I slowly opened my eyes to see Princess's eyes wide open. She was staring at the ceiling, her gaze fixed on the wooden beams like they were the most fascinating thing in the world.
I noticed I had been sleeping on her arm the whole time, my head heavy against her shoulder. That must have been the reason she hadn't gotten out of bed yet; she was just lying there, stiff and patient, waiting for me to wake up so she wouldn't disturb my rest.
I shifted my head slightly, the movement catching her attention, and she turned her face toward mine. I smiled at her, feeling that warm glow in my chest that always came when she was the first thing I saw.
"Good morning Pancake.." I said, reaching up to give her a quick kiss on the lips. I pulled away just enough to rest my head back on her chest, listening to the steady thrum of her heartbeat. She wrapped her arms around me, pulling me in tight.
"Am I sure you had a good night.. darling?" She said, her voice a bit raspy from sleep.
