The giant pillar of golden light faded.
For the first time since emerging from the river, the SSS-Rank chimaera seemed to hesitate. But only for a moment, as it regarded the three pesky flies floating before it.
Smoke and sulphur rolled out of its dragon head's mouth. Its other heads screeched, and the dozens of giant tentacles from its waist down began to slip onto land.
"Leave now." Apollo stretched out his bow, barely sparing Devon and the others a glance. Several arrows made from blinding golden light appeared between his fingers.
The beast roared.
Its four wings—one pair membranous, the other insectoid—sprang out of its back with a terrifying crack. It rose into the skies, spreading a shadow that blotted whatever light managed to slip from the sun.
As an unnatural night descended upon the land, stretching for tens of kilometres—Devon barked.
"Let's move!"
