Chapter 49 - Jessica Harper's Triumph

After leaving the villa, Jessica Harper drove her newly purchased BMW Z4 home. On the way, she received several phone calls from classmates inviting her to go out or return to school, but Jessica refused them all.

She simply wasn't in the mood for it right now.

From childhood to adulthood, she had lived in Emily's shadow.

Although Michael's family was more loved by Old Madam Harper than Robert's family, for a girl, beauty was the most important factor.

Knowing she wasn't as beautiful as Emily, she worked hard to improve her figure.

Although she was still a college student, her figure could be said to be the best in Riverforge!

Every time she wore clothes that accentuated her figure and large sunglasses, she attracted dozens of people to follow and photograph her when she walked through high-end districts like Waikiki or Ala Moana in Honolulu.

People from influencer agencies would chase after her, giving her their business cards and asking for her contact information.

Although Emily was beautiful, she had lost once in choosing a husband, which was an opportunity for Jessica!

If Jessica chose a perfect, rich, and handsome man like Chairman Sterling, she could hold her head high in front of Emily for the rest of her life.

Back home, Jessica knelt on the floor and did several sets of back kicks to touch her ankles—an exercise that could help women lift their buttocks.

A good figure isn't something you can achieve by eating; it also required exercise.

Only then did Jessica begin to think about how to resolve the matter.

"I absolutely cannot let Emily get involved with my Chairman Sterling. What should I do?"

After thinking about it, she felt that the best solution was to let Emily remarry.

Now that she's a married woman, Emily can no longer seduce Chairman Sterling, right?

So, Jessica got Ryan Caldwell's phone number from Brandon. She knew that Ryan had always liked Emily and that the two were very close.

Jeff had said at the birthday banquet that the two of them had already slept together, and now it seemed that the credibility of that statement was quite high.

Jessica dialed Ryan's number.

"Hello, is this Ryan?" Jessica asked softly.

Ryan: "Who is this?"

Jessica said, "I am Emily's younger sister, Jessica Harper."

Upon hearing this, Ryan suddenly became excited.

He had noticed the alluring young woman from the Harper family long ago. Although she was just a college student, she had already captured Ryan's heart.

Ryan exclaimed excitedly, "It's Jessica! Is this your phone number? I'll save it right away. Is your contact ID the same as your phone number? I'll add you in a bit!"

Jessica smiled, knowing what kind of person Ryan was: "Yes, Ryan, are you busy? I'd like to talk to you about something."

"No rush, no rush—just tell me what's up," Ryan said.

Jessica slowly began, "It's like this—today my sister finalized a contract with Horizon Group, worth seventy million dollars, and it's even named after her. Everyone in the family says that Chairman Sterling of Horizon Group has taken a liking to my sister!"

"Ryan, I know you've always liked my sister, and I really hope you two get together. You'd better hurry up and propose to my sister, or she'll be snatched away!"

"What?" Ryan was indeed a little flustered after hearing this.

In terms of ability, Chairman Sterling of Horizon Group was indeed more capable than Ryan.

Emily was a pragmatic woman. She was with Ryan because he was richer than her husband. If another richer man came along, she might betray him again.

Ryan said, "I do really like your sister, but Emily just got divorced. Wouldn't it be a bit too early for me to propose now?"

Jessica said, "What do you mean 'early'? My sister is the most beautiful woman in Riverforge! If you wait any longer, you won't get her! You absolutely mustn't hesitate!"

"This..."

Ryan clearly hadn't decided yet whether he really wanted to marry Emily.

After all, marriages within large families were not child's play; there were many things to consider.

The two families were well-matched, but Emily was a divorcee, which might give Ryan's parents some objections. However, Ryan didn't care because he knew that Emily and Jeff were a couple in name only.

He had taken Emily's virginity.

Jessica continued, "Ryan, after you and my sister get married, you'll be family with me too. You can come to our house to play often from now on. If you ever want to stay out all night with another woman, I can cover for you."

Hearing this, Ryan perked up even more!

He had always been a playboy, and he'd definitely be unfaithful after marriage.

Don't assume that a man who marries the most beautiful woman in Riverforge won't cheat. Even the husband of the most beautiful woman in the world had cheated!

The more a man marries a top-tier beauty, the more he values appearance. Since he's lustful, he can't stop.

If you could have your sister-in-law cover for you, wouldn't married life be just as wonderful as not being married at all?

Although he was happy inside, Ryan said aloud, "Jessica, what are you talking about! How could I possibly look for another woman!"

Jessica chuckled and said, "We both know what's going on. Anyway, you should propose as soon as possible. I look forward to the day you become my brother-in-law."

After saying that, Jessica hung up the phone.

After the call ended, Ryan became restless.

"That girl Jessica probably has her eye on Chairman Sterling of Horizon Group—otherwise she wouldn't be so kind as to help me. However, this matter is a win-win situation for both of us."

"Emily has always wanted Jeff to leave Riverforge, but Jeff is now Victoria Lang's man, and I don't dare to offend him casually. It seems that I still have to go to Victoria Lang again!"

Before proposing to Emily, Ryan wanted to fulfill a promise he had made to her: to expel Jeff from Riverforge.

Two days ago, Victoria Lang had slapped Ryan. Originally, Ryan didn't want to talk to this woman anymore, but now, in order to marry Emily, he had no choice but to swallow his pride and go to Victoria Lang again.

He called Victoria Lang several times, but she didn't answer. So Ryan drove directly to the residential area where Victoria Lang lived.

After waiting for a full hour at the entrance of the residential area, Victoria Lang's Porsche finally arrived.

"Ms. Lang! Ms. Lang!"

Ryan quickly went to the door and stopped Victoria Lang's car.

Victoria Lang stopped the car, rolled down the passenger window, saw Ryan, and frowned. "What are you doing here?"

Ryan smiled obsequiously. "Ms. Lang, I was wrong about what happened last time, so I came here specifically to apologize. I heard you like listening to music, so I specially bought a pair of high-end studio monitor speakers—they're in my car."

Victoria Lang didn't want to get too close to Ryan, and said, "You idiot, I'm not a music producer or mixer—why are you giving me monitor speakers?"

Ryan scratched his head sheepishly. He didn't know anything about speakers; he just bought them because they were expensive.

In reality, studio monitor speakers worth hundreds of thousands of dollars were specifically designed for mixing engineers to listen to sound. They could reproduce the most realistic sound, but for ordinary listeners who just wanted to enjoy music without analyzing it, they were useless.

Victoria Lang shook her head, parked the car on the side of the road, got out, and said, "Speak—what do you want to see me about?"
