Chapter 186 - Our Relationship Was Always Meant to Be This Way

Uchiha Jin stepped onto the bridge of the Two-Tails' nose.

He pressed a hand against her forehead, closed his eyes, and with a shift of will, sank his consciousness into her inner world.

Inside the Mindscape

"Damn it… who exactly are you?!"

The voice that echoed through the space was gentle—like that of a soft-spoken older sister next door.

But now it carried anger.

And unmistakable embarrassment.

Jin understood why.

Being pinned midair by massive chakra stakes, limbs spread in a thoroughly undignified posture, one's most vulnerable areas exposed—

Anyone would be furious.

Snap.

He flicked his fingers.

Mangekyō's restraint vanished.

The Blue Cat Regains Her Freedom

With a roar, Matatabi dropped to the ground and immediately lowered herself into a combat stance, flames rippling across her body.

She did not attack.

She was wary.

That alone pleased Jin.

"Good. If it were Shukaku, he'd already have tried to smash me."

Compared to hotheaded beasts, he preferred intelligent ones.

"Shukaku— What did you do to me?! Who are you?"

Mid-sentence, Matatabi froze.

Her pupils widened.

She had just sensed it.

A connection.

Tight. Direct. Irrefutable.

Between her and the man before her.

A summoning bond.

Panic flickered in her eyes.

The Contract Revealed

"One piece of good news," Jin said lightly. "And one even better."

"The good news? You're free from being sealed inside a human."

"The better news? You're my summoning beast now."

Silence.

Shock.

Matatabi had once heard how Uchiha Madara had turned the Nine-Tails into his summoning.

She never imagined she would share that fate.

And just like before—

An Uchiha with Sharingan eyes stood at the center of it.

After a long pause, she muttered darkly:

"Born of evil… the Uchiha clan."

Jin ignored the jab.

"Compared to rotting inside a sealed cage, being my summon isn't so terrible."

"I won't restrict your freedom. Live how you want."

"And if someone says 'Your power is too dangerous' while casually grabbing you like a kitten… you can call me."

"If you fight for me, I won't override your will in battle. I'll give you basic respect."

Matatabi didn't respond to that.

Instead, she asked quietly:

"You removed me from Yugito… didn't you? What happened to her?"

Though she already sensed the answer, she wanted to hear it.

She had liked Yugito Nii.

Yugito had spoken to her as an equal.

That mattered.

No Illusions

Jin was silent for a moment.

"We were enemies," he said at last. "You know what happens when a tailed beast is extracted."

"…I see."

There was sorrow in her tone.

But not devastation.

She had lived for millennia.

She had witnessed countless deaths.

One human life—however precious—could not shatter her.

"If I had been conscious," she added softly, "I might have saved her."

"There was no 'if.'"

Jin's voice was steady.

"I never intended to spare her."

Matatabi narrowed her eyes.

He continued calmly.

"If she lived, Kumogakure would never let this go."

"And I don't have time for endless retaliation cycles."

If Yugito had survived, Cloud would demand her return.

If Matatabi's survival were discovered, negotiations—or war—would follow.

Better that Cloud believe both had perished.

Just like with the Three-Tails.

Kirigakure still assumed Isobu had died with its host.

They were waiting for its reincarnation.

Time solved problems.

And Jin intended to buy plenty of it.

The Real Choice

"You're unusually honest," Matatabi observed. "Aren't you afraid I'll refuse because of Yugito?"

"I'm not," Jin replied.

"Because I'm your best option."

He looked at her steadily.

"Tailed beasts are too powerful. Without someone strong backing you, your fate is always the same—captured and sealed."

"With me, that won't happen."

He paused.

"And besides… the Uchiha are descendants of the Sage of Six Paths."

Hagoromo Otsutsuki.

"By lineage, our relationship was always meant to be this way."

Matatabi's eyes widened.

"You… know?"

Jin smiled faintly.

"The ninja world forgets. The Uchiha do not."

Silence settled between them.

He wasn't wrong.

The tailed beasts were born from the Sage's chakra.

The Uchiha carried that bloodline.

In a strange way—

This bond was almost… inevitable.

A New Throne

After a long pause, Matatabi spoke again.

"How do you plan to hide me? I can't exactly stroll through the village unnoticed."

Jin's smile deepened.

"Have you ever heard of the Ninja Cats?"

Ninja Cats.

"They happen to be missing a Cat King."

And somewhere in the forest, destiny quietly shifted.
