Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: A Collision with Fate

Life hasn't been easy since I lost my mom. Getting a job has been so hard. Even with my qualifications, no one was willing to employ me.

One evening, when I stepped out to throw away some clothes I no longer wore, I saw a paper pasted on the wall. It said that a new creative company was looking for workers.

Joy filled my heart instantly.

Yes, I knew this wasn't exactly the kind of job I was supposed to do with my first-class degree, but I had no choice. I had bills waiting for me.

That night, I couldn't sleep. My mind kept replaying the poster over and over again. I just hoped I would get the job.

I was so happy and anxious that I didn't even realize when I dozed off.

"Oh no, I'm late!"

I checked the time. It was 8:30 a.m. The interview was scheduled for 8:00 a.m.

"I'm not going to miss this opportunity," I whispered to myself.

Immediately, I rushed into the bathroom. I didn't even shower properly because I was in a hurry. I grabbed my files and ran out of the house.

I stood by the roadside waiting for a taxi. Thirty minutes passed. At that point, I began to lose hope. I started shivering, my heart beating fast.

Finally, I saw a taxi approaching and quickly jumped in. The driver charged twice the usual price, but I desperately needed this job. Since I was already late, I agreed without arguing.

Little did I know that traffic was waiting for me.

At that moment, I felt like crying. Why did it feel like life itself was against me?

I spent thirty-five minutes stuck on the road. By the time I arrived at the location, I was sweating, breathing heavily, and already frustrated. The road to the company was too narrow for cars, so I had to walk the remaining five minutes.

I walked as fast as I could. Time was not on my side.

Suddenly, a rude guy bumped into me. My bag fell to the ground, and all my files scattered everywhere.

"Can't you see? Are you blind or something?" he snapped.

I expected him to apologize—even though sorry wouldn't fix the mess—but instead he looked at me angrily and said,

"Do you know how expensive these shoes are? You're lucky I'm in a good mood today. Next time, you won't be this lucky."

What the hell? I should be the angry one here.

But I didn't have time to argue. I quickly gathered my files and ran toward my destination.

When I finally arrived, I greeted the man at the front desk.

"Good morning, sir. I'm here for the vacancy."

"I'm sorry," he replied, "the interview time is over."

"Please, sir. I came from very far away. I'm really sorry," I pleaded.

He looked at me from head to toe before asking me to come inside. He offered me a seat.

I felt relieved. Thank God my coming here wasn't in vain.

Suddenly, there was commotion outside. People began rushing in.

The man who was about to interview me asked, "What's going on?"

"The young CEO is coming," someone replied.

The young CEO?

Does that mean the person sitting with me is not the CEO of this company?

Then… who is?
