Chapter 2 - Chapter 2. Betrayal

2

Ah, I should stay quiet for now and give Chandra a taste of his own medicine first. It would look too desperate if I barged in there right now and ruined the event. I think it's only fair to get even a little before I put an end to all of this. Chandra and Raisa both deserve to learn their lesson for playing with fire behind my back.

I stopped recording the video once they went inside. I could already imagine what would happen in that orange house. Enjoy your happiness while it lasts, Chandra. Pretend you've won for now, but don't come crying later when you regret what you've done.

Before I left, I tried calling Chandra. I wanted to see how he would respond when I interrupted his engagement event. I called twice and he ignored me, but he picked up on the third try.

"What is it, honey?" he said to start the conversation.

From where I was parked, I could see Chandra step outside and stand on the porch. So he was worried about getting caught after all.

"Where are you right now?" I asked.

"Umm, I'm at the housing project site we'll be working on soon," he said.

"Oh, I see. So when will you be home?"

"I think I'll be late. The drive from here to our place is still about two hours," he said, sounding nervous.

I could see him pacing back and forth, hands on his hips.

"I see. Oh, by the way, where exactly is this project located? I forgot," I lied.

"In Malang. I told you this morning, remember? I have to go now. We're in a meeting, and it's rude to keep everyone waiting," he said.

"Alright, alright. If you're coming from Malang, you have to bring me two servings each of Pia Mangkok and Malang Strudel. Don't you dare forget. I've been craving them so much," I said, laughing.

"Ugh, you always spring things on me like this. Why didn't you say something earlier if you wanted them? It's already getting dark!"

"I just started craving them now. Besides, I forgot you were in Malang today. Dark? It's only seven thirty. You have to bring them! Or I'll be upset with you!"

"Using your go-to move already, fine, I'll get them for you. But remember, I'll be home late. Don't wait up for me – just go to bed."

"Good. I love you even more now. It's cold in Malang, so don't do anything stupid, okay?"

"I would never do anything like that. Having you is already a blessing to me. Don't think such things, it's bad luck. Alright, they're waiting for me here."

Hmm, such sweet words from you, Chandra. You've been playing with fire behind my back, yet you still pretend to be so pious and faithful. You definitely need to be taught a lesson.

"You act like you're talking to your mistress instead of your wife, so scared of getting caught! Anyway, make sure you bring both things I asked for tonight, and don't forget the receipts. I want to know you really bought them in Malang. No exceptions! Drive safe on your way back. Wassalamualaikum," I said with a smirk.

"Ugh, what's gotten into you, you're being so strange. Fine, I'll get them. Assalamualaikum," he said, rubbing his forehead.

After we hung up, I watched Chandra stay on the porch and make another call. I wondered who he was talking to. When he finished, he went back inside with a smile on his face. Then I decided to head home.

He must have been thrown off by my request for Malang specialties. After all, it's about a two hour drive from here to Malang. I wondered what he would do to fulfill my demand.

Chandra knows how stubborn I am, if I want something, I have to get it. For three years of marriage, he's always acted like a loving, faithful husband. Sometimes he even let me have my way, making me feel like the one in charge of our household. But it turns out he's a wolf in sheep's clothing, though he should know better than to try and fool me, because I'm the queen of wolves and not so easily tricked.

I found myself wondering what drove him to cheat on me. Was it because I was too controlling? Because I didn't take care of myself? Because I haven't been able to give him children? Or were there other reasons I didn't know about?

But he was so careless to cheat on me like this. What more could he want? My father and I gave him status, wealth and respect. If it weren't for us, he'd still be a low-level employee today. The only reason father felt indebted to him was because Chandra once saved him from being hit by a car, and that's why he arranged our marriage.
