Chapter 1 - The Tyrant Tycoon

Very few people know what it looks like from the top of the world. For those at the bottom, the top stretches beyond the heavens. To climb to its top is believed to be beyond possible; for so many, it is nothing more than an idle fantasy.

One man, Mason Ozul, sits alone at the top of the world. For him, fantasy is reality. He has conquered the world and created the world-dominating corporation Ozul Industries Inc. He has amassed so much money and property that it's impossible to quantify his wealth.

All nations have united under Ozul Industries, and Mason Ozul, if you ask him, rules the world as a benevolent tyrant. Thus, he is known among those who fear him, hate him, and even many of his allies as the Tyrant Tycoon.

Of course, Mason didn't reach these heights without some help. His achievements are the stuff of fantasy, but Mason has a cheat: the Endless Wealth System!

Reclining in his chair, a man in his mid-thirties swipes at a screen that only he can see. It was clear from his face that he was bored.

"Haaa, here I am at the top of the world. All of my dreams have been fulfilled. I even did that Scrooge McDuck thing and swam in a silo filled with gold. I had to build a special suit for that so that I wouldn't die.

"I own the world, and all the best women are my wives; now all that I can do is send a spaceship to find new sources of wealth, but why would it matter? How much more money can I use? Maybe there are some aliens out there that could give me some challenge. Wouldn't that be interesting, pitting my wealth-creating abilities against the geniuses of the universe? If only I knew if there were other alien races out there."

Mason snapped out of his languor, "System, Pal! I'm shocked! You never told me whether there were others in the universe or not. Now, you're telling me that we're all alone? I won? How tragic is this, and how lonely it is at the top."

Jerking his attention toward the system, "System buddy, no, don't misunderstand me. I'm grateful for everything you've done for me. It's just that I feel so empty. In the early days, I was thrilled to build my empire from being a penniless good-for-nothing into the world's financial monarch. There's nothing to challenge me, and I don't know what to do."

For the first time, Mason looked serious, "Yeah, I understand that there's more to life than stuff. What are you getting at, system buddy?"

"A choice? A final choice? It's not death, is it? If so, I refused, I'll keep being bored and enjoy life with my beautiful wives and countless children."

It was at this moment that Mason's heart filled with hope and excitement, something that was missing for a long time, "What about my company, my wife, and my kids? Can I take my family with me?"

"You're very cheeky, System bro, it's what I've always loved about you. What happens if I leave them?"

"Ezzie will take over? That makes sense. Do you think they would miss me? I can't imagine leaving my children."

"I can't -- Really -- they think of me so poorly? Do you think I could fix things if I stayed?"

"So, they wouldn't miss me."

"Are you saying that to make me feel better?"

"You're very harsh, System buddy, but it's not that I don't love my children, it's that I've failed them, they don't need me, and neither do my wives. Sometimes, I feel like a monster for not connecting with them more. I've always felt detached from the world. It feels like the world exists because I'm here. That's an egotistical way of looking at the world, but I don't live in this world. I don't know where I live, and maybe my family deserves more than me."

"Yes, let's do this. Should I go and say goodbye fir--"

Mason Ozul's soul disappeared from Earth. The next morning, his body was found at his desk. The coroner ruled it a heart attack due to stress; overworking for so many years, many concluded.

Among the people of Earth, many celebrated his death. His wives and children had a mixed sense of bitterness and sadness. Many of his wives felt free and felt guilty for feeling that way. They loved their husband, but hated him too. The children were split; the older ones felt a little sad about their father, but also resentful, especially Germán. The younger children cried because they believed their father loved them, and they loved him. In a way, he did love them; he just loved himself more. That was the opinion of his wives, although they never said it outloud.
