The Copper Barrens were a wasteland of oxidized metallic dust and jagged, rust-colored ridges. It was a "No Man's Land" where the atmospheric pressure was wildly inconsistent due to the magnetic interference of the iron-rich soil. For most, it was a death trap of respiratory failure; for Gu Xian, it was a playground of variables.
However, the playground was currently on fire.
Gu Xian sat cross-legged in the shadow of a basalt pillar. His skin was pale, almost translucent, and a faint, rhythmic "click" emanated from his skull—the sound of his Neural-Lattice struggling to sync the high-speed data from three shards.

The Pursuit: Azure-Iron Hybridization
The silence of the barrens was shattered by the scream of high-pressure steam and the whistle of cutting wind. From the horizon, four streaks of blue and bronze light approached.
The Azure Peak and the Sun-Severing Sect, once rivals, had formed a desperate coalition. Their goal: The Retrieval of the Anomalous Architect.
Leading them was a "Hybrid Sentinel"—a former Azure Peak Elder who had willingly undergone "Clockwork Augmentation" to survive the flight into the barrens. He had wings of blue Qi and a chest cavity reinforced with a Sun-Severing steam-core.
"Information detected," Gu Xian whispered, his eyes not even opening. "Four targets. Three 7th Stage cultivators, one 8th Stage Hybrid. Distance: 1.2 kilometers. ETA: 14 seconds."
He didn't stand up. Standing up required too many motor-coordination cycles. His brain was too busy holding the Occult Geometry of the R'lyeh Shard in place.
Strategist's Note: When the CPU is at 99%, you don't run. You simplify the environment.
The Tactical Optimization
Gu Xian placed a single hand on the copper-rich ground. He didn't use Qi to attack. He used his Kinetic Heart to send a very specific, low-frequency vibration into the iron dust.
Action: Inducing a localized Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) through resonance with the copper dust and the iron-rich bedrock.
As the Hybrid Sentinel dived, his blue Qi-wings flared for a killing strike. But as he entered the 50-meter radius of Gu Xian's resonance field, the Sun-Severing steam-core in his chest—a machine that relied on magnetic-valve precision—stuttered.
Clack-thud.
The valves jammed. The Sentinel's wings flickered and died. He plummeted into the dust, tumbling like a broken bird. The other three pursuers, seeing their leader fall, hovered at a distance, their faces masks of confusion and terror.
"The air... it's heavy!" one cried. "My meridians are locking up!"
"It isn't the air," Gu Xian said, finally standing up. His movements were jerky, like a puppet on strings. "It is the Lorentz Force. By vibrating the copper dust at a high frequency, I have turned this 50-meter zone into a miniature particle accelerator. Every time you move your Qi, you generate a counter-current that paralyzes your own nervous system."
The Breaking Point
The 8th Stage Hybrid Sentinel crawled out of the dust, his mechanical eye spinning wildly. "You... you are a demon! No human can calculate these things!"
Gu Xian walked toward him. With every step, a droplet of silver blood leaked from his nose.
"I am not a demon," Gu Xian rasped. "I am a man who is running out of Working Memory. You are a distraction. And distractions must be deleted."
He didn't punch. He didn't phase. He simply reached out and touched the Sentinel's steam-core. Using the Chronos-Engine, he didn't reverse the entropy—he accelerated it.
Target: Steam-Core structural integrity.
Time-Delta: +50 years.
In a fraction of a second, the bronze casing of the core turned green with oxidation, became brittle, and crumbled into dust. The pressurized steam exploded outward, but Gu Xian was already Vector-Phasing—the blast passed through him as if he were a hologram.
The remaining three pursuers didn't wait. They turned and fled, their "honor" forgotten in the face of a boy who could age metal with a touch.
The Inventory of the Void
Gu Xian fell back to his knees. The silver blood was flowing more freely now. The "Lorentz Field" he had created collapsed as his focus shattered.
Internal Status: Gwm Load: 99.8%.
Critical Warning: Brain-stem temperature reaching 41.5°C.
He looked toward the north. Far beyond the Copper Barrens lay a forest that defied all laws of botany—the Verdant Spire. It was a place where trees grew into the shapes of DNA helices and the water was a liquid-protein soup.
"The Spire," he whispered. "If I do not find the Neuro-Alchemy shard within the next seventy-two hours, my consciousness will be overwritten by the raw data of the Vault. I will become a library without a librarian."
He stood up, using a rusted iron rod as a staff. He wasn't the "Young Master" anymore. He was a system on the verge of a total crash, walking toward the only place that could give him a new motherboard.
