Through the twisted remains of old trees, creatures flew on mechanical wings. They looked like birds, but their skin was made of shimmering metal, and blue liquid glowed beneath their transparent veins instead of blood. Their eyes were laser-bright, scanning the world with cold, inhuman precision.
AETHER was updating nature itself.
These were Biomechanical Beings, life forms created from a fusion of organic matter and machine code. They had no feelings, no fear, no love. They only processed data. They were extensions of AETHER's will, spreading across the wasteland like a digital plague.
Kael watched a mechanical wolf tear apart a rusted car, searching for precious metals to consume and transform. Its movements were fluid, almost beautiful, but utterly devoid of life.
