Chapter 41 - Virgin't

Elanore woke up to a pretty sleeping face. Her eyes took in the sunlit wyvern, and she felt a familiar tail wrapping around her waist. The vampire noticed her own nude state, and the events from the night before came flooding back to her. Heat rushed to her face, and her ears turned bright red. We actually did it...

The vampire remembered all of the stairs on her climb to adulthood. She recalled the sounds of her own voice late into the night, and now she wanted to hide. But there was no escape. At the same time, her pounding heart enjoyed the sight in front of her.

Naela's pink eyes blinked open slowly. She took her first waking breaths of the early morning and smiled. A redness coated her cheeks, but she appeared incredibly happy. "Good morning, mistress."

Elanore was unable to contain her own grin. She ended up reaching for the wyvern's chin and scratching it. "Good morning, Naela."

The wyvern wrapped her arms around her mistress, pulling the two of them closer together. "I am so happy, mistress."

Ella nodded and hugged the wyvern. The warmth of their two bare bodies pressing together was enough for the vampire to forget about last night's dream. She enjoyed the wyvern's company and ran her fingers through Naela's long pink hair.

"As much as I want to stay wrapped up in your arms all day, we should probably get out of bed."

A groan of protest came from Naela's mouth, but she didn't argue with Ella. She reluctantly pulled away, sitting up, and stretching her arms. The wyvern stood from the bed and reached for her dirtied maid clothes on the floor.

Ella found it hard not to stare at the other girl's body, even thought she'd seen it many times before. After their nightly session, the vampire was keenly aware of every part of Naela's body. They thoroughly explored each other to the fullest extent possible for first timers. The vampire briefly wondered if she did alright, but the happy wyvern was enough for her to force down any self-conscious thoughts.

She reached for her own robes inside of her inventory and threw them on. Once she was fully dressed, she cast her cleansing spell on the wyvern. The vampire looked at the bed with the unkempt blankets and the lingering smell from last night. I definitely should cleanse those bed sheets as well!

The vampire cast her spell over the bed before making it. She returned it to how it was when they first arrived in the inn. She was briefly reminded of things that hotel workers in her past life dealt with, but she shook her head. Better to leave those thoughts where they belong!

"What are your plans today, mistress?"

Elanore considered it, but she had no clue. There was no impending doom or world boss to fight, and she tackled the quest to become an official adult the night before. Though, the dream version of her mother still treated her like that same child she'd always been.

The vampire summoned Manapie and Pot at the same time.

"Good morning, your majesty." Pot flapped his bat wings in the air and bowed. "Are we furthering the energy drink empire today?"

There it was—the answer to all of life's questions. It was the main quest, hovering there with a permanent marker. It was the one that she couldn't get rid of. In an endeavor to beat the game, she'd gotten lost in side missions. Though, there was no regret hidden behind Elanore's eyes.

She chuckled and held Manapie in front of her. "You aren't wrong, for everyday is the furthering of my energy drink empire. We are but few in number now, but soon our addicts...I mean citizens, will be far and wide."

It was in this quest for more recruits to her cult that Elanore found herself walking down a busy street in the human capital. The well-maintained road was a sign of a thriving fantasy industry.

The vampire held Naela's hand, despite bad looks from strangers. The mean-muggers were no problem for Elanore, and she wasn't after the affections of people anyway. There was only one reason to walk down a shop-filled avenue. She wanted a gauge of the human's goods.

In this busy street, there were food vendors all over. The warm smell of freshly cooked breakfast wafted to Elanore's nose. Even though they did nothing to provoke her appetite, she noticed that it worked for her wyvern.

Naela's eyes darted from one stand to another, and her mouth salivated. The tail behind her waved impatiently. A particular stall caught her attention, and she tugged on Ella's hand, pulling the vampire closer.

Elanore didn't know if the wyvern even realized it herself. Naela's instincts were stronger than human's. If the girl was hungry, she found it harder to control herself. Ella was reminded of when she met Naela, and the girl would go out hunting whenever hunger struck her.

The vampire recalled the appetite Naela had for Elanore's body, and heat rushed to her ears. She shook off those thoughts by the time she arrived at the stand.

A small line of customers stood ahead of the duo. To Elanore's surprise, the vendor was a man with cat ears. She found it hard to believe that beastmen even found business in the wealthier district of the city. She noticed that the further into the place she went, the thinner the diversity was. In this place, humans made up the majority, and that fact was reflected in the line of people waiting for the cat man's food.

As for what the guy was serving, it was something only vaguely familiar to Ella. It was a blue grain that looked like rice, but the smell was a bit sweeter. It was something cooked inside of wooden pots, and the insides contained a gooey substance. If Elanore was honest, it didn't look appetizing at all. She had no idea why her wyvern was salivating over it.

[Rare: Blue Puff Pastry - A breakfast item made from the blue grain found within the borders a neighboring beastman kingdom.]

Ooh, it's like an import? I wonder how far away that kingdom is from here?

The two arrived at the front of the line, and the man behind the stall grinned at them. He held up two fingers. "Two silver coins for each one."

Though it was on the steeper end of pricing, Elanore imagined that all of the people living in this district could easily afford it. This sly merchant is selling exotic goods in a wealthy place.

She wondered if there was some kind of conversion rate between the two kingdoms. Elanore imagined that there was a chance the cat kingdom had a weaker currency. If that was the case, then all of the revenue the beastmen made here would be worth even more if they took it home.

"Mistress?" Naela asked impatiently, tugging on the sleeve of Elanore's robes like a cat herself.

So cute... Elanore smiled and almost reached up to pat the wyvern, until she remembered the surrounding eyes and the fact she was holding up the line. "You can get as many as you want."

"No," the man behind the stall said, "there is a limit of three per customer."

"In that case," Elanore said, "we will take three."

She handed him six of her silver coins, and he handed her the strange blue balls wrapped in paper.

"Thank you for your business."

Elanore nodded and left with her wyvern towards a nearby bench. The two of them sat down with a good view of the plaza. The vampire was glad that people passing by didn't say anything. Elanore handed one of the warm rice balls to Naela.

The wyvern immediately started to scarf it down as if she'd not eaten in days. With each bite, she got blue gooey filling on her cheek.

"Slow down. Those things can't possibly be that good."

Elanore held one up in the warm sunlight, but no matter how she looked at it, it didn't look appetizing at all. Why is it so blue?

Naela snatched the thing from Ella's hands. "Mistress, you have to try one of these. The inside of it is so creamy and sweet. It's like I am..."

Elanore's face reddened, and she put her hand up to stop the wyvern. "Don't finish that sentence, please."

Naela tilted her head. "I was just going to say it's like I am eating a dessert for breakfast." A sly smile appeared on the wyvern's face. "What did you think I was going to say, mistress?"

Elanore crossed her arms and turned away from her lover. "Just be quiet and eat your dessert."

"No seriously, mistress. You need to try this!"

The wyvern had already swallowed two of them, and she was working on the third. Though, this one she was taking much slower, savoring the flavor with every bite.

"Fine." Elanore snatched the thing and took a bite where the wyvern's mouth had already been.

The flavor that arrived was very unexpected. Both the texture and the taste was something Elanore had familiarity with. Whipped cream?

All in all, it tasted like a cream cake. The blue rice served as a breading for the inside. However, even if she could admit that the flavor was good, it gave her no sense of satisfaction. Once again, she suffered the contradiction of tasting something good while not enjoying it in the same way Naela did.

"It's good, but it's also like I can't really taste it. Here."

The wyvern took it and devoured the remains.

I might not be able to taste that one properly, but I wonder if I can replicate that flavor with some kind of mana orb? She never even considered breakfast pastries as part of her menu items before, but now, there was a world of possibilities.
