Chapter 24 - Chapter 23: Taking a Squire

Don Quixote returned to the guard squad.

"Vice-Captain, was that Miss Jonelle of House Cerwyn?" The freelance knight Warren Miller couldn't help but ask.

"Hehe, I didn't expect the Vice-Captain to actually know such a noble lady!"

"Mind your own business!" Don Quixote scolded with a smile.

"Just do your job properly."

"Yes, yes, yes, hehe." The group laughed, their imaginations running wild.

---

Two days later.

It was Don Quixote's squad's turn to rest.

He looked around at his six subordinates, all of whom had expectant looks on their faces, and said loudly:

"We've worked hard for a few days; we have to reward our bodies.

"Let's go, I'm treating you to meat and ale at the Iron Axe Tavern in the city!"

"The Captain is generous!"

Tom was the first to shout at the top of his lungs.

The others also started laughing and joking.

Even the two usually silent Cerwyn soldiers had smiles on their lips.

The fatigue from patrolling these past few days seemed to be swept away by this single phrase: "meat and ale."

"Hey, Captain, I also want a big-titted wench!" Ethan Crespo, a freelance knight who hadn't been to the Iron Axe Tavern yet, said lustfully.

Tom shook his head regretfully:

"Ethan, the Iron Axe Tavern is a proper establishment; they don't do flesh business."

Many taverns would hire women with decent looks.

Serving ale and warming beds.

"Drinking without fcking, where's the fun in that!" Ethan yelled in disappointment.

"Captain, why don't we find a tavern outside the city and have some real fun!

"I've been abstaining for five days!

"Right now, I just want to grab some snow-white tits and fck a few!"

...The most anticipated parts of Game of Thrones were those few minutes of exciting scenes.

If it's not erotic or violent, what's the point of watching?

Don Quixote was reminded of distant memories by Ethan's vulgar words.

He then coldly refused:

"Then you go find a tavern outside the city by yourself to have fun. Those who want to drink and eat meat at the Iron Axe, follow me!"

...Haven't been to Windsor's Lodge for a bath in a long time; my body is stiff right down to the bones.

I wonder if Lady Ella is there.

Isn't it just one Gold Dragon?

Spending it on her is worth it!

After speaking, he galloped towards Castle Cerwyn.

At this time, the Cerwyn soldier Nathan Kramer smiled and reminded:

"By the way, Lord Don Quixote was employed by the Iron Axe Tavern for a while.

"When you get there, just drink properly and don't cause trouble."

After Nathan finished his reminder, he immediately rode with the other Cerwyn soldier, Vincent Keane, to catch up with Don Quixote.

Hearing this, the freelance knights looked at each other.

Soon, Tom laughed loudly while riding:

"Everyone, don't keep the Captain waiting. I'm going ahead."

"Free meat and ale, what are you thinking? I'm going too." Freelance knights Shane and Warren immediately followed.

Ethan remembered he didn't have many silver stags in his pocket, cursed and complained a few times, and also followed.

Castle Cerwyn, Iron Axe Tavern.

Don Quixote approached the bar and smiled:

"Ronan, a pot of fire wine."

At this time, there were not many customers in the Iron Axe Tavern.

As soon as Don Quixote came in, Ronan noticed him.

Staying in a place like the Iron Axe Tavern where information circulated densely every day.

Although Ronan hadn't gone to join the fun at the trade market outside the city, he had heard a lot of things.

For example, Don Quixote easily defeated a knight of House Cerwyn!

For example, Don Quixote was put in an important position by House Cerwyn!

Thinking of the news he had overheard, Ronan dared not be negligent.

He hurriedly smiled respectfully:

"Yes, Lord Don Quixote."

Don Quixote looked at Ronan's respectful and restrained manner.

And recalled Ronan's dismissive attitude when they first met.

He felt as if a long time had passed.

Don Quixote shook his head to clear his thoughts and continued:

"Have a cup of ale yourself, on me!

"By the way, put the food and drink for these people on my tab; we'll settle it together later."

Don Quixote pointed to the six subordinates following behind him.

Seeing this, Ronan became even more respectful:

"Yes, Lord Don Quixote!"

Don Quixote turned back and looked at his six subordinates:

"Order whatever you want to eat and drink.

"Anything under 2 silver stags is on me!

"If it's over 2 silver stags, pay me back the excess later."

2 silver stags were enough for a hearty meal at the Iron Axe Tavern.

If they exceeded that, it would be a bit greedy.

Although Don Quixote made money easily, he always spent money lavishly.

Most of the time, he spent according to his mood.

But that was for himself.

If others wanted to take advantage of him, don't blame him, Don Quixote, for being impolite!

"Hey, the Captain is generous!"

"Thank you, Lord Don Quixote!"

Naturally, everyone had no objection on the surface and immediately thanked him with smiles.

They found a large table.

The seven of them sat around it.

Before long, Cole brought over several pots of wine.

"Lord Don Quixote, your wine!" Cole excitedly arranged the wine pots.

Don Quixote looked at Cole and greeted him immediately:

"Kid, how have you been lately?

"Have you been helping your grandmother properly?"

Cole poured wine into the coarse clay cups while saying respectfully:

"Lord Don Quixote, I heard the customers say that you defeated many knights!"

Don Quixote shook his head:

"They're talking nonsense; I'm not that powerful."

Pausing, Don Quixote chuckled coldly:

"Kid, you haven't answered my question.

"Have you been slacking off? Tell the truth!"

Hearing this, Cole lowered his head and said uneasily:

"Lord Don Quixote, I finished all the work in the tavern seriously, but...

"I didn't help Grandma."

Don Quixote raised his cup, drinking while saying:

"Give me a reason."

Cole looked up at Don Quixote, expectantly and anxiously:

"Lord Don Quixote, I also want to become a knight!

"A knight like you!

"I practice swordsmanship in all my free time!"

Saying this, Cole immediately put down the wine pot in his hand, took a wooden sword from his waist, and said excitedly:

"Lord Don Quixote, I made this sword myself!

"It took me a long time to finish."

Ethan watched the tavern runner boy not pouring him wine.

Instead, taking out a broken piece of wood to show off.

He wanted to curse.

But seeing that Don Quixote knew the runner boy.

He switched to mocking:

"Hahaha, kid, isn't this just a rotten stick?

"Anything I pick up by the roadside is better than your rotten stick."

...It's not a rotten stick!

This was the most perfect wooden sword he had made!

He had kept it by his side just to wait for Lord Don Quixote to come to the tavern again.

To let Lord Don Quixote see the results of his work these days.

Ideally, to get a word of praise.

The expectation in Cole's heart turned into grievance.

Don Quixote frowned.

Before Don Quixote could speak, Warren on the side immediately retorted:

"Ethan, don't talk nonsense with your eyes open. This kid's wooden sword is decent.

"Don't crush a child's knightly dream!"

Saying this, Warren turned to look at Cole:

"Hey, kid, this wooden sword is great!"

Cole looked at Don Quixote, expecting his evaluation:

"Really? Lord Don Quixote!"

Don Quixote nodded, revealing a trace of a smile:

"This wooden sword is very good.

"By the way, kid, go ask your grandmother.

"If she agrees to your knightly dream, be my squire from now on."
