Furan raised an eyebrow; she hadn't expected to gain information about a class just by looking at magical beast info.
As expected, there were more opportunities outside. Back in Apprentice City, she had scoured every book until they were worn out without finding info on other classes.
However, this class seemed different from her previous ones.
Her previous classes required possessing a certain skill or reaching a specific proficiency level in a skill.
This Demon Hunter class, however, required the completion of a specific task without demanding any related techniques.
In theory, if someone knew no Combat Skills or Spells at all, they could still seemingly attain this class.
The requirements even included registering with the Adventurers Guild—a baffling condition that left one scratching their head. What did that have to do with being a Demon Hunter?
This made Furan somewhat doubt whether this class could even be considered a one-star class.
But having one was better than none. To Furan, these conditions weren't difficult to fulfill; they would just take a bit of time.
"Your Excellency the Mage, this is a Land Dragon our association first sighted two years ago. Because of its great strength, no subjugation squad has succeeded. If you need its materials, you can increase the bounty, and we can arrange for multiple squads to conduct a joint hunt..."
The new staff member thought Furan was interested in the Land Dragon's materials, so she introduced the association's commission services.
If Furan were willing to add more funds, she would receive a small commission.
However, Furan's next words left her stunned.
"No, I want to register as an Adventurer. Please arrange that for me. I want information on this Land Dragon and these other magical beasts..."
After hearing Furan's request in detail, the staff member's expression was quite a sight, but she maintained her Professional conduct and helped Furan with the registration procedures.
Normally, registering as an Adventurer required a joint recommendation from veteran Adventurers; one couldn't enter this high-end and 'lucrative' industry alone.
But an official rank was different; at the very least, it was a higher level than a group of apprentices.
Furthermore, ninety-five percent of the Adventurers Guild's work involved Rank 1 and lower magical beasts.
Higher-rank missions were actually quite rare. Once at Rank 2 or 3, even squads with Rank 2 or 3 Professionals would not lightly attempt to subjugate such high-rank magical beasts.
This was because it was too easy for combat to cause casualties. Those magical beasts all had wide-area attack capabilities that low-rank Professionals could hardly survive.
Those high-rank squads generally aimed for rare Rank 1 magical beasts, specializing in trading those rare materials for rewards.
This was safer and the rewards weren't low, so why bother challenging those powerful magical beasts?
In fact, many mages had registered as Adventurers before, but almost all of them quickly abandoned the profession.
Because the gains from hunting magical beasts might be useful to lords and warriors, but they held very little utility for mages.
The greatest influence on a mage's combat power was their Spells, and hunting magical beasts almost never had any direct positive effect on Spells—even if it did, it was indirect.
"Your Excellency the Mage, if you require information on these magical beasts, you will need to pay an information fee."
This was also a specific fee item of the Adventurers Guild: if you wanted info on a certain magical beast, you had to pay.
Once the fee was paid, the association would temporarily take down the listing for that magical beast to prevent target conflicts with other squads.
Furthermore, the association would provide sighting reports, the current approximate location, and past subjugation records of similar magical beasts. These were all services corresponding to the information fee.
Without even looking up, Furan placed several gold coins on the table.
The staff member didn't take them immediately but confirmed once more.
"Your Excellency the Mage, are you sure you want to take on this Land Dragon mission? If you don't have a squad, it might be very difficult to succeed..."
The staff member looked troubled. Logically, a Rank 1 Professional taking on a Rank 1 magical beast subjugation seemed fine on paper.
It wasn't a matter of combat power, but rather a matter of experience. Subjugating a magical beast required a lot of preparation.
For example, luring the target into a trap, cutting off its escape route... Often, it wasn't about whether you could beat the opponent in a fight, but whether you could successfully subjugate them. After all, targets would flee at any moment; as soon as they saw they couldn't win, they'd just run.
Even this Land Dragon subjugation mission had failed twice because the target broke through the blocking obstacles.

Seeing Furan like this, the staff member couldn't say much more. She finished the procedures for Furan, returned the change, and then continued:
"Your Excellency the Mage, please note that the association will take down the magical beasts for which the information fee has been paid for one month. If you wish to extend this period, please bring this voucher to the association within the last seven days..."

The Receptionist who had just run off returned out of breath, her face flushed red as she ran up to Furan and handed her several sheets of paper that were slightly wrinkled from the intense movement.
Furan gave them a brief glance and said,
"Then I'll be going now."
"Take care!" the Receptionist greeted her enthusiastically. After all, she had earned a full eighty silver coins today, with another twenty silver coins shared with her colleagues.

Half an hour after Furan left, a travel-worn squad arrived at the Adventurers Guild.
As soon as they entered, the squad leader, Oliver, shouted in a loud voice:
"Hey, miss! I'm going to challenge the Land Dragon again this time. Hurry up and give me the information."
The Receptionist was very familiar with this squad. They had two Rank 1 Professionals and more than six Rank 1 magical beast subjugation records; they were a powerful team.
They had taken on the Land Dragon subjugation mission once before, but that time they had chased the Land Dragon through the mountains for over a month without catching it, resulting in failure.
This time, they must have come prepared.
"Uh... Sorry, Oliver, that mission was taken by someone else not long ago, so I can't give you the information."
