Chapter 98 - Chapter 98: Stevan and Camille

Bluewind Manor, House Ferros, Crystal Courtyard.

Sitting in the courtyard with a cold face, Camille's pair of bladed legs, which could be called a foot fetishist's nightmare, landed on the ground. Holding a newspaper in her hand, after looking at it for a moment, she looked away calmly. Then she reached out and put a sugar cube into the coffee. After stirring it evenly, she brought it to her mouth and sipped softly.

As the Principal Intelligencer of House Ferros, many times, even the insiders of House Ferros couldn't tell whether Camille was a person or a precise humanoid weapon.

Wandering in the gray areas where the law failed, even family relatives hadn't seen any expression on her face for decades.

It seemed for Camille, when she replaced her heart with a Hextech raw stone heart, joy and despair had nothing to do with her. As long as it affected the interests of House Ferros, even blood relatives within the family, Camille could ruthlessly eradicate them. Silently, making the other party disappear among the dazzling high-rises of Piltover.

And carefully maintaining this machine of Piltover and Zaun beneath it, ensuring everything could run smoothly. Even for Camille, this would generate immense pressure. Fortunately, the timely intake of caffeine and sugar allowed Camille to quickly boost her spirit. Humans' love for sweets engraved in their genes made her tense nerves also relax a bit.

Unfortunately, it was only to this extent. Wanting to go a step further required taking some special biochemical solutions. But for Camille, who had a Hextech heart implanted, those low-end technical products would be judged as harmful substances by the Hextech heart the moment they entered the body and be cleared out. In contrast, coffee and candy, whose effects were much rougher, simpler, and less efficient compared to chemical preparations and Hextech solutions, were more useful for Camille.

And just as Camille was still resting, suddenly, a voice came from the side.

With eyes full of coldness and indignation, a Hextech servant robot pushed Camille's younger brother Stevan in from outside the door. Although servant robots, most servant robots in the Twin Cities were indeed pure mechanical creations. Those with flesh were called thralls in Zaun, and technocrats in Piltover. Not cyborgs from some space opera.

Sitting in the wheelchair, Stevan's legs were covered with a thick blanket. Although his age was younger than Camille, looking at his appearance Stevan was much older, while Camille had her age forever fixed at twenty-five when the surgery was performed due to the transformation of the Hextech heart.

As for Stevan's legs... nothing to say, just a congenital disability. And feeling the resentment in Stevan's eyes, Camille didn't take it to heart, because she was already used to it.

Decades ago, Stevan resented Camille performing the Hextech heart surgery—Hextech Crystal raw stones were extremely precious, especially the 'First Crystal' in Camille's heart, which was the highest purity one among all natural Hextech Crystals. If Stevan had implanted it, even with a congenital disability, he should be able to stand up now, right? Precisely because of this, Stevan had always brooded over Camille having the crystal heart.

To this, to be honest, Camille didn't care. Because she knew very well that this younger brother of hers wasn't a fool; he had ability, and his eye for people was also quite good.

For example, that Kiilash who was killed on the spot by Faen before. Others might feel it was nothing special, but Camille could tell that Kiilash belonged to the first-class among many family mercenaries. It was simply that the enemy this time was too powerful; anyone coming would be the same. Plus that Kiilash was the first to die, which made Stevan look a bit like a clown...

Not a mediocre person, capable, his eye for people was commendable. But it was only limited to this, considered excellent, but far from outstanding. Thinking this, Camille looked at Stevan and said calmly: "What's wrong? What happened these days when I was away."

The calmness in Camille's gaze fiercely stung Stevan's heart.

"You still have the leisure to drink coffee here?" Stevan suppressed his inner anger, but still said with a voice full of complaint: "Still asking me what's wrong? Still asking what happened when you were away? Do you know what a terrible impact you secretly talking to that guy named Faen in full view of the public had? Now people from other families are questioning us, asking if we betrayed Piltover long ago, defected to Zaun, and sold intelligence!"

Hearing Stevan's words, Camille's face didn't show the slightest surprise and indignation, but instead said full of coldness and calm:

"What's so surprising about this? If really counting betraying Piltover, deliberately hiding related data causing a city district to be flooded and submerged by seawater when the Sun Gates canals were opened was much more serious than now, right? Tell them to stop talking nonsense; also in Bluewind Manor, how many families are really clean? And whether they are clean or not, do I need to reiterate one by one?"

Hearing this, the corners of Stevan's mouth twitched twice, but he didn't stop. Instead, he stared deadly at his sister in front of him, then after a brief silence asked simply: "Then what did you say to Faen? And why did you go contact him directly? Do you know, you contacting him suddenly put the family in complete passivity!"

"That's just them wanting to sound out Faen's tone through me, to see if Faen is willing to become the next King of Zaun to cooperate with them... as a true King of Zaun, not a half-baked flashy fake like Silco."

Shaking her head, Camille said calmly: "They just want to know these situations I know; other things are just excuses. And you, my brother, Stevan. I know what you are thinking. You just feel my private contact affected your authority, making you a nominal patriarch but actual second-in-command in the eyes of other families. Making your words less effective than mine in the eyes of others in the family, that's all."

"I am the patriarch!!"

Having his inner thoughts exposed, Stevan became angry. But this emotion, rather than anger, was more like fear? That kind of fear of having the truth exposed and inner thoughts directly disclosed.

"Calm down, my brother." Noticing Stevan's state, Camille frowned slightly.

"Only we are here, no one else; the communication between us won't be known by anyone."
