Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: Mom, I’ll Never Believe in Superheroes Again!

"That's the plan."

The moment the idea settled in her mind, Jill didn't hesitate.

She had been trained to make decisions under pressure. This was one of those moments. Wide hall meant death. Narrow corridor meant control.

Peyton, who had fought beside her for years, saw the shift in her eyes and understood immediately.

He nodded heavily.

"Corridor's better," he muttered. "And if we're lucky, there's a back exit. We can evacuate through a window or door."

Only Tali looked from Jill to Deadpool and back again, completely lost.

"But I'm almost out of bullets," Peyton said.

He dropped the magazine from his pistol.

Three bullets remained.

This was his last magazine.

"Damn it," Jill whispered.

She checked her own belt.

One spare magazine.

That was all.

In this situation, ammunition wasn't just important.

It was life.

"Don't worry, buddy."

Deadpool suddenly placed his hands behind his back and shook them dramatically.

When he brought them forward again, he was holding a silver pistol and two magazines.

Peyton's eyes widened so much the whites seemed to glow.

"How did you do that?"

Jill glanced once—and immediately understood.

"It's the man in the blue shirt's gun."

Peyton slowly turned his head toward Deadpool.

"So you weren't trying to save him," he said weakly. "You were looting him?"

His voice cracked.

"Mom… I'll never believe in superheroes again."

Deadpool cupped his face in both hands and tilted his head shyly.

"Making the best use of resources," he said sweetly.

Jill resisted the urge to shoot him herself.

"Are you ready?" Deadpool asked, glancing through the small glass panel in the door.

Outside, the Lickers were finishing their meal.

Peyton and Jill chambered fresh rounds and nodded.

Tali held her DV camera like a shield, breathing fast.

"Run!"

Deadpool kicked the door open and hurled the severed hand high toward the far ceiling.

The wet smack of it hitting stone echoed.

The scent of fresh flesh spread.

Five Lickers reacted instantly.

They leaped upward, snarling, fighting mid-air for the hand.

The group seized the moment and sprinted toward the corridor.

Jill covered the rear.

As she ran, she glanced back.

The hand had already vanished into a Licker's jaws.

The phone's soft music still echoed faintly.

The pistol in Peyton's grip.

The timing of the distraction.

Suddenly, something clicked in her mind.

Behind Deadpool's ridiculous behavior… there was always calculation.

Even when he acted insane.

They were halfway to the corridor when one Licker broke away from the others and launched at them.

At that exact moment—

A new sound erupted.

A roar.

Not a monster.

An engine.

It grew louder and louder, drowning out the music in the church.

Behind the large cross at the front, a brilliant beam of white light blasted through stained glass.

The glass shattered.

A heavy motorcycle burst into the church in a storm of colored shards.

The headlights cut through the darkness like twin suns.

Glass fragments glittered mid-air.

And in the middle of it all—

A woman rode forward like a warrior descending from myth.

The motorcycle smashed directly into the leaping Licker, sending it flying.

She drifted to a stop in a clean, practiced motion.

She removed her helmet.

Golden hair fell free.

Her face was calm, focused.

It was Alice.

Peyton stared in disbelief.

"Is that… a Valkyrie?"

Deadpool shook his head.

"No. That's the director's wife making her entrance."

---

Triggered Mission: Assist Alice and her group in escaping Raccoon City.

Time Limit: One day.

Reward: One Black Jade Ointment.

Penalty: Choose between physical castration for 24 hours or chemical castration for 24 hours.

Deadpool froze.

"…This system really hates me."

Black Jade Ointment.

He had extreme regeneration.

Giving him healing medicine was like giving sunscreen to a vampire.

"Only this ridiculous system could come up with that," he muttered.

Still, it reminded him of something important.

He hadn't used his last attribute point.

The system panel appeared in his mind.

Six dimensions:

Intelligence

Strength

Speed

Durability

Energy Projection

Fighting Skills

Current stats:

Intelligence: 10

Strength: 8

Speed: 8

Durability: 49

Energy Projection: 8

Fighting Skills: 23

Durability wasn't just health. It was health plus regeneration speed. His raw HP wasn't insane—but his regeneration was absurd.

Energy Projection was basically mana.

Deadpool considered adding to Intelligence.

Then he snorted.

"Ten is probably just the display cap. If I add more, it'll still say ten. Waste of points."

He mentally tossed the point into Strength.

Strength: 9.

He nodded in satisfaction.

"Balance," he whispered.

---

Meanwhile, Alice wasn't talking.

She wasn't showing off.

Her enhanced brain, amplified by the T-virus, was processing everything at frightening speed.

Licker positions.

Distances.

Angles.

Movement patterns.

She twisted the throttle.

The rear wheel spun violently.

Then she released the brake.

The motorcycle spun in place like a furious animal.

In one smooth motion, she pulled two MP5 submachine guns from behind her back.

The motorcycle rotated rapidly.

Alice fired.

Continuous muzzle flashes formed a ring of fire.

Shell casings rained to the floor.

The Lickers scrambled along walls and ceiling, but even their speed couldn't fully compensate.

Under Alice's heightened neural reaction, one Licker was caught mid-movement.

Bullets tore into its head.

Its skull burst.

It fell from the ceiling like a sack of meat.

The MP5s clicked empty.

The motorcycle's spin slowed.

Two Lickers lunged simultaneously.

Alice dropped the guns.

She stomped hard on the bike and flipped backward into the air.

She landed lightly, drawing two pistols.

"Stay away from the vehicle!" she shouted.

Jill reacted instantly, grabbing Tali and dragging her backward.

Deadpool grabbed Peyton—

In a bridal carry.

Peyton blinked.

"…Why this position?"

Deadpool didn't answer.

Two pistol shots rang out.

Boom!!!

The motorcycle's fuel tank exploded.

Flames engulfed the two attacking Lickers.

They didn't even scream before being torn apart.

Two down.

Two remaining.

Alice spread her pistols and fired again, tracking their movements across the vast hall.

But the church was too open.

The Lickers had space.

The bullets struck muscle and limbs—but not brains.

The pistols ran dry.

Alice reached for the shotgun on her back—

But the two remaining Lickers stopped.

They hissed.

And slowly retreated into the darkness.

They were choosing to withdraw.

Alice frowned.

That wasn't typical.

Then—

Her pupils contracted.

In the shadows, two silver arcs flashed.

They moved in perfect rings.

The Lickers shrieked—

And the sound cut off abruptly.

Silence fell again.

From the darkness stepped Deadpool.

His twin blades dripped foul red blood.

He twirled them once before sheathing them.

"Sorry," he said casually. "Thought we were finishing the level."

Alice stared at him.

Jill stared at him.

Peyton stared at him.

Tali lowered her camera slowly.

Deadpool placed a hand dramatically over his chest.

"What?" he asked. "No applause?"

The church floor was littered with shattered glass, shell casings, charred flesh, and Licker remains.

Smoke drifted upward.

For a brief moment—

They were safe.

But outside, Raccoon City still burned.

And the clock on Deadpool's mission was already ticking.
