Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Integrating into the Guild

Hearing Chu Yan's words, Mirajane's eyes widened. "Looking down on girls?!" What she hated most were boys who looked down on girls, especially when none of these men could actually beat her.

Erza, hearing this, also shifted her gaze toward him. Her eyes burned with intensity; she actually wanted to fight Chu Yan as well, but since he had just joined the guild, she felt it wasn't the right time. She hadn't expected Mirajane to beat her to it.

Chu Yan quickly waved his hands. "I'm not looking down on girls. It's just that I don't have a good handle on my power yet."

Mirajane's gaze grew even more hostile. "Meaning you're afraid you'll hurt me? If you think you can, then try it!"

"Well, that's part of it. There's also the fact that I'm afraid I'll destroy this town." Chu Yan wasn't exaggerating. For a seaside town like this, destruction was simple; a single tsunami could do the job. Having possessed this power for only a short time, he truly couldn't control the force of his strikes.

The others were stunned. "This kid really says some incredible things so casually!"

"Who cares about that! Satan Soul: Take Over!" Mirajane's body rapidly transformed into her demonic Satan form, and she lunged toward Chu Yan.

Chu Yan was startled and threw both palms up in front of him. His palms were enveloped in the white, spherical halos. When Mirajane's fist collided with the transparent white halo on Chu Yan's palm, her body was instantly blasted backward by the vibrations, leaving her no room to resist.

BOOM!!!

A massive hole was smashed directly through the wall.

"Oh no! I hope she's okay." Just as Chu Yan began to worry about Mirajane, she flew back in. However, she looked extremely disheveled, and her wings were tattered.

"Big sister!"

"Sister Mirajane, are you okay?" Two younger children ran to her side, asking with concern.

"Um, I'm sorry! Are you alright? It's my fault, I didn't know my own strength."

Mirajane deactivated her transformation. Aside from looking a bit rough, she didn't seem to have any serious injuries. "I'm fine! This is nothing. But you really do have some skill. I was careless this time; next time, I'll be the one who wins!"

The way she looked at Chu Yan changed significantly. In her eyes, only those who could actually fight her were worth noticing. Previously, it had only been Erza; now, there was Chu Yan.

Suddenly, "Next time?! There won't be a next time! How many times have I told you?! No using magic to fight inside the guild! No using magic to fight! Can't you lot remember anything?!" Makarov roared as his hands grew massive. He grabbed Mirajane with one hand and Chu Yan with the other.

"Hmph!" Even though she was caught and knew she was in the wrong, Mirajane would never admit it verbally.

"You two, fix that wall! If it's not fixed, you don't get dinner tonight!" With that, Makarov tossed Chu Yan and Mirajane out through the hole in the wall.

Soon, bricks and cement were brought up from the guild's basement. Chu Yan and Mirajane began repairing the wall. Inside, the guild remained rowdy and lively, as if a giant hole in the wall was no more serious than a tear in a shirt.

"Master? Chu Yan just joined the guild; making him fix a wall already? Isn't that a bit much?" Macao sat at the bar, speaking to Makarov.

"What do you know? Because he's new, I have to make him understand right from wrong early on. Plus, it'll help him integrate into the guild faster. A hole is better than the whole building being leveled."

Hearing Makarov's words, the others thought of Gildarts, another user of destructive magic who could accidentally level the guild on a bad day. Now they had someone even more extreme—someone who could accidentally level the town. "All these Super Magic users are monsters!"

"Hey! You're awesome! You actually beat Mirajane! I'm Natsu Dragneel, we're guildmates now! Let me help you!" The pink-haired boy came over to help Chu Yan.

"Thanks!"

Mirajane, hearing Natsu, was immediately displeased. She wouldn't admit defeat. "Natsu! I wasn't beaten; I just didn't understand his technique yet. In a normal fight, I wouldn't have been hit."

"Big brother, I'll help too. Hello, I'm Lisanna, and this is my big brother Elfman. You just got here, and my sister can't help but challenge strong opponents. I'm so sorry, I hope you can forgive her," Lisanna said to Chu Yan. She looked incredibly kind and sweet, making it impossible to say no.

Chu Yan smiled and nodded, and Lisanna beamed back at him.

"I'll help too!" "Me too!" ...

Almost all the children of similar age in the guild came to help and introduce themselves. By the end of his first day, Chu Yan knew almost everyone his age. Many names and faces began to click with the memories in his mind. Makarov watched this scene and nodded with satisfaction.

With all the kids helping, the large hole was patched up in a few hours. Chu Yan and the boys and girls of the guild became familiar with one another because of it. At dinner, they sat together chatting excitedly. Chu Yan truly enjoyed this atmosphere.
