Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: The First Appearance of the Dragon

Chapter 24: The First Appearance of the Dragon

Narrow Sea, The Stepstones, Cutthroat Isle

A tense and oppressive atmosphere permeated the air on Cutthroat Isle, as if it were waiting with bated breath for something to happen.

The sky was now covered by thick dark clouds; they were like blackened cotton wool, constantly expanding and piling up, gradually obscuring the originally bright sunlight.

The sea breeze began to blow restlessly, and the air, which used to be heavy with a salty fishy smell, now carried a hint of moisture.

The waves gradually became turbulent, crashing against the rocks on the shore wave after wave, splashing high into the air and letting out bursts of roaring sound.

The seagulls seemed to sense an ominous aura; they no longer played or soared, but flew in flocks toward the depths of the Throat-Cutting Isle Main Island, as if seeking refuge there.

The island's vegetation also began to show signs of agitation and unease; the leaves of coconut trees, palm trees, and other trees swayed violently in the wind, as if struggling to break free from the shackles of some terrifying power.

At this moment, Jon seemed as if he didn't feel the approaching storm at all; his body felt as though it were being guarded by something, preventing the howling gales from affecting him in the slightest.

"Lord Jon, the storm seems to be upon us. Are you really going to the Godswood? Won't it be too dangerous!"

Due to the whistling of the gale, Garo almost had to shout when he spoke, but even so, Jon still did not stop his pace.

"The gods are protecting me, Garo. Have you ever seen a heart tree struck by lightning?"

Jon's words drifted through the wind; his tone was very calm, completely unaffected by the gale.

The reason Jon was in such a hurry was entirely because of the dungeon quest notification he received yesterday afternoon. Originally, Jon thought the system would prompt him to go to The Wall to complete the quest.

But when he examined the system quest information, the system directly selected the 'King's Landing Instance' quest for him.

Jon vaguely remembered that this system quest seemed to be called 'The Northern Wolf's Southern Tour.' It looked like the system wanted him to interfere with the plot in King's Landing.

After completing the quest on The Wall last time, Jon had a vague feeling that the system was guiding him to interfere with the original plot.

Although Jon wasn't clear about the system's purpose or principles, he had a subtle feeling that the more he influenced the original plot, the more powerful the system would become.

Perhaps at the very beginning, the reason the system suddenly awakened was because Jon chose the path of going south.

"The news of the 'The Chainbreakers' will likely spread throughout The Stepstones soon. During my absence, you must continue to strengthen training and patrols. Such situations may become more frequent in the future, so the rest will depend on you."

"As you command, Lord Jon!"... Upon hearing Jon's arrangements, the several people present felt the heavy burden on their shoulders. However, they knew that every time Jon prayed, he would gain even greater power.

Therefore, they did not have much fear at this moment, because they all knew very well that Jon would surely lead them to victory and success.

This was not blind worship or self-consolation, but the confidence they had gained after witnessing true miracles.

In the eyes of people like Kapo and Garo who had traveled far and wide, an existence like Jon had never appeared in the history of either the Eastern or Western continents.

And this meant that Jon was very likely to create a myth similar to those of the ancient kings, and they were the witnesses of history and myth.

"Go back, Ghost alone will be enough to guard me this time!"

Seeing that Narsas and the two members of 'The Ring Guard Squad' still wanted to step forward, Jon spoke directly to stop them.

Upon hearing Jon's words, Ghost quickly leaped up. By now, Ghost had grown to his peak state.

His massive body was already about the size of a half-grown cow. If it were someone small like Arya Stark, Ghost could probably carry her.

Unfortunately, because a wolf's body structure is different from that of a horse or a cow, such a scene of fighting while riding a wolf could only be seen in actual games.

Looking at Ghost, who had completely adapted to the action of wagging his tail, Jon was momentarily unsure whether he was a wolf or a dog.

However, this big fellow had now become the totem of the entire Cutthroat Isle. Many people liked to watch him howl under the moon, because they felt that Ghost was communicating with the moon.

"Crack..."

As Jon left, the dark clouds in the sky became as black as if they had been dyed with ink, and after accumulating countless energy...

Terrifying lightning began to pour its power onto everything below, and with the appearance of the lightning, the twin forces of gale and giant waves began to launch their most violent assault on Cutthroat Isle.

"Let's hurry and check the work Lord Jon arranged! If he returns from his prayer and finds we haven't done anything well, it will be truly terrible."

Watching the storm approach, Garo quickly made arrangements for everyone. For some reason, Garo always felt that whenever Jon prayed, nothing good would happen in his vicinity.

It was like that on the 'sea fox,' and during the last prayer, a pirate riot occurred. This time, they encountered a storm again.

"May the gods protect us!"

Meanwhile, Jon, led by the Direwolf Ghost, walked step by step toward the Godswood.

After sitting on the root throne that belonged to him, waves of dizziness soon hit Jon's mind.

Immediately after, Jon's vision went black, and he directly entered an out-of-body state. With the enhancement of some power, Jon's soul flew toward the northwest like a giant dragon.

In that massive storm, Jon saw a gigantic crow, or rather, a twisted creature composed of a crow and various unutterable organs.

The opponent had the upper body of a crow, but below the neck, it was connected by various strange organs; they were either terrifying, twisted, or filled one with loathing at first sight.

When Jon looked at this fellow, the other party seemed to sense Jon's presence as well, casting its gaze toward Jon's position.

With just one glance, Jon seemed to see countless drowned men; the helplessness of struggling before death and the fear of facing the dark abyss surged toward Jon like a flood.

"Roar..."

Perhaps sensing a threat, or perhaps awakened by some power, Jon felt as if he had been ignited by flames at this moment.

After bursts of loud dragon roars, a giant dragon composed of black-purple scales and blood-red cuticles appeared in the sky.

Jon felt very uncomfortable at this moment, as if flames were burning all over his body. It was precisely because of these flames that the area around Jon's eyes had been a hazy gray.

But he did not know that his soul, separated from his body, had turned into a terrifying demon dragon.

It had a body as massive as that crow monster, enveloped in black-purple flames. The storm whipped up by its four pairs of giant dragon wings seemed ready to tear everything around it apart.

On its incredibly strong body, the muscle lines were very distinct, just like those bodybuilders on the Blue Planet. The black-purple scales were covered with blood-colored cuticles.

They flowed down from the demon dragon's head like blood. This very special-looking cuticle, like a crown worn by a human king, made people unable to help but feel awe.

"Roar..."

The provoked demon dragon let out a roar directly, and with this roar, everything in this space seemed about to be shattered.

Jon, whose eyes were hazy, did not know everything happening to him at this time; he only felt waves of scorching energy gathering around him.

Then he flew like a cannonball toward a cold and damp place. As those waves of coolness arrived, the burning sensation around Jon was instantly relieved quite a bit.

After the heat lasted for a while longer, Jon finally completely returned to his initial state, and as his eyes gradually cleared...

A massive city gradually appeared before him. Upon seeing a certain burnt, abandoned domed building and a certain red castle, Jon finally understood that he had reached King's Landing.

Looking at this familiar yet strange city, Jon's heart was filled with emotion. Last time, or rather, in another timeline...

It was in front of this broken castle that Jon killed the person he loved most, because of a certain possibility in his heart, or a strange idea in his mind.

He ended the emergence of a new dynasty and killed the last Valyrian Dragonlord bloodline in this world who had truly awakened their power.

"Let me end this disgusting conclusion. Whether it be fame or infamy, as long as this world can be truly stable, then everything is worth it."

"System updating..."

As if in response to Jon's sentiment, the system, which had been unresponsive, suddenly popped out this sentence.

Upon hearing this prompt, Jon's soul trembled, because it had been a long time since the system gave an upgrade prompt.

"Class Ability Template importing..."

"Mall Function Template importing..."

"Magic Stone Mutation Ability Template importing..."

...
