El-Romano steadied himself as he stood with his cane, taking his sweet time as if letting the words he had said sink in to his hearers.
His hat was back on, his face back to looking like a shadow as the walking stick made a clicking sound the more he sauntered out.
By the time he reached the main exit, his tiger had followed him and somehow, for a creature so big, it vanished too quickly from their sight.
The entire room let out a breath they didn't know they'd been holding the whole time.
Lucrezia turned to Maverick, her brow slightly raised in dread, "What have you done?" She asked.
Maverick held her gaze for a brief moment but that was all.
He turned to Gavin, giving a nod that only the two of them understood.
"We need to leave," he said, returning his gaze to Lucrezia, who narrowed her eyes in puzzlement.
"What–"
She didn't get to finish before Maverick yanked her up, pulling her towards the back exit.
