The women immediately stopped talking and curtsied. None of them dared to object to the newly crowned queen, and within moments, they had withdrawn from the room, leaving Lina alone.
She forced herself to sit up and check the doors and windows. Only after confirming that everything was properly secured did she make her way to the bed. The moment her head touched the pillow, she fell asleep.
For the first time since arriving in this world, she slept without having to remain constantly alert to every sound around her.
Unfortunately, the peace did not last.
Lina had been asleep for less than an hour when she suddenly woke. She lay still for a moment, staring blankly ahead as she tried to gather her thoughts. Her body remained heavy with exhaustion, and she was just beginning to consider getting out of bed when a deep male voice spoke from somewhere in front of her.
"Awake at last?"
Lina jolted upright.
