Chapter 54: Vortigern Prepared Something Ruthless For This Noble
Noah was not particularly skilled in political maneuvering.
But he was the type who knew his own limitations well.
Even after obtaining something like the Simulation System, he never forgot this fact, nor did he allow his shortcomings to plunge him into the abyss of arrogance.
Therefore, when handling such matters, Noah often relied on the information he gained from simulations to create ultra-detailed plans that accounted for every possible detail!
After the Six Kings entered Camelot, he would wait four days—letting them visit the market on the first day and using the remaining three days as preparation time. On the fifth day, he would host the first banquet, aiming to pressure them appropriately and establish their first impression of him.
However, during this banquet, no serious matters would be discussed with them.
On the sixth day, he would leave them to their own devices.
Then, on the seventh day, a second banquet would be held—this time on a smaller scale, inviting only King Leodegrance and King Rience.
This would be the moment to bring up all issues regarding the salt industry and matters concerning the South.
Through this back-and-forth, the kings would remain in Camelot for at least seven days. Noah would then detain them for one more day—the eighth day—by which time Morgan would have returned.
Yes.
Noah's plan was not confined to Camelot alone.
Sending Morgan to the Southern Six Territories was also part of this scheme.
Noah intended to keep the Six Southern Kings in Camelot for seven days—enough time for Morgan to handle everything on her end and bring back the ringleaders for public execution!
Admittedly, this approach showed little regard for the Six Southern Kings' dignity.
But taking action against those nobles and confiscating their assets was inherently disrespectful to the Six Southern Kings.
Noah would not show mercy in this matter.
Thus, he decided to go all out—making his stance clear and letting the Six Southern Kings draw their own conclusions.
Of course.
Noah already knew what their conclusions would be.
He factored in all possible outcomes and added finer details to his plan.
Among the Six Southern Kings, one aligned with King Rience would grow discontent over this affair—his wife was one of the nobles of the Southern Six Territories, and the nobles' actions had been tacitly permitted by him to some extent.
However, he would not object while the Southern Six Territories' nobles were being dealt with.
Instead, over a decade later, after defeating Vortigern, he would escalate his actions.
Therefore...
Noah's instructions to Morgan included arrangements for this king as well.
Since he would tolerate the situation for now, there was no need to move against him immediately.
Once the lord who could view this issue more objectively matured, he would be replaced, allowing the younger generation to take charge!
Noah had full confidence in Morgan's ability to handle this matter.
In his current position, Morgan was the most suited to manage such affairs—both now and in the future.
Although Scáthach and Vortigern could also handle these matters competently, they were undoubtedly inferior to Morgan in this regard.
Thus, after the banquet concluded, Noah paid no attention to Guinevere, who seemed eager to speak with him, nor did he entertain the attendants brought by the other Southern Kings attempting to curry favor. Instead, he...
After coldly sending the Six Southern Kings back to their territories, while they were still pondering the day's events, Morgan had already begun her slaughter across the Southern Six Territories!
Those nobles, nearly every one grown fat and complacent, stood no chance against Morgan. Perhaps their ancestors had truly possessed some glory, but that glory no longer belonged to them. Morgan, accompanied by the personnel arranged for her by Noah—the embryonic form of the Enforcement Knights—executed one noble household after another in the Southern Six Territories, looting each in turn.
By the time the nobles realized what was happening, nearly half of them had already been killed by Morgan. Some of the remaining nobles planned to resist, while others, seeing the situation unfold and knowing the Six Southern Kings had been summoned to Camelot by Arthur—making rescue impossible—simply gathered their assets and fled toward Saxon territory.
They believed themselves forced into desperation. They intended to seek refuge with Vortigern! Some even prided themselves on their "wisdom" in having long hedged their bets on both sides. Little did they know, Morgan was watching their every move. The wealth they tried to take with them was intercepted by Morgan's agents disguised as bandits, who robbed them en route. As for the nobles themselves... they were, of course, allowed to proceed to Saxon lands~
After all, when the time came for her "righteous army from Camelot" to bring justice to these nobles with the Enforcement Knights, merely recovering the "ill-gotten gains" they had taken to the Saxon Barbarians from bandits would hardly suffice! Morgan needed a few examples to take back for public execution, and a few others to genuinely defect to Vortigern.
This way, the nobles—long perceived by the people as a unified, entrenched class—would be utterly finished! Morgan would uproot them completely!
While Morgan dealt with the nobles of the Southern Six Territories, Vortigern was also on the move. But Vortigern wasn't targeting nobles with killings or similar actions; she didn't want to interfere with Noah's plans. She had merely overheard Kay in the treasury mentioning that Noah was short on funds.
So, she ordered the Saxon Barbarians to gather their treasures and, while Morgan was conducting her raids, deliver them to the nobles' hidden vaults! This task was impossible for others to accomplish without Morgan noticing, but Vortigern herself could manage it. Thus, she was now controlling her avatar to carry out this very mission.
However, an avatar is still just an avatar, so it wasn't easy. After all, Morgan was a user of the Island's power, and on the island of Britain, doing anything under her watchful eye without detection was quite challenging. So, Vortigern observed carefully.
She noticed that Morgan had captured several noble families but hadn't immediately looted their homes—instead, she had their manors and castles surrounded, leaving their treasuries untouched. Seizing this opportunity, Vortigern didn't dare act too broadly. She targeted one noble who appeared the wealthiest, with multiple manors and a large castle, and stuffed all the treasures she had collected over the years, along with those plundered by the Saxon Barbarians for so long, right into their vault!
While depositing the treasures, she even mused to herself that she had chosen correctly.
After all, even that ridiculously large treasury was packed to the brim with so much treasure—if it were a smaller vault, it truly wouldn't have been able to hold it all!
She had no idea these nobles were the examples Noah needed for public execution, nor did she know Morgan would soon set up Magecraft around their manors and castles—searching their family treasuries needed to be witnessed by all of Britain.
But even if she had known, she probably wouldn't have cared.
What really stood out was that noble family's crimes.
They were already unforgivable to begin with; otherwise, Morgan wouldn't have chosen them without even needing to enter the treasury. And now, their offenses were supercharged!
After all, Vortigern had collected treasures for so many years, plus the Saxon Barbarians had looted endlessly during this peak era of their dominance... This hoard might even surpass Britain's total tax revenue for decades!
So the captured noble hadn't yet realized that soon, he would not only answer for his own crimes over the years but also bear responsibility for Vortigern and the Saxon Barbarians' decades of atrocities!
