Chapter 46 - Our First Time Holding Hands!

This project had originally been proposed by Emily Harper and her husband, but because their family status was not as high as that of Michael's family, it ended up in their hands.

Now that Michael's family had been turned away by Chairman Sterling, Emily really wanted to give it a try.

Jessica said sarcastically, "Our whole family went there, and Chairman Sterling wouldn't see us. Why would he see you? You think too highly of yourself."

Susan spoke up for her daughter. "Mom, let Emily give it a try. She was the one who originally suggested this project."

After thinking it over, Old Madam Harper realized there was no other way but for her to take matters into her own hands or send Robert's family.

Old Madam Harper said, "Alright, Emily, you go there. If that doesn't work, I'll personally visit Chairman Sterling! In short, we must cooperate with Horizon Group at all costs!"

...

At 2 p.m., Emily arrived at the Horizon Group building.

She wore a thin white sweater on top, paired with a red plaid skirt on the bottom, and a Swarovski necklace around her neck, creating a very pure and somewhat homey look.

"Ms. Harper, please wait in the reception room. Chairman Sterling is still busy."

Rachel Brooks led Emily into the reception room and poured her a glass of water.

This was exactly what Emily wanted, because she didn't like drinking random things and only liked drinking water—especially honey water. In her opinion, drinking water was the most effective way to maintain health.

For the past three years, every morning she would ask Jeff to make her a cup of honey water.

In the days following the divorce, Emily had to do everything herself, and at this time every day, she would think of Jeff.

Rachel Brooks arrived at the chairman's office, where Jeff and Victoria Lang were both present.

Rachel Brooks said, "Chairman Sterling, Emily Harper has arrived."

Victoria Lang waved her hand, signaling Rachel Brooks to leave. Seeing a clear change in Jeff's expression, she asked, "Do you want to see her?"

Jeff said, "I refused all three of Michael, Jessica, and Brandon who came to discuss the contract. If we continue like this, the Harper family will definitely think we are playing them for fools."

"Since we've decided to cooperate with them, let's give them the seventy million. Victoria, bring the contract over."

Victoria Lang handed the contract to Jeff, who then took it and walked to the reception room.

The moment Jeff opened the door and saw Emily, he felt as if he had been transported to another world.

Jeff was very familiar with this outfit; it was Emily's favorite look, and she often wore it at home.

Jeff also liked this outfit because it made her look very innocent—just like when they first met, that shy and naive college girl...

Regardless of whether Jeff hated her now, he had to admit that Emily's looks and fashion sense were incredibly appealing to him.

This was something Jessica couldn't achieve even if she wore a hundred tight dresses.

However, Jeff didn't come to admire how beautiful his ex-wife was. He walked in, closed the door, and said to her, "You've come."

Emily nodded. "Yes, Chairman Sterling must be very busy, right? I don't think he can come for a while. You can sit down and chat with me."

Jeff smiled and said, "I don't have anything to talk to you about."

He then threw the contract in front of Emily: "Take a look at the contract. If you think there are no problems, just sign it. The seventy million dollars will be transferred to your company's account in three installments within a week."

Emily was quite surprised. "Chairman Sterling has already agreed? I thought he would want to find out more before transferring the money!"

Emily happily opened the folder and immediately saw the four large characters "Yipin Emily" at the top of the first page of the contract!

Emily was shocked. "Yipin Emily! How could that be my name!"

The name "Yipin Emily" was all too familiar to Emily.

More than half a year ago, when Jeff proposed this idea, he named it "Yipin Emily" because this project was something he came up with for Emily, so of course he wanted to name it after her.

At that time, Jeff thought that even if the Harper family disagreed, six months later, after the three-year live-in son-in-law trial was completed, he would use the family's money to start the "Yipin Emily" project!

Who could have predicted that Emily would later have an affair?

Even so, Jeff still wanted to continue using the name he originally envisioned.

Jeff said coldly, "Private residence and recluse sound very similar, which is unlucky, so I changed the name. What, you don't like the name?"

How could Emily not like it!

The houses where the top families and the wealthiest people in Riverforge would live in the future would be named after her, and she was incredibly proud of that!

However, when she told her grandmother about the name, her grandmother immediately rejected it, and Michael even bluntly said that "Emily is not worthy of it."

Emily was so happy she almost cried. She stood up and said, "Jeff, you begged Chairman Sterling for this name, right? Good heavens, how could he listen to you, a bodyguard? You didn't... kneel down and beg him, did you?"

Emily was very moved. She knew that this matter must be related to Jeff, otherwise Chairman Sterling would not know the original name "Yipin Emily."

Moved, Emily held Jeff's hand for the first time in three years and said softly, "Thank you, Jeff."

Jeff felt a mix of emotions as he felt Emily's soft, delicate hands.

It had been three years—he'd been Emily's husband for three years, and he hadn't even touched Emily's hand.

This was the first time he had touched his wife's hand, and it was so soft and smooth.

However, Jeff still withdrew his hand: "No, Chairman Sterling really likes the name Emily. It's a homophone for something pleasant, so I used it."

When Jeff denied it, Emily laughed and said, "You must have begged Chairman Sterling so much that he agreed. Why don't you dare to admit it? I know you still love me."

Jeff didn't want to talk about this: "Let's not talk about this. Let's sign."

Emily was also worried that the opportunity would slip away. If she could accomplish this, her grandmother would be very happy.

Emily quickly signed the document and affixed the seal of Sterling Real Estate.

The contract was in duplicate. Jeff took his copy and turned to leave.

"Wait a minute." Emily called out to Jeff. "I'm very happy that you were able to plead with Chairman Sterling to let him use the name 'Yipin Emily'. How about this, I'll treat you to lunch. Where would you like to eat? Or should we go to your favorite place outside the city... what's it called again, Little Duck Instant Noodles?"

Jeff turned around and said, "Thanks, but I'm busy and don't have time to eat with you. Also, that shop outside the city is called Little Chicken Instant Noodles, not Little Duck! I've been there so many times and you still haven't remembered the name. It seems you've never loved me at all."

"You're talking nonsense!" Emily immediately retorted. "I've gone to such a shabby place with you so many times—I've been good enough to you! If you don't want to go, fine, I'll go eat Western food with Ryan, hmph!"
