On the beautiful Earth, the Iron Man incident could be considered perfectly resolved. Artoria operated behind the scenes to cover up many details; she believed S.H.I.E.L.D. would never find out who moved all of Hammer Industries' assets. However, in distant Asgard, the All-Father Odin was not in a good mood. He widened his remaining eye, so choked with anger he could hardly speak.
"Thor, you..."
He originally thought that no matter how reckless Thor was, he wouldn't disregard the peace treaty signed with the Frost Giants years ago to provoke a war. He didn't expect Thor to actually do it, even clamoring to exterminate the Frost Giant race. To be honest, he was disappointed and guilty; he hadn't properly taught his eldest son. Meanwhile, he glanced at his second son, Loki, who was acting as if none of this concerned him. He didn't believe for a second that Loki wasn't involved in this.
But with so many people watching, he couldn't question Loki directly, especially with a brainless oaf like Thor standing up and taking all the blame. This made him wonder if his eldest son was really his own. His mother, Queen Frigga, was a very wise and beautiful goddess, and he himself was no stranger to strategy—otherwise, how could Asgard have won the wars of the Nine Realms?
"Odin, I'm going to kill this boy right now. I assume you have no objection? He violated the peace treaty signed between us—unless you don't intend to honor the agreement anymore."
The King of the Frost Giants did not have a good temper. He had never been satisfied with Odin's past invasions and had only signed the so-called non-aggression peace treaty under the pressure of force. Most importantly, the Frost Giants' treasure had been locked away in Odin's vault. Laufey hated him! Today, this brainless boy was shouting about killing him. Even if he couldn't beat Odin, killing his son would soothe the resentment in his heart. He was going to slaughter Odin's son today.
"We Asgardians have our own methods of punishment; we don't need your help."
Now was not the time for sentiment. Odin waved his hand, ordering the Asgardian warriors to take away the injured Thor and his heavily wounded companions. Odin's forceful attitude made Laufey's wicked red eyes glow even brighter. He watched Odin's departing back with hatred, his fists clenched tight.
"Bastard~~!"
A furious roar echoed throughout Frost Giants Realm. Odin paused for a moment in his stride before resuming. With a flash of prismatic light, all the Asgardians disappeared from the spot.
Feeling the immense energy of the Bifrost, all the Frost Giants fell silent. Laufey glared viciously at the spot where the Bifrost had vanished, revealed a sinister smile, and led his people back to his palace.
"Thor, because of your recklessness, you nearly dragged all the citizens of Asgard into war, and your friends nearly died because of your impulsiveness. Do you feel no remorse at all?"
Back in his palace, sitting upon the throne that symbolized power, Odin looked angrily at Thor, who showed no sign of regret. He had to admit now that his education had failed; constantly spoiling his child had only turned him into a self-destructive fool.
"Do not plead for him, Queen Frigga."
Seeing his wife trying to stop him, Odin was determined to teach this fellow a lesson this time. Ragnarok was approaching; if this guy didn't grow up a bit, he would lead all of Asgard to ruin. Every time he used his great power to see fragments of the 'future' and saw Thor dying in battle, how could he not feel heartache? He wasn't made of stone; he had feelings. Especially seeing the miserable future of the two brothers, he wished he could take their place. But the truth was, he was old and his strength was failing.
"Thor, just admit you were wrong!"
Seeing Odin's resolve, Queen Frigga looked at Thor. Although these two children were not related to her by blood, she truly loved them and treated them as her own. She looked at Thor with concern, but unfortunately, Thor's stubborn, bull-headed temper meant he wouldn't listen to her at all.
"Father, who has Asgard ever feared? I believe we can definitely defeat the Frost Giant race."
"Father, you are old. You've become an old man with no ambition."
As soon as those words came out, even Loki looked at Thor in shock. Impressive! Big brother, you are truly something! You actually dare to say that to Father? Can't you see Father's face is turning blue with rage? You're really something else. In his heart, he greatly admired his brother's courage and gave his actions 23 likes. Now, no one can save you.
"Thor, you are a vain man. I see none of the virtues of a king in you. Aside from a thirst for blood, arrogance, and pride, you possess not a shred of mercy. You have disappointed me deeply."
Thor's words deeply wounded Odin's heart. He stood up in a rage, pointing gungnir at Thor as he spoke. He was simply too disappointed.
"Only by eliminating the enemy can the people live without fear."
"Enough, Thor! You are no longer worthy of it."
Seeing that Thor still intended to argue and refused to admit his mistake, Odin closed his eyes in anger. The next moment, he opened them, having made his decision. Holding gungnir in one hand, he reached out toward Thor with the other. The hammer that was tightly gripped in Thor's hand instantly flew into Odin's grasp.
"Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor."
As the mystical words were spoken, the Thor's battle armor and red cape on Thor's body vanished.
"Thor, I now banish you from Asgard. Only if you can lift this hammer again will you be worthy to return."
Odin looked at Thor solemnly and pronounced his judgment. Then, he threw Mjolnir. A white tunnel appeared instantly, sucking both Mjolnir and Thor away. Tears fell down Queen Frigga's face, but there was nothing she could do; she could not change Odin's decision. Loki's face didn't show much emotion, though he hadn't expected things to go so smoothly. He had been observing Odin's expression, and seeing the flash of sorrow in Odin's lone eye made him feel angry. Why, when they were both sons, did you favor this brainless big brother?
Loki believed he was no worse than Thor. He had to make his father acknowledge him; he had to become the King of Asgard. But as long as Thor was around, the throne would never be his. Therefore, Thor had to die. At that thought, a flicker of killing intent flashed in his eyes.
Odin sat on the throne looking dejected. No one knew how much pain was in his heart. Judging his own son personally was such a blow to him that he nearly fainted.
"Dear."
"I'm fine. Everyone, go about your business."
Quietly glancing at the spot where Thor had disappeared, Odin looked so old when he stood up. He refused Queen Frigga's support and walked out of the palace looking somewhat withered.
