Chapter 163 - politics 7

The emergency session of the West Alliance council was already in chaos when Alexander entered the chamber. Most of the remaining members were on their feet. Several high-level guards all of them in the level 50 range stood along the walls with weapons ready. Olivia followed Alexander inside. Vanya and Tianya remained just outside the main doors.

One of the senior councilors pointed at Alexander the moment he appeared. "You have no authority to dissolve this body. The election result does not give you the right to erase the Alliance structure."

Alexander walked to the center of the floor. "The people already erased it. You just refuse to accept the numbers."

Another councilor slammed his hand on the table. "We still control the administrative codes and the regional garrisons. You cannot simply walk in and take everything."

Alexander's voice stayed level. "I can. And I will. Effective immediately, the West Alliance council is dissolved. Every department under your control will be absorbed into the new administration. Those who cooperate will be reassigned. Those who resist will be removed."

The lead guard stepped forward. "Guild Master Vane, we are ordered to protect this council. Leave the chamber."

Alexander looked at him. "You are level fifty-two. I know your record. Step aside."

The guard did not move. "I cannot do that."

The other guards shifted into position. Flux began to gather around their weapons. The council members stayed behind them, clearly expecting the protection to hold.

Alexander exhaled once. "Last chance."

No one stood down.

The first guard moved. Alexander met him directly. The exchange was short and brutal. Alexander's fist, reinforced with concentrated inner flux, broke through the man's defense and sent him crashing into the far wall. The remaining guards attacked together. Alexander did not retreat. He moved through them with controlled, overwhelming force precise strikes to joints, throat, and core. Each collision ended with a guard on the ground. Armor cracked. Weapons flew across the chamber. In less than a minute, every level-50 guard was down, either unconscious or unable to stand.

The chamber fell silent except for the sound of heavy breathing from the defeated men.

Alexander turned back to the councilors. Blood marked the edge of his sleeve, but his stance remained steady. "The council is finished. You no longer hold authority here."

One of the older members stared at the fallen guards, face pale. "This is… this is a coup."

"No," Alexander answered. "This is the result of the vote you tried to ignore. The democratic process still left on this continent has spoken. You lost."

Olivia stepped forward and placed a formal document on the table. "All official seals and command codes of the West Alliance are now under the new administration. Any further resistance will be treated as an act against the elected leadership."

A few councilors tried to speak. Others simply sat down. The will to continue the fight had left the room along with the strength of their guards.

Alexander looked across the table one last time. "You may leave. Or you may stay and face formal review. The choice is yours, but the council itself no longer exists."

No one challenged him again.

Outside the chamber, Vanya watched the doors. "It's done?"

Alexander stepped out, flexing his hand once. "It's done. The West Alliance council is dissolved."

Tianya's gaze moved over him briefly. "They will not be the last to resist. Power does not change hands cleanly."

Alexander nodded. "I know. But the first wall is down."

Behind them, officials from East Horizon already began entering the chamber to secure documents and systems. The old structure of the West Alliance had finally collapsed.

The grand press hall of the former West Alliance headquarters was filled beyond capacity. Cameras from every remaining network covered the stage. Officials, officers, and representatives from across the western territories stood in ordered rows. Outside, large screens broadcast the event to the major cities.

Alexander Vane stepped up to the central podium. Olivia stood to his right. Vanya remained slightly behind. Tianya sat in a formal seat at the side of the stage, calm and silent.

Alexander looked out over the hall and began.

"Citizens of the remaining territories of Vaelion. The election is complete. The old West Alliance council has been dissolved. As of this moment, I formally accept the position of leader of the unified western government. The authority of what remains of human administration on this planet now rests under this office."

A wave of controlled applause moved through the hall. Alexander continued without pause.

"I will not pretend the road here was clean. We fought in the East. We buried too many. We watched the previous leadership argue over resources while people died. That era is finished. From today, the government will operate with one clear purpose — survival, recovery, and equal status for every person who still lives under our protection. Eastern or western. No more second-class citizens."

He let the words settle before speaking again.

"There is one more matter that must be made clear in front of everyone."

Alexander turned slightly toward Tianya.

"Tianya has stood with East Horizon through the final stages of this struggle. Her power is not a rumor. It is not an illusion. What the people felt in the plaza and in the sky was real. She is a goddess an existence far beyond the limits of ordinary hunters and warriors. Her strength exceeds level one hundred. The flux she carries is not something this world has seen in ordinary times."

He faced the cameras again.

"In recognition of that truth, and in the interest of the stability of these territories, I formally declare Tianya as Western Empress. This title stands above every administrative rank, including my own. Her authority in matters of protection, judgment, and the highest security of the western continent will not be challenged by any office. The government will answer to the structure we build, but the Western Empress holds power beyond all of us."

Silence held the hall for several seconds. Then the weight of the statement settled over the room. Several officials lowered their heads slightly. Others simply stared.

Tianya rose from her seat and walked to the center of the stage. She did not raise her voice.

"I accept the title. I did not come to this world to rule through fear. But I will not allow the remaining people of Vaelion to be destroyed by weakness or by the same mistakes that nearly ended them. Those who work for recovery will have my support. Those who threaten it will face me directly."

Alexander nodded once. "The structure is set. I will handle the daily administration of the government as President. The Western Empress holds final authority where the survival of these lands is concerned. This is the new order."

Olivia stepped forward and addressed the press directly. "All formal documents will be issued within the day. Regional governors will report to the new administration immediately. Any remaining resistance to the transfer of power will be treated as a direct challenge to both the elected leadership and the Western Empress."

Questions erupted from the press section. Alexander raised a hand.

"There will be time for detailed questions later. Today the declaration is enough. The old council is gone. The election result stands. The Western Empress has been recognized. We begin the work of holding what is left of this planet together."

He stepped back from the podium. Tianya remained standing for a moment longer, her presence alone enough to keep the hall quiet, before she turned and left the stage with measured steps.

Outside, the broadcasts reached every major city. The title "Western Empress" spread across the networks within minutes. For the first time since the Purge began, the remaining human territories of Vaelion had a single clear structure of power and at the highest point of that structure stood a goddess.
