Chapter 1 - The Dragon King?

"Leo! Get here now. We need to go through your training or you'll never be able to become a dragon king like your father." Fivel says to Leo in a commanding but loving motherly voice through their lavish mud and thatch house.

"What's so good about being the dragon king, mum?" Leo asks a little grumpy.

"Being the dragon king is the title we give our strongest warrior it means you have the strength to best many dragons continuously and at one, it's a great honour in our tribe Leo. Your dad at the moment is off in the mountains fighting the swarms of dragons protecting us from their attacks. Our ancestors gave us dragon like bodies to protect ourselves from the dragons but we need to stay strong." Fivel explains in detail to Leo through a picture book, the 5 year old Leo now happy and giggling trying to climb off mum to practice.

This was just one of the many daily things Fivel had to deal with raising young Leo but now he has turned 16 and is allowed to start at the Academy for military.

Fivel runs over to Leo who's at the front door, in tears "don't go son! I can't stay home alone all my days I can't go back!"

Leo picks up his mum and kisses her on the cheek, "mum for us to be strong we need you to be strong too. I'm just in training so I'll be back at least once a month to visit."

They say their goodbyes both wiping up their tears as Leo heads off to the academy.

Leo arrives in the early afternoon where he is greeted by a guide.

"So you must be Leo then?" Bernard an old butler says.

"Yes I am but how did you know?" Leo responds with a nervous chuckle.

"You look exactly like your father, the orange and red hues on your scales and your eye colour are exactly the same. It was easy to pick you out." Bernard explains. "Oh wait, I need to show you around the academy. Please follow me."

"Yes Sir!" Leo says following close behind Bernard.

Leo was shown to all of the areas of the academy and to his bedroom which was about the same size as home but he needed to share a bathroom.

"Oh and Leo be careful the first two weeks being in the academy is hard but also not a guarantee, if you fail a single test your out. Although make it far enough and they will offer you a knight role but that's about it." Bernard warns Leo before leaving him in his new bedroom.

Leo sits on the comfy bed thinking.

"Am I strong enough for this, everyone thinks I'm strong because of my dad but really he never once trained me nor did I ever see him except for when he gave me my invitation to the academy." Leo slams his palm into the wall. The wall shimmers with magic protecting it.

"I'm not that strong I never could beat my own mother at all." Leo grips the wall and his claws quickly penetrated the magic crumbled a small hole in the wall.

Leo quickly sees the hole in the wall "fuck!!! What do I do?? How did this happen!??" Leo yells as be runs out the room finding one of the instructors.

"Umm excuse me miss? I uh have a hole in my bedroom and need it fixed…" Leo nervously asks the lady infront of her in a very formal outfit.

She turns around "what! The walls are protected with a level 3 enchantment, only a stage 3 warrior or mage can break through these walls and there are only two in the whole tribe." She explains walking away from Leo:

"Miss I just arrived here and I rested against the wall and accidentally put a hole in the wall, I don't know what to tell you but your wall is faulty." Leo yells out wanting to not get into trouble later.

The lady storms over to Leo, "show me then." She then angrily follows behind.

Leo arrives at his room and opens the door "see there is a hole in my wall just above my bed."

The lady walks in sees the hole and her head nearly explodes, she turns to Leo and grabs his wrist before dragging him away. "We will get that fixed but your coming with me. Have you ever had your strength test done?" She asks with more politeness.

"No I haven't mum always said it wasn't a true reflection of strength and to always base strength of merit." Leo explains.

"I see, although a persons total strength can't be reflected in one but it is a true reflection of one's physical strength and abilities." She explains, guiding Leo into a building with a crystal ball in the middle. "Please touch the ball?" She asks.

Leo places his hand on the crystal ball and a screen fills the room explaining his stats.

Leo

Dragonborn (Legendary Fire dragon lineage)

Health: 100

Strength: 250

Defence: 125

Speed: 85

Mana: 150

Stamina: 500

The lady looks at the stats, "far out… you already classify to be a grade three warrior. With correct training we could easily get you to the end of grade three and maybe push you into the mythical grade four." She explains as she pulls out of a magic storage a book and hands it to Leo, "this should help so I would give it a good read." And she walks away.

Leo looks at the book to find it's a book on the last 2000 years of dragon kings, they have had four in that time including Leo's father.
