saya (14) stepped out of the training hall, her dual blades glowing with a soft, violet light. "Master, the intruders are contained. Shall we return them to the Leaf blockade as a 'gift'?"

"No," Renza said, appearing on the roof with a sharp, predatory grin. "We don't give gifts to jailers. We'll use them as the first test subjects for the Gravitational Forge. If the Stone wants to send us 'God-Killers,' we'll show them how we remake gods."

Outside the gates, Minato felt the shift in the air. He saw the indigo mist pulse with a violent, rhythmic light. He heard the muffled sounds of the God-Killers' struggle, then... silence.

He looked at Obito, who was staring at the mist with a mixture of terror and longing. Minato realized then that the blockade was a failure. You cannot blockade a storm. You can only wait for it to break.

"Lord Hokage is going to order a full assault by dawn," Minato whispered to himself. "And if he does... the Leaf will never be the same."

Inside the Estate, Renju looked up at the sky. The declaration of independence was signed not in ink, but in the absolute suppression of those who dared to cross the threshold. The Sovereign Estate was no longer a part of the Hidden Leaf. It was the Abyss, and it was beginning to expand.
