Chapter 33: Nine-Tails Attack
Orochimaru's hair stood on end as he whipped his head around.
He saw the black-robed figure standing beside him at some unknown moment, less than half a meter away! At this distance, if the opponent had a Kunai, his carotid artery would have already been severed.
Orochimaru instinctively tried to pull away, but he suddenly felt a chill on his left ear.
That feeling... it was as if something had been taken away.
He frantically reached for his left ear.
Empty.
His signature purple magatama earring was gone.
"The craftsmanship is decent, but the material is average."
Yahiko stood three paces away, playing with the earring he had just plucked from Orochimaru's ear, examining it through the light. "As a meeting gift, it's a bit shabby, Orochimaru."
Orochimaru stared fixedly at the earring, a layer of cold sweat breaking out on his back.
What just happened?
Not only did he dodge my attack, but he also took my personal accessory without me noticing?
If he had taken my head... "Who exactly are you?" Orochimaru's voice was no longer composed, carrying a deep sense of wariness.
There were only a handful of people in the entire Ninja World capable of this. But he searched his memory and couldn't find any character that matched this mysterious person in front of him.
Yahiko tossed the earring up, caught it, and then tucked it into his pocket right in front of Orochimaru.
He tucked the massive scroll of seals under one arm like a baguette and turned toward the window.
"A name is just a code. But if you must know..."
Yahiko stopped, tilted his head, his fox mask looking particularly eerie in the shadows. "You can call me 'Zero'."
"'Zero'?" Orochimaru chewed on the name.
"Tap, tap, tap."
Rapid footsteps came from the hallway.
"There's movement on the third floor!"
"Protect the Hokage Office!"
The large number of remaining Anbu finally reacted and were rapidly closing in.
Yahiko shrugged. "It seems your colleagues have come to pick you up. I'll be borrowing this scroll of seals for now. As for this mess..."
He pointed to the wrecked office.
"I'll have to trouble the famous one of the Sannin, Orochimaru-sama, to help explain it."
Orochimaru's face instantly turned ashen.
Framing him?
This bastard stole the goods and wants me to take the fall?!
"Wait!" Orochimaru shouted as he watched Yahiko about to leap out the window. "You mentioned a meeting gift... what is your objective? How can I find you?"
For someone like Orochimaru, who hungered for knowledge and truth, the "unknown" power Yahiko displayed was even more attractive than the scroll of seals.
Yahiko stood on the windowsill, the night wind whipping his black robe.
"When you can no longer find a place in this hypocritical Village, when you realize the fragility and boredom of life..."
Yahiko chuckled, a laugh carrying an arrogance that seemed to see through fate.
"You'll know where to find me."
With that, Yahiko leaped and vanished into the vast night rain.
"Dammit!"
Orochimaru rushed to the window, gnashing his teeth, but the black-robed figure was long gone.
"Boom!"
At that moment, the office door was violently kicked open.
A dozen Anbu rushed in, blades in hand, instantly locking onto the only living person in the room.
"Don't move!"
"Orochimaru-sama?!"
The leading Anbu looked at the remains of the snakes on the floor and the empty desk, his gaze instantly becoming sharp. "Orochimaru-sama, where is the scroll of seals? Hokage-sama has ordered that no one is allowed to enter here without permission!"
Orochimaru looked at the Anbu who were usually respectful but were now pointing swords at him, then glanced at his empty hands.
An unprecedented sense of frustration welled up in his heart.
He, the great Cold Lord Orochimaru, had gained nothing tonight and was now going to be framed for stealing the Village's secrets?
"If I said I came here to catch a thief, would you believe me?"
Orochimaru asked gloomily.
The Anbu didn't speak; they just silently tightened their grip on their weapons, the Killing Intent on them saying everything.
"Heh... hehehe..."
Orochimaru laughed out of pure anger, a terrifying Chakra erupting from him as his long hair fluttered without wind.
"Now is not the time to leave the Village. It seems I'll have to shut you up."
A series of screams rang out from the room... On the water tank at the top of the Hokage Building.
He watched the figure of one of the "Konoha Sannin" fleeing rapidly across the rooftops below, leaving the crime scene, and couldn't help but shake his head.
"Run faster, Orochimaru. This is your first step toward the Akatsuki."
Yahiko withdrew his gaze and slung the heavy scroll of seals over his back.
Then, he turned and looked toward the forest on the outskirts of the Village.
There, a black sphere emitting a heart-palpitating aura was rapidly forming in the Nine-Tailed's mouth.
That was a Tailed Beast Ball capable of destroying everything.
"The big show is about to begin."
Yahiko took off his mask, revealing a cold and youthful face.
"Let me see how long the so-called 'Will of Fire' can burn in the face of absolute power."
