Chapter 4 - Our First Date

Jay's POV:

Jay stood in front of her mirror for the fifth time.

"This is ridiculous," she muttered, adjusting her outfit again. "It's just a date… not a big deal."

But it was a big deal.

It was her first date with Keifer—not as "almost something," not as "just friends," but as something real.

Something official.

Her phone buzzed.

Keifer: I'm outside.

Her heart skipped.

"Okay… breathe," she whispered to herself, grabbing her bag and heading out.

Keifer leaned against his car , trying to look calm.

He wasn't.

The moment he saw Jay walking toward him, everything else faded.

For a second, he forgot how to speak.

"You look…" he started, then stopped.

Jay raised an eyebrow, smiling slightly. "Wow, great start."

He laughed nervously. "No, I mean—you look really beautiful."

Her cheeks turned pink. "Thank you… you don't look bad yourself."

"'Not bad'?" he teased. "I'll take it."

The ride felt different from every other time.

Neither of them said much—but the silence wasn't empty. It was filled with small, quiet happiness.

They stopped at a cozy café tucked away from the crowd.

Warm lights. Soft music. The kind of place that felt like it was made for moments like this.

"Nice choice," Jay said, looking around.

"I was hoping you'd like it," Keifer replied.

They sat across from each other, menus in hand—but neither really reading.

"So…" Jay said, smiling nervously. "This is our first official date."

"Yeah," Keifer nodded. "Feels… different, right?"

"Better," she admitted.

He smiled. "Definitely better."

The conversation started slow, filled with small laughs and shy glances.

But soon, it became easy.

They talked about everything—random memories, embarrassing moments, dreams they hadn't told anyone before.

At one point, Jay laughed so hard she had to cover her face.

"Stop," she said, still laughing. "I cannot believe you did that!"

"I was a kid!" Keifer defended himself. "I didn't know jumping from a table with an umbrella wouldn't make me fly!"

Jay laughed even harder. "You're unbelievable."

"And you like me anyway," he said.

She paused, smiling softly. "Yeah… I do."

After the café, they decided to walk.

The evening sky had turned golden, slowly fading into shades of pink and purple.

They walked side by side, their hands brushing slightly… again and again… until finally—

Keifer reached for her hand.

This time, he didn't hesitate.

Jay looked at their hands for a second, then back at him.

And smiled.

She held on.

They reached a quiet park.

It wasn't crowded. Just a few people, distant laughter, and a gentle breeze that made everything feel calm.

They sat on a bench.

For a moment, neither of them spoke.

"Can I tell you something?" Keifer said softly.

Jay turned to him. "Hmm?"

"I've imagined this," he admitted. "Us… like this. A lot more times than I'll admit."

Jay's heart melted a little. "Really?"

"Yeah," he smiled. "But somehow… this is even better."

She looked at him, her expression soft.

"I feel the same," she said quietly.

The silence returned—but this time, it felt deeper.

More meaningful.

Keifer slowly lifted his hand, brushing a strand of hair away from her face.

Jay didn't move.

Didn't look away.

He leaned in slightly.

"Is this okay?" he whispered.

Jay smiled.

"You ask too much," she said softly.

And then—

They kissed.

This time, it wasn't hesitant.

It wasn't new.

It was warm. Comfortable. Real.

The kind of kiss that felt like home.

When they pulled apart, both of them stayed close, foreheads almost touching.

Jay laughed softly. "This is… nice."

"Yeah," Keifer said. "I don't want this day to end."

"Me neither."

Later, he dropped her home.

The same gate.

The same place.

But everything felt different now.

Better.

"Today was perfect," Jay said.

"It was," Keifer agreed. "You made it perfect."

She smiled. "You did too."

A small pause.

Then—

"One more?" he asked.

Jay laughed. "You're getting used to this, huh?"

"Very quickly."

She stepped closer.

"Good," she said.

And kissed him again.

As she went inside, she turned back—just like before.

He was still there.

Still smiling.

And as Keifer walked back that night, his heart felt full in a way he couldn't explain.

Not nervous.

Not unsure.

Just… happy.

Because this time, it wasn't just a dream anymore.

It was real.

And it was theirs. 💛

The end .
