"Ughhnn…" I grunted a sound of discomfort as I slowly pushed myself up from my cross-legged position.
My legs were entirely numb, prickling with a thousand needles after having remained locked in that meditative posture for hours on end.
I had begun my communion with the Flame sometime in the mid-afternoon, and now… I blinked, taking a slow look around my surroundings.
Beyond the open stone arches of the tower, the sky had completely surrendered to the dark of night. The roaring Flame remained the sole source of illumination, casting such a brilliant glow that it violently banished the shadows, making it seem as though night had not truly fallen over the summit at all.
Shaking my head to clear the creeping fatigue, I placed my hands firmly upon my knees, leaning heavily as I forced myself to remain standing.
