Synopsis
I’m a scammer. Not the loud, careless kind—no. I lure rich, lonely men into fake love stories and drain them slowly. Money first. Thrill second. And the best part? Ghosting them. The endless messages they send afterward, begging, spiraling, knowing I’ll never come back. It was productive. It was fun. Until I met him. Now I’m the one begging—for him to leave me. Devlinn Everything about her was fake. The smile. The words. The affection dripping through a screen. That’s what pulled me in. I was willing to play along. After all, darling Rae doesn’t know this yet—but I’m not an easy target. And I never lose a game I choose to play. He’s a charming psychopath with an agenda of his own. She scams hearts for a living. Chapter 1 - prologue

Liora

"Oh, Adrian," I said, smiling brightly, though he couldn't see my face through the phone. "Don't you think it's too early for us to meet up? It hasn't even been two weeks."

He tried to persuade me, rambling about how true love doesn't need time, how once you find the right person… bullshit. They're all the same, eager to meet.

I paused, letting silence settle. He'd think I was actually considering his plan to meet in New York, while I was here, in L.A. "It's not that I don't want to see you," I murmured, feigning hesitation. "I'd give anything to be with you, but I… can't."

"Why?" His voice pitched slightly, hope or maybe desire lingering, betrayed by all the fake nudes I'd sent him. That's right, fake nudes, dangerous weapons, paired with my sweet words, always these gullible men undoing.

"I don't have enough money to come to New York, and I don't want to impose," I added, sounding considerate.

"That's fine, I'll send some to you," he replied, oblivious. And just like that, our conversation continued, me in control, him falling harder.

If only the asshole knew, that was the last time we would ever speake. That's right, I never show up.
