The Lost Vampire System Chapter 58 - The Bully Group
While Damion, Mia, Keira, and Henry were looking at the marketplace, Jareth pretty much just slipped the food that was on his plate onto Madison's, which she ate like nothing happened. Emma noticed this, but she didn't pay much attention to it.
In Jareth's right ear, there was a little buzz, and Arden's voice was heard.
"Hello, Jareth," Arden said in his ear. "For this message only, it will automatically play; otherwise, tap the inside of your ear twice. I forgot to tell you this, but if you want to send me a message, just tap the inside of your ear three times and it will send the last thirty seconds of audio to me, so just have what you want to say within that time period. Anyways, you probably want to know which Becifer planet we will be going to. Unfortunately, they're somehow keeping it very tight. It seems to be word of mouth instead of sending emails; they're just sending higher-ups to tell the staff where they are going."
Jareth frowned at this news, but he continued to listen.
"The only thing I have heard is what types of Becifers are on this planet. The faction with the most types of planets like these is the Astor Faction. Now, every faction has at least a couple of these types of planets, but William Astor has most of these types of planets. Anyways, you know how to contact me. Enjoy your lunch."
Arden's voice went silent as his frown deepened at the news that he heard. The news was a little weird to him.
Word of mouth? Jareth thought in confusion. Why? What's the reason to keep it a secret so much?
"Why are you frowning?" Madison whispered. "Is your…system talking?"
Jareth shook his head as he told Madison, since he trusted her now.
"Arden just told me that the information regarding the planet seems to be traveling by word of mouth and not using any system."
Madison's eyes narrowed, as to her that doesn't make any sense.
"Wait, how did she tell you this?"
Jareth pointed at his right ear before he spoke.
"She placed a small device in my ear," he said as he scratched his other ear. "I don't even feel it."
Madison nodded before asking another question.
"Why would they be doing it by word of mouth?" she asked as she ate a piece of meat before continuing. "It's like they're worried about someone hacking the system."
Jareth raised an eyebrow, as they knew someone who was capable of doing that.
"Right," Madison said as she sighed. "Arden, she has the capability. Though why would it matter if she knew or not?"
"We don't really know what types of deals she made," Jareth admitted. "Maybe they think that her loyalty is wavering a little."
"That means she might be in trouble soon," Madison said.
"I hope she took that into consideration," Jareth said with hope in his voice. "Her skills are useful. Right now, what is most important to me is making sure my sister is ready for this mission."
Jareth turned his head to look at his sister, and Madison did as well, to see Mia looking at the phone that Damion was holding while slowly scrolling. Madison turned to look back at Jareth.
"The people who know about you and us should gather to come up with a plan, just in case things go wrong. Like whether they realize we aren't humans, or something happens that requires us to use our hidden powers."
Jareth nodded his head in agreement as he pondered for a moment on what to do before he replied.
"Let's meet in Arden's room," Jareth said. "She did say it was soundproof when she kidnapped me."
Jareth tapped his right ear three times, and a little buzz was heard.
In Arden's low-lit room, Arden was sitting in her chair with her glowing green eyes, trying to find any information on what the planet was or why it was being spread by word of mouth when a notification popped up. She opened the audio message from Jareth and listened to all thirty seconds of it. The technopath rolled her eyes when she heard what Jareth said about him being kidnapped.
"My bad," she giggled as she recorded a message to send to Jareth.
Back in the dining hall, Jareth had just received a message from Arden, and he hit play.
"Hey, JJ," Arden said as she giggled, which made the edge of his lip slightly twitch. "Sorry for kidnapping you and all. Anyways, I'm in my room if you really need me, but come to my room after the last class and bring everyone that knows about you or this smaller group of yours."
The message ended there, and he looked at Madison.
"We have to tell Damion and Keira to meet in Arden's room after our last class," Jareth told Madison.
She nodded as she ate the last piece of meat on her plate.
Damion was in the marketplace looking at all the Simple Tier weapons, artifacts, armor, and others, as the three kept trying to go to different sections of the marketplace. After awhile and noticing that Jareth and Madison were just talking to each other while Emma was looking at her right automatic crossbow, the three of them decided to get a Simple Tier chest piece that gave a slight boost to defense.
Damion nodded as he placed the order and sent it to the mailroom of the first years. He was tempted to send it to Arden's teleportation mail machine, but they weren't exactly close. So, he just sent each piece individually to the mailroom with their names on their own package.
"I think it's time to go to class," Damion said as he stood up. "Don't want to be late."
Emma scoffed at Damion, who was pretending like he followed all the rules, as she stood up along with the others and was about to leave the dining hall when they were stopped by a group of three.
"Wow, look at that," the only girl who was there said as she stepped forward. "A bunch of low levels who don't need money."
The other two snickered at their leader's response.
The girl in front had jet-black, neck-length hair with bright green eyes and a light amount of black eye shadow. She was wearing the same military uniform as everyone else was wearing.
"Say," she continued. "Why don't you just give us your money and nobody has to get hurt? I need around 70 more dollars, and I can buy myself a new piece of Superior Tier armor. You clearly don't need the money, so you should give it to us."
"Why the f*ck would we do that?" Damion growled as he stepped forward. "Beat it!"
"You kiss your mother with that mouth?" the girl snarled. "We are second-year students. You don't stand a chance against us."
Madison stepped forward as black smoke trailed from her eyes.
"Why don't you try us?" she said in a deep voice as horns protruded from her head. "We outnumber you."
The girl took a tiny step back in surprise but her confidence quickly returned.
"It doesn't matter," the girl said. "A group isn't only as strong as its weakest member; it's only as strong as its strongest member."
With those final words she lifted up her hands and the humans of the group went flying back into the dining hall.
"Mia!" Jareth shouted with worry as he went to her as he along with Madison and Damion weren't blown back.
Madison's body went black and dark smoke engulfed her and when she reemerged, she was in her main form of the demon manifestation form. Madison charged forward toward the girl. The girl lifted up her foot and flung out a kick to the right where there was nobody. Then a small portal opened and another small portal opened in front of Madison's head. It connected to her head and the girl pulled her leg back as the portals closed. The Cambion fell to the floor as her eyes rolled to the back of her head.
Damion and Jareth saw this and their mouths dropped. They weren't expecting their physical fighter to be knocked out that easily. Madison returned to her normal form as the girl looked at her.
"What a pretty face," the girl said as she kicked the unconscious Madison in the nose, breaking it. "Well, not so much now."
"Stop that," Damion said as his arm glowed pink, as he had copied Emma's Evolved power when he entered the dining hall.
The girl looked at Damion and smiled.
"Hey, aren't you a pretty boy?" the girl smiled at Damion. "You wouldn't be bad to look at. My name is Charlotte, and you should come work for me."
Damion's face contorted in anger as he heard this.
"Join your little bully group?" Damion growled as his eyes turned yellow. "I wouldn't join you if my life was on the line."
Charlotte just shrugged like it was no big deal.
"Oh, well," she said. "I wouldn't call my group small anymore, pretty boy. Give it a year and it'll be a decent size faction."
"Why you b*tch," Emma, who was next to Mia, said as she fired a pink energy shot from her automatic crossbow at Charlotte.
Charlotte just smiled as she flicked her hand and a small portal opened in front of her face and a small portal opened right behind Damion. The arrow went through both portals and connected with Damion's back.
"Ow!" He yelled as he fell to the ground trying to reach the arrow on his back.
"Oh my," Charlotte said with a shocked expression like she had never seen something remotely close to this. "That doesn't look like it hurts enough."
A portal appeared and she walked through it as another portal opened above Damion; she dropped down onto the pink energy arrow, but at the last second the back of the arrow changed into a sharp tip that pierced into the bottom of her left boot.
"Agh!" She yelled as she fell over, trying to clutch her foot.
One of her subordinates went over to her while the other one went to where Jareth and the rest of his group were. The subordinate that went to help Charlotte rained his right hand over her foot, and a light glowed from it, and Charlotte's expression relaxed as the bottom of her foot healed. Her subordinate backed away as Charlotte smashed her fist into the spot where the arrow was, as it had now vanished.
"Ow!" Damion yelled in pain, but Charlotte's next punch knocked Damion out.
She placed her Forwatch over Damion's Forwatch and forcefully transferred all of the money that Damion had collected through the military, which was $50. His private assets were not connected to his Forwatch. Charlotte half-smiled, but she still wanted more, as she went over to Madison.
Meanwhile, the other subordinate walked over to where Emma was. Emma shot a few more arrows at the students, but they just bounced off of his skin. Her face paled as the man's lit up. Jareth stood in his way, but he just b*tch slapped Jareth, sending him to the side, landing on his backpack.
Ow, Sophia thought to Jareth.
Jareth quickly rolled over onto his front to relieve pressure from little Sophia.
The student grabbed onto Emma's hair and pulled her up. Emma flailed and was hitting the student, but all he did was laugh.
"Aren't you pretty," the man chuckled as he leaned his head in toward Emma's mouth in a kissing motion, when a ball of dirt, wind, and water hit his face, causing the student to sneeze, dropping Emma to the ground. He wiped the dirt away before looking at the three of them. Jareth, seeing his sister's panicking expression, was about to get up, when a foot slammed onto the sword on his back, which was in between the backpack and his neck.
"Give me your money on your Forwatch and your sword and I won't beat you to a pulp," Charlotte spat at Jareth.
Jareth just looked up at Charlotte's grim expression, which turned into a frown.
"A rebel, are we?" She asked. "Well, I'll show you where the weak belong."
She lifted up her foot, intending to slam it on Jareth's backpack where Sophia was, when a ball of energy slammed into Charlotte's chest, sending her feet into the air before colliding with the ground.
Jareth turned his head to see who it was when he recognized Arden's pretty, cute face, holding onto an energy gun with a white tip at the end of the barrel.
