Chapter 39 - Chapter 39: Konoha Dragon God VS Morning Peacock

Seeing that Duy agreed, Shinichi drew in a sharp breath, his chest expanding like a bellows as an extremely deep and violently explosive power began to brew and awaken within him.

Whoosh!

Centered on him, the fine gravel, dust, and even broken blades of grass on the ground were suddenly swept up by an invisible yet powerful suction force, whirling wildly in midair to form a rapidly expanding vortex!

The air let out a low, mournful wail, as if a slumbering giant beast were struggling to awaken, stirring everything around it.

In the next instant, the chakra around him no longer flowed gently, but erupted like a breached flood!

Blue chakra flames shot skyward, rendering his entire figure like a burning blue torch.

His strength and presence surged in an instant to a brand-new, terrifying level!

His left foot stamped forward violently!

Boom!

The rocky ground exploded into a large crater in response. Borrowing that recoil force, his body began spinning at high speed like a top, driving the vast chakra around him and transforming into a sky-reaching, earth-linking, violently rotating azure hurricane that charged straight toward Duy!

Buzz!

The shrill scream of torn air stabbed at the eardrums. Wherever the hurricane passed, even the invisible wind pressure dissipating at its outer edge was like countless sharp blades, carving crisscrossing trenches into the hard rocky ground along its path; the flying fragments of stone and sand were shredded into even finer pieces before they could scatter!

And in the course of the charge, the azure chakra encircling him did not disperse—on the contrary, it grew ever more boiling, solid, and powerful!

As if alive, it rapidly interwove, coiled, and combined, outlining a heart-palpitating silhouette.

First, fine scale patterns like armor surfaced upon the outer layer of the hurricane, flashing with a metallic chill; Next, two dragon horns—like quenched black iron, their tips bristling with savage barbs—thrust out from the front of the storm's eye;

Finally, a dragon's head silhouette—its contours lined with folds of power, its invisible maw spread wide as if to devour everything, exuding a primal aura of brutality—formed explosively at the very forefront of the azure hurricane!

In that instant, a majestic and ferocious azure giant dragon, condensed from chakra and the surrounding hurricane, descended upon the arena with a force capable of destroying everything!

Konoha Taijutsu Ultimate—Dragon God!

Although Old Master Chen had once said he would only teach it after he became a chūnin, during this month of special training before the finals, perhaps having seen that he possessed the physique and will to control this move, Old Master Chen ultimately granted him this ultimate technique ahead of schedule.

And as Shinichi was an absolute genius, he likewise, without exception, learned this move within the span of that single month!

"Good!!!"

Facing this earthshaking strike, Duy was not alarmed—he was delighted instead, and in his eyes erupted a light even more scorching than the green aura flaring around his body!

He bellowed loudly, driving his own chakra and strength to their utmost limits.

Facing the countless razor-sharp wind blades that swept in first, his fists turned into a blur of afterimages as he threw punches forward at such extreme speed that the naked eye could not possibly track them!

Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang!!!

His punch speed reached the extreme; through violent friction with the air, it actually burst forth into countless clusters of searing flames. These flames were not any kind of Fire Release ninjutsu, but purely the product of speed and power rubbing against the air!

As if alive, they formed a curtain of flame barrage that covered the entire area ahead, precisely meeting every incoming wind blade and detonating an unbroken chain of firebursts and air explosions in midair!

And right within that dazzling backdrop where flames and wind blades intertwined and annihilated each other, that azure giant dragon had already roared as it charged straight up to Duy!

Hah—!!!

Duy faced the dragon's head at point-blank range, pouring all his strength, will, and the entirety of the violent energy gained after opening the Sixth Gate—without holding anything back—into his right fist.

The chakra condensed on his fist interwove with the high-temperature flames, making his fist seem to transform into a small blazing sun.

He twisted his waist, drove his shoulder, and threw the punch!

The motion was as simple as it could be, yet it was as if it carried the belief of his entire life.

Morning Peacock!

Rumble, rumble, rumble!!!

The azure giant dragon and the searing punch edge collided head-on, without the slightest trick!

In that instant, time seemed to freeze for a moment.

Immediately after, an indescribably terrifying energy erupted!

A blinding white light swallowed the center of the arena, and the deafening roar even made the entire stadium tremble!

A violent shockwave mixed with a chaotic torrent of blue, green, and crimson energy expanded outward like a sphere, slamming hard into the barrier wall that had been reinforced in advance and stirring up countless ripples!

The stands fell into dead silence. Everyone unconsciously held their breath and stared wide-eyed, so shaken by this collision—far beyond imagination—that they lost all words.

"Y-you've got to be kidding..... This is taijutsu?"

"Taijutsu… it can actually reach this level?!"

"Th-this is basically two large-scale ninjutsu blasting against each other!"

"T-too terrifying… these two Konoha ninja…"

"Today really… was worth the price of admission…"

No one knew how much time had passed—perhaps only a few seconds, yet it felt as long as a century.

The blinding light and the swirling dust gradually subsided.

At the center of the arena, a massive, charred, sunken crater had appeared.

At the edge of the crater, a figure slowly stood up—it was Shinichi.

He was breathing heavily; sweat mixed with dust marked his temples, and his clothes were torn in many places, clearly showing the extent of his expenditure.

One of his arms was steadily supporting another green figure who was almost completely drained of strength and could stand only because Shinichi was holding him up—Might Duy.

The two of them slowly walked out of the smoke-filled area. Although Duy's entire body was trembling and he was on the verge of collapse, his face bore a hearty, deeply satisfied smile.

He raised his head and, using the last of his strength, flashed a brilliant, white-toothed grin toward the equally disheveled yet sharp-eyed referee and the entire audience. His voice was not loud, yet it carried clearly: "Referee… I concede!"

As his words fell, his body went limp, almost completely leaning against Shinichi.

Shinichi held him steady and glanced around.

After a brief silence, the entire stadium erupted into a roar of astonished cries, praise, and incredulous discussion that surged like crashing waves!

This duel had already been deeply etched into the heart of every witness.

"Your Excellency the Hokage, Konoha truly remains, as always, rich in talent."

On the high platform, the Third Kazekage's expression was calm; little emotion could be heard in his tone, yet his gaze remained fixed on the two being escorted away from the field.

The force of that previous strike had been alarming even through the barrier.

However, seeing that Shinichi was clearly heavily drained and that Might Duy had completely collapsed from exhaustion, the slight ripple in his heart stirred by their strength gradually settled somewhat.

"Not at all, not at all. Your Excellency the Kazekage overpraises us." The Third Hokage smiled gently as he took a puff of smoke, his tone as warm as ever. "Under your leadership, Sunagakure too produces outstanding talents in great numbers and continues to prosper."

However… this child Shinichi… his taijutsu has actually reached this step? He has even mastered the Dragon God of Konoha?

The Third Hokage's thoughts shifted slightly.

Within the arena, the roar of voices still boiled over. Yet as Shinichi supported Duy toward the rest area, the corner of his mouth suddenly curved upward by an extremely subtle degree.
