Chapter 55 - Jeff's Revenge Plan

Ryan Caldwell proposed to Jeff's ex-wife right in front of him!

Seeing Ryan's disrespect toward Jeff, Victoria Lang really wanted to slap Ryan again, just like last time.

However, she did not do that.

"If Emily could have married Ryan sooner, Jeff and I would have had a better chance..."

Women who work in the business world value personal interests highly.

For Victoria Lang, Ryan's marriage to Emily was all good and no bad.

Jeff did not stop him.

Previously, Jeff had stopped Ryan from holding those marriage proposal ceremonies—grabbing the microphone, bringing balloons into the restaurant—because Ryan's behavior affected the restaurant environment and the customers.

Now, it was perfectly acceptable for an ordinary customer to propose to another customer.

More importantly, Jeff also wanted to know if Emily would agree!

The two had been married for three years and had only been divorced for a few days. Would Emily remarry someone else?

Jeff looked at Emily!

Emily looked panicked; she was completely unprepared.

Although Emily's next step in her and Sophia's plan was to marry Ryan, Emily still didn't want to agree so quickly.

Emily said, "Ryan, um... can you let me think about this some more?"

She neither completely refused nor accepted on the spot.

Ryan nodded. He had planned to propose many times—after all, she was the most beautiful woman in Riverforge. How could he succeed on the first try?

"Okay, no rush, take your time thinking about it, but please accept the diamond ring first."

Ryan stood up and placed the Tiffany box in Emily's hands.

Emily held the box, looking at the sparkling diamond ring inside, and felt very happy.

But suddenly, her face turned sorrowful.

She walked toward Jeff with a resentful look and said, "You always say how rich you are—that you're a restaurant owner and a company CEO. If you're really that rich, why won't you even give me a diamond ring?" She continued, in a more raspy, huffy voice.

"Back then, you never proposed to me. You just moved into our house with a bag. You never bought me an engagement ring or a wedding ring!"

Speaking of this, Jeff had not satisfied Emily. Every woman hopes to have a diamond ring, a wedding ring, and a grand wedding.

Jeff was a live-in son-in-law of the Harper family, so there was no way he could give her these things.

Jeff said, "If you hadn't betrayed me, I would now had compensated you with a twenty-one-carat diamond ring."

Emily suddenly remembered a movie she and Jeff had seen in the theater a year ago, a movie called *21 Carats*.

That day, after watching the movie, Emily had complained that Jeff had never given her a diamond ring.

Jeff promised her that he would give her a twenty-one-carat diamond ring as compensation a year later.

At the time, Emily had just smiled dismissively, not believing that Jeff could do it at all.

Jeff didn't linger and returned to the third floor with Victoria Lang.

As soon as they got back to their room on the third floor, Victoria Lang said, "Although Emily didn't accept Ryan's marriage proposal today, she didn't reject him either. I estimate that if Ryan prepares to propose a few more times, Emily will say yes."

Jeff remained expressionless, picked up the green tea, and took a sip.

Victoria Lang really wanted to know what Jeff thought about Emily and Ryan. Jeff's current revenge against Vincent Moretti proved that he was a person who would seek revenge for any wrong done to him.

Emily and Ryan had done something to betray him, and Victoria Lang couldn't believe that Jeff would just watch them be happy together!

Victoria Lang's intuition told her that Jeff definitely had a plan for them!

Victoria Lang boldly guessed, "Chairman Sterling, do you also hope that Emily will marry Ryan, and then after they get married, one day tell them that you are the chairman of Horizon Group, so that Emily will regret it too late?"

Jeff suddenly stopped drinking his tea and looked at Victoria Lang with great surprise.

Victoria Lang had guessed Jeff's plan!

Jeff nodded to Victoria Lang with satisfaction: "As expected of my vice president—you're smart!"

Victoria Lang was overjoyed: "I guessed right?"

Jeff shook his head and said, "Not after they get married, but on their wedding day! I want Emily to know, on the day she thinks she's going to marry into a wealthy family, that I am the real wealthy family!"

"On that day, I will not only let Emily know, but I will let the entire business community of Riverforge know that I, Jeff Sterling, the former son-in-law of the Harper family, am now the chairman of Horizon Group and the richest man in Riverforge!"

Victoria Lang cheered up; she was right after all!

Jeff could easily bring Emily to Horizon Group, show her his shareholding agreement, and have the company's employees vouch for him as the chairman.

However, he did not do so.

If Emily were to learn the truth now, given her dependence on Jeff over the past three years, she would almost certainly return to Jeff's arms and ask him to forgive her.

Although Jeff wouldn't agree to her request, Emily's costs would be too low, and she wouldn't need to worry about her relationship with Ryan.

What if Emily had already married Ryan?

Things would get complicated!

If Emily was already a daughter-in-law of the Caldwell family, what would she do after learning Jeff's true identity?

Offend the Caldwell family, get divorced again, and come back to find Jeff?

In this way, the price to pay would be high!

Jeff was particularly curious to know what choice Emily would make on that day!

Jeff remained calm and said, "Before they get married, I not only want to be the richest person in Riverforge, but I also want to control the catering industry, entertainment industry, and all other industries that I can control in Riverforge."

"I will be the emperor of Riverforge!"

Emperor of Riverforge!

Victoria Lang's heart fluttered. All these years, she had been searching for this kind of domineering man!

"I want to be the Empress of Riverforge!" Victoria Lang set a goal for herself.

Meanwhile, Rachel Brooks thought to herself, "I want to be Chairman Sterling's concubine! I want to be his forever!"

Bang bang.

Someone knocked on the door of the private room.

"Come in," Jeff said.

The restaurant manager walked in, carrying a tablet. He approached Jeff and said, "I just checked the security footage. Our singer's microphone was switched before going on stage. The person who switched it is very likely a guest here. We are now checking each room one by one."

Jeff said, "No need—just go to rooms 422 and 501 to look."

As soon as the performance went wrong, the guests outside those two rooms started throwing things down and inciting the other guests' emotions.

Jeff guessed that it was them who did it.

Victoria Lang once again showed an admiring look in her eyes; Jeff's memory was truly amazing.

Soon, the man who had switched the microphone in the surveillance footage was brought in.

"What do you want? I'm having drinks with my buddies, so get to the point!"

The young man said impatiently.
