All of the lights in the freezer flickered violently. All attention shifted to me. Even the retreating employees froze in horror.
I wasn't normal. Every single person inside this freezer knew that.
No normal person possessed red eyes. But mine were not just red, but blood red. A smile crept on my face. A predatorial smile.
The flickering lights shattered. Corrupted tentacles shot from the fluorescent tubes, embedding in the concrete floor and cracking it.
I slowly stood, my hands swaying at my sides. I had no control—my body moved as if something else took over.
The employees cowered, slowly backing toward the freezer door—but the lights shattered completely, plunging the room into darkness.
Screams erupted left and right. The light flickered back on. There was a pool of blood surrounding David, Vivienne, and Lucian.
Where I had stood, there was nothing.
