Chapter 113 - Annihilation

Translator: AnubisTL

The thunderous roar of the collapsing mountains still seemed to reverberate in Jieming's ears.

High above the battlefield, he watched the fleeing streaks of crimson light. Taking a deep breath, he unhesitatingly drew another vial of luminous magic potion and drained it in one gulp.

Instantly, a surge of icy energy flooded his mental sea, dispelling all fatigue and depletion. His dwindling mental power surged back to its peak.

The blood angel now looked far more battered than at the start of the battle.

His crimson armor was scorched and shattered in multiple places by energy bullets. Though divine power rapidly healed the damage, the constant drain on his reserves and the accumulating injuries darkened his expression to the color of stagnant water.

He swung his longsword with furious abandon, each strike leaving bloody trails that tore through the air as he desperately tried to break through Jieming's overwhelming barrage of energy bullets.

On the far side of a distant mountain peak, a group of figures cautiously concealed themselves behind jagged rocks, using magic and telescopes to observe the apocalyptic battlefield.

They were two elegantly dressed indigenous mages radiating raw magical energy, four or five warriors clad in finely crafted armor, and a dozen second-tier powerhouses from various intelligent races—orcs, dwarves, elves, and others.

They were a reconnaissance team dispatched by the Elosian Allied Forces, tasked with investigating the unusual activity in this region.

"By the heavens... what kind of power is that?!" a High Elf Archmage exclaimed, his voice trembling with disbelief. "They've been fighting at full intensity for nearly three sun-cycles, yet the wizard's offensive shows no sign of weakening!"

"This is beyond our intervention," a dwarf warrior muttered, gripping his battleaxe tightly. His usually fearless face was now etched with grim terror.

Moments earlier, a group of second-tier powerhouses, defying caution, had attempted to approach and observe the battle. The wizard casually unleashed a wave of light that engulfed them, reducing them to nothingness before they could even scream.

In the Elosia Plane, wizards referred to second-tier beings as "legendary." Each one was a figure who had accomplished countless miracles, standing at the pinnacle of the mortal world.

Yet just now, they had witnessed legendary powerhouses—some driven by curiosity, others by a desire to assist—charge into the fray, only to be utterly overwhelmed by the relentless, all-encompassing barrage of energy bullets. They had no chance to resist.

Their vaunted martial qi, magical shields, and even life-saving divine arts were instantly pierced through by the impenetrable torrent of light, crumbling like paper.

The legendary powerhouses, along with their mounts and attendants, were annihilated in the dazzling radiance, reduced to ashes.

Many onlookers had grown up hearing tales of these very warriors. Yet before their eyes, these once-renowned figures had their lives extinguished with such ease.

This power far surpassed their comprehension.

Realizing the vast gulf in strength between themselves and the combatants, the onlookers dared not approach any closer, resorting to observing from afar with magic. They meticulously recorded every detail they witnessed and heard, preparing to transmit the information back to their respective leaders.

The battle remained locked in a protracted stalemate.

Jieming knew his time was running out.

Of the three metallic discs behind him, only the last one still glowed faintly, its energy reserves depleted by half.

After what seemed like an eternity, the blood angel's movements suddenly grew sluggish. Its once-swift figure now traced an uneven path through the air, each wingbeat carrying a hint of strain.

A glint flashed in Jieming's eyes. He knew the moment had come!

Angels' physical structures aren't naturally suited for flight; they rely primarily on magical enhancements.

This meant the blood angel's energy was nearing depletion!

Jieming intensified his assault, unleashing a barrage of energy bullets that surged toward the blood angel like a flood bursting through a dam.

The blood angel grew increasingly frantic. He could feel his divine power draining rapidly, like a punctured balloon, with no way to replenish it effectively.

Under normal circumstances, his divine power wouldn't deplete so quickly. Even if it did, he could continuously absorb mana from the surrounding atmosphere to rapidly recover.

However, Jieming's energy bullets, released from his rune-imbued magical artifact, while primarily drawing power from the metal disc's stored energy, also continuously siphoned elemental power from the environment during their release.

As a result, the elemental "concentration" in their battle area remained critically low, preventing the blood angel from replenishing his energy.

It was like cutting off the fuel supply to a fire!

The blood angel gritted his teeth. The rapidly deteriorating situation forced him to abandon his pride and even relinquish his aerial advantage, plummeting to the ground to conserve divine power and sustain the fight.

This tactic proved effective.

Though the blood angel's ground speed couldn't match its aerial agility, it exploited the terrain to its advantage, darting through the ruins and evading Jieming's relentless attacks.

This only fueled Jieming's frustration.

The blood angel's evasiveness prevented him from finding a suitable opportunity to deploy his Fourth-Tier Offensive Magical Artifact.

Despite using his Acceleration Rune Artifact to barely keep pace with the creature's speed, he lacked the rune artifact's precise control over the fourth-tier artifact. This made it impossible to lock onto the target and deliver a decisive blow.

Worse, focusing his mental power on the fourth-tier artifact weakened his control over the rune artifact, potentially allowing the blood angel to exploit the opening and escape his lock.

As his final energy reserves dwindled, Jieming's heart pounded like a war drum.

Just as the stalemate seemed unbreakable...

Rumble... Rumble... Rumble...

A violent tremor shook the sky.

The Elosia Plane's heavens split open once more, torn by an invisible, colossal hand, revealing a deep, dark fissure.

The ethereal figures of the gods materialized again, their divine presence radiating across the horizon as they peered into the planar rift.

It was the day for the second update to the ranking list.

Once again, the wizards from the outside world had forcibly torn through the planar barrier of the Elosia Plane!

Sensing the celestial anomaly and the familiar, overwhelming presence of his divine being, the blood angel's nerves, previously taut with anxiety, involuntarily relaxed for a moment.

He instinctively tilted his head upward, gazing at the sky with a look of hopeful anticipation, as if seeking the attention of his spirit.

Unlike the blood angel, Jieming, though initially startled, quickly regained his composure. He had no time to spare for observing the unfolding celestial events.

The instant the blood angel's focus wavered, Jieming seized the opportunity he had been waiting for.

A massive surge of mental power erupted from Jieming's eyes, his gaze piercing through the blood angel's momentary lapse in concentration.

With lightning reflexes, Jieming abruptly reconfigured the Great Light Phase, instantly transforming its overwhelming barrage of energy bullets into an airtight encirclement.

The countless energy projectiles no longer merely bombarded the blood angel; instead, they coalesced into impenetrable walls of energy, forming a cage that completely sealed off all his escape routes.

The blood angel snapped back to his senses, but his handsome face was now etched with terror.

He desperately tried to break through the encirclement, but Jieming, willing to sacrifice even the remaining rune-imbued magical artifact array on his back, relentlessly maintained his iron grip on the blood angel.

"Die!" Jieming roared, his right hand shooting forward.

His killing move, naturally, was the Fourth-Tier Offensive Magical Artifact he had long prepared.

Light converged at the artifact's tip, coalescing into a blinding crimson ray. Carrying an aura of unparalleled destruction, it aimed directly at the blood angel's head, now filled with terror and despair.

The blood angel knew there was no escape from this strike.

With a desperate roar, he mustered every last ounce of his remaining strength. Crimson divine power surged around him, attempting to conjure the most impenetrable shield before him to meet the fatal ray.

But the outcome was never in doubt.

Zzzzt...

The crimson Energy Convergence Ray pierced through the blood angel's divine power shield as easily as a hot knife through butter, encountering no resistance whatsoever.

In the next instant, the ray unerringly struck the blood angel's head.

There was no explosion, no splatter of blood or flesh.

The blood angel's once handsome and majestic head vanished into nothingness the moment the ray touched it, dissolving silently into oblivion.

His body, now headless, instantly disintegrated, gradually transforming into countless crimson motes of light that scattered across the sky above the mine, leaving behind only a lingering residue of divine power.

Witnessing this, Jieming, who had been hovering in mid-air, finally couldn't help but exhale in relief.

The battle had finally ended!

As the light from the energy bullets faded and the shockwaves subsided, the desolate scene of devastation was revealed to all observers.

The once towering mountain range had been completely obliterated.

In its place lay a colossal canyon, its edges scorched black, with molten lava still churning at its deepest point.

The once lush forest had been razed to the ground, leaving behind a charred wasteland devoid of any signs of life, save for billowing smoke and the acrid stench of burning.

Sensing that the earth-shattering battle had finally concluded, Amy and Victor cautiously dug their way back to the surface through a newly excavated tunnel.

When they emerged and witnessed the apocalyptic scene before them, they froze in their tracks, their pupils contracting violently as they stared in stunned disbelief.

"This... this was Jieming... he did this?" Victor's voice was hoarse, trembling with disbelief.

Amy stood equally dumbfounded, her eyes wide with shock.

The power Jieming had displayed far surpassed their understanding of what a first-tier wizard was capable of!

Just as they were reeling from the revelation, a torrent of information flooded their minds once more—the latest contribution points leaderboard from the Noren Workshop.

They eagerly checked their rankings.
