Chapter 47: The Orange Flash and the Final Lesson
Boom—!
A dull impact echoed within the canyon, and rubble flew everywhere.
Kakuzu tumbled through the air in a sorry state, narrowly avoiding a giant horn as thick as a stone pillar. He was in terrible condition; the Mask Monster on his back had been completely destroyed by Yahiko. Relying solely on his original body's Water Release to suppress this thick-skinned beast was nothing more than a pipe dream.
"Damn it! If you don't show up soon, I'm out of here!" Kakuzu cursed as he landed, his feet carving two deep furrows in the mud.
"Don't be in such a hurry; the organization will take note of your hard work."
A playful voice rang out without warning in the space behind Kakuzu.
Near a Kunai embedded in the rock wall engraved with a formula, three figures wearing black robes with red clouds appeared out of thin air in the next second, descending into the canyon.
Yahiko stood with his hands in his pockets, scanning the rampaging prehistoric giant beast.
"So this is the so-called weapon of war? It doesn't seem very bright."
By now, the thirty-meter-tall One-horned rhino had noticed the newly arrived "little bugs." It snorted a breath smelling of sulfur, its crimson eyes locking onto Yahiko and the others. Its four hooves kicked the ground, and its massive body transformed into an out-of-control heavy tank, charging forward with an Aura that could crush everything!
The earth trembled, and muddy water rose like a tsunami.
Kakuzu instinctively wanted to dodge, only to find that Yahiko and the masked man hadn't moved at all.
Deva Path Pain took a step forward.
In those ripple-patterned Rinnegan, there was no emotion, only a cold indifference as if looking down at ants. He slowly raised his right hand, palm aimed at the charging giant beast.
"Shinra Tensei."
Hum—!
A visible wave of transparent repulsive force erupted suddenly, centered around Deva Path.
The rhino, weighing hundreds of tons and capable of smashing through city walls, saw the flesh on its face quiver violently the moment it touched the repulsive field. Its momentum came to a screeching halt. Then, its massive body was struck as if by an invisible giant hand, and it was actually sent flying!
Rumble!
The rhino's massive body crashed into the pile of rocks behind it, legs in the air, eyes rolled back as it passed out. The multiple barriers that originally shrouded the canyon also shattered inch by inch like glass under the impact.
"No matter how many times I see it, the power of those eyes is despair-inducing." Kakuzu's eyelids twitched, and the small schemes in his heart were completely extinguished.
"Animal Path," Yahiko gave a soft command.
The petite Animal Path Pain flickered and landed on top of the mountain-like rhino's head. With a squelch, a black receiver was precisely thrust into the Chakra Acupoints in its brain.
Summoning contract, forcibly signed.
Poof! A huge cloud of white smoke rose, and the giant beast vanished.
Just then, the sound of rushing wind suddenly came from the mist above the canyon.
"Enemy attack! It's intruders!"
"Over there! The ones who destroyed the barrier!"
Several masked Takigakure Anbu leaped out from the shadows behind the waterfall. The commotion from the barrier breaking was too great and had finally drawn the guards. Looking at the intruders below wearing the same strange robes, a sharp glint flashed in the eyes of the Anbu squad leader.
"Water Release: Water Collision Wave!"
"Water Release: Water Dragon Bullet!"
Even if he couldn't gauge the enemy's depth, as an Anbu, striking first was instinct. A overwhelming flood of high-pressure water mixed with sharp water bullets poured down toward Yahiko and the others like a rainstorm.
"How noisy."
Yahiko looked up, his orange hair blown aside by the wind.
To deal with small fry of this level, there was no need to even use King Crimson's "Time Deletion."
Yahiko flicked his wrists, and four specially made kunai transformed into black lightning, shooting out toward four different directions.
"What's the point of such ordinary Kunai attacks—"
A Takigakure Anbu was about to scoff, but the words got stuck in his throat.
Because in his field of vision, the red-haired man's figure had vanished.
Swish!
A flash of orange light flickered and vanished in the dim canyon.
It wasn't the gold of Minato Namikaze, but the orange light unique to the Akatsuki.
That Anbu felt a chill in his chest. Yahiko's figure abruptly appeared before him, their faces less than ten centimeters apart.
The hideous red and white phantom, King Crimson, appeared behind Yahiko. Its heavy fist, capable of crushing rock, slammed into the Anbu's chest with total disregard for logic.
Bang!
The sternum collapsed, and the heart stopped instantly.
But this was only the beginning.
In the next instant, Yahiko's figure vanished into thin air once again.
Swish! Swish! Swish!
Several erratic orange lines seemed to light up in the canyon. Every flash was accompanied by a dull thud and the crisp sound of bones shattering.
There was no complex Ninjutsu exchange, no back-and-forth testing.
In just three seconds.
The overwhelming Water Release Ninjutsu lost its Chakra support and fell as ordinary rain.
The corpses of five Takigakure Anbu fell into the mud almost simultaneously. Their cause of death was identical—devastating blunt force trauma to the chest or throat.
"Is this that guy's true Flying Thunder God...?"
Watching from the side, Kakuzu's scalp tingled. If the Shinra Tensei from earlier was like divine majesty, then this elusive instant-kill technique was the Shinigami's roll call.
Just how many trump cards was this man still hiding?
Yahiko's figure flickered as he returned to his original spot. Toying with the last Kunai in his hand, he glanced toward a dense forest on the left side of the canyon.
"You've been watching the show for so long; don't you plan to come out and buy a ticket?"
The forest was deathly silent.
"Deva Path," Yahiko's tone was flat.
Deva Path Pain raised his hand, palm aimed at the forest. The gravitational wave of Banshō Tenin was ready to be unleashed.
"Wait! We're coming out!"
A young man's voice rang out.
The bushes rustled, and a silver-haired young Jonin walked out with his hands raised. Behind him followed three trembling youths who looked like they were just Genin who had recently graduated.
This was likely a master-disciple squad on a patrol mission.
The silver-haired Jonin glanced at the Anbu corpses scattered on the ground, then at Pain with the Rinnegan and the smiling Yahiko. His face was as pale as paper.
As a veteran who had been through the fires of war, he knew very well the gap in their combat power.
It wasn't a chasm that numbers could bridge; it was an absolute crushing in terms of power.
"Teacher..." A little girl behind him tugged at the corner of his clothes with a sob.
The silver-haired Jonin took a deep breath, as if he had made some sort of decision. He didn't shout and rush forward to fight to the death like in a hot-blooded manga, nor did he kneel and beg for mercy.
He turned around, his back to Yahiko and the others, looking at his three students with a gaze more severe than ever before.
"Listen, I am going to teach you your final lesson now."
"Turn around now and run toward the exit with all your strength."
"Teacher? What about you?"
"Don't look back, don't stop, and don't think about revenge!" The silver-haired Jonin drew the short sword from his back, though his hands were trembling slightly. "In this damn Ninja World, nothing is more important than staying alive. Even if you have to live like a dog, you must survive for me!"
"Run!!"
