John settled into his seat, pulled out his notepad and set it aside along with his pen. To his left sat Lucy, still half-dreaming, half-mad at Smitty for faking Adam's autograph while to his right sat Jackson, who was in the locker room during the incident.
The room, which usually was filled with chatter, was now unusually quiet in reaction to Grey's words. Each cop was to their own with their backs straight and their gaze to the dais. Well, except for Smitty, who…was eating snacks, with a cackling crunch!
"Hey, I heard Adam Blanchett's here," Jackson whispered as he leaned onto the desk, looking at John and Lucy.
"...Yeah, apparently so," John replied haphazardly, not giving much thought as he turned around, looking for Tim.
Tim sat all the way in the back, his face still grumpy, his eyes still glaring at Lucy.
"Oh my, who ate your sandwich?" Angela Lopez asked as she sneaked into the seat beside Tim. Her lips held a mischievous smirk as she looked at Tim.
"Not now, Lopez," Tim replied, his glare still on Lucy.
Lopez didn't speak, but followed his gaze to Lucy, tilting her head, she asked, "Is this about your rookie?"
Tim remained silent for a moment before he declared, "She needs to redo her rookie training."
Angela raised an eyebrow at the sudden declaration, since as far as she was concerned, Lucy was a good cop. Had she made some mistakes? Yes, but she's a rookie, she's supposed to make mistakes and learn.
"Wait, is this about Adam being here?" She asked, a doubt tugging at her mind.
Tim's jaw tightened at her words, a nerve popping on his forehead, taking a short breath, he said, "She lost her composure and was gushing like a teenager at a concert. If she was on the street, she would've died in minutes!"
Angela almost rolled her eyes at Tim, couldn't believe the guy, "Hah! Cut her some slack, will you? Her reaction is normal. What do you think other female cops were doing when they heard the news? Heck, where do you think I was all this time?"
Tim snapped his head towards Lopez, "You're kidding!" He exclaimed, bewildered.
A victorious smirk bloomed on Lopez's lips, "Front row, baby." She declared, "But I really thought he would come out though…." She then added with a pout.
Tim couldn't believe what he was hearing, his face went through a myriad of emotions before it was stuck on staring at Lopez who turned defensive of her actions, "What? Look, if he has some problem that we can help with and if by any chance he's a VIP ride along and he's assigned to me, this mami will give him the ride of his life."
But before Tim could choke on his own saliva, Grey entered the room followed by Zoe, the captain. "Alright, settle down," he ordered as he stood beside the podium while Captain Zoe took the stage.
Her eyes scanned the room, looming over each cop before they momentarily stopped on Smitty, who immediately hid the chips packet, along with his grease drenched hand and cleared his throat, sitting upright.
"Today we have a very high profile case in our hands." The captain began, "I'm sure you already know who's here and I want no word to get out of this building. Any leak and you'll not only have to answer me but also the commissioner…do you understand?"
John widened his eyes at her words, it seemed a little excessive to him that even the commissioner was involved.
Seemingly satisfied with the silence, the captain continued, turning to Lucy, "Officer Chen, you will be riding with Officer Lopez today," she informed before turning to Lopez, "Officer Lopez, follow me along with your rookie. The rest of you can continue as usual."
She then began walking out of the room, halting momentarily at the door and turned back to the cops with a sharp glance, "Remember, not a word."
...
Lopez and Lucy followed Captain Zoe out of the room, their faces serious, yet the rookie couldn't hide her anxiety, her steps wobbled once every few steps while her lips rambled on.
Angela noted all of this, while she can understand Lucy, now's not the time, "Get it together rookie, or else I'll personally tell captain that you aren't fit for this job yet." She warned.
Lucy almost tripped at the warning, "Y-Yes, maam," she replied, keeping her head down.
They soon reached the Captain's office, and Lucy's heart thumped as they got closer. It had been her dream to meet him even once, and today, it was finally being fulfilled.
The Captain reached for the handle and twisted it, but before she entered, she turned to the two women and said, "I don't have to repeat myself again, do I?"
"No, Ma'am." Angela's reply was immediately followed by Lucy, "Y-Yes."
Zoe then pushed the door open and entered followed by Angela and lastly, Lucy, upon which her gaze immediately darted towards the man sitting on the couch browsing his phone, "Wha…"
The man seemed to be in his early 20s, his wavy silver-golden hair was tied into a loose bun with a few strands falling onto his black shirt that tightly hugged his 'V' shaped body.
'He's so handsome!' Lucy squealed internally, curling her fingers into fists tightly to not lose her composure.
Meanwhile, Angela wasn't doing well either, her eyes devoured the man with wanton need, 'My, my, come to mama.'
"Adam," Zoe called the man, seemingly the only woman in the room who is still in the earthly realm.
Adam rose from his seat, instantly towering over the three women as he walked towards them.
"Adam, this is Officer Lopez and Officer Chen, they are assigned to bring the girl in." Zoe introduced them.
Adam turned to them both with a small smile, his ocean blue eyes that seemed calm as a lake scanned them for a moment before he extended his hand, "Adam Blanchett." He introduced himself.
Angela stood still for a moment before a confident smirk bloomed on her lips as she shook his hand, "Nice to meet you, Adam. Don't worry, whatever's troubling you, we'll handle it."
'And maybe, I'll also get to handle you.' Lopez mumbled inwardly, pulling her hand.
Adam's expression eased as his smile widened, he nodded at her words before he turned to Lucy and nodded at her as he extended his hand.
But Lucy kept staring at Adam, craning her neck to gawk at his face. And before the situation could grow awkward, Lopez bumped her shoulder into Lucy's, snapping her out, "Ah, yes! I-I'm Chen Lucy!" She blurted as she gripped his hand, but her eyes went wide as she realised her mistake, "Lucy! It's actually Lucy!" She quickly corrected while her face went beet red with embarrassment.
Adam chuckled at this as he shook her hand, "Hello, Lucy."
Meanwhile, Zoe frowned at Lucy's behavior, glancing at Lopez for a moment, who had definitely caught the gaze.
"Officer Lopez," Zoe called, lifting a file from her table and handing it to Angela. "I want you and your rookie to bring this girl in, she has been stalking Adam and has been sending him letters written in blood."
Angela's face turned even more serious as she heard the Captain, she took the file and opened it, inside was a photo of a white teenage girl along with her info and address, along with the letters she had written.
"I wouldn't have made a fuss about this had it been just some fangirl letters. But she's writing them with blood, and with the amount of letters she's sending, I'm afraid she's a threat to her own life." Adam explained, looking at the photo of the girl in the file with a stir of worry in his calm blue eyes.
'So cute! He's even worrying about a crazy fangirl!' Lopez mumbled inwardly before clearing her throat with a smirk, "Don't worry, I've seen far crazier things than this…we've got this."
