POV: Ava
They dealt with Mark the way Leo dealt with everything.
Fast. Quiet. No mess.
Price and two other men Ava hadn't seen before moved Mark and his people back into the night within twelve minutes. She didn't see exactly how. Leo had put her in the back room before it started, closed the door, and she had sat on the edge of the cot with her hands in her lap and listened to the muffled sounds of men doing things she didn't want to visualize.
No gunshots. That was what she focused on. No gunshots.
When Leo came back to get her, his knuckles were split on his right hand.
She looked at them. She didn't say anything. He didn't offer an explanation.
That was how the rest of the night went.
